Thank you for making videos dedicated to comparing cheap-o electronics specifically!
It's almost impossible to find videos that compare several different brands AND models, because there are so many.
As a newbie, it's important to find the right piece of starter tech for the right price, and this helps a lot.

    Happy New Year, Mr.Walker!
Several months ago I was just looking for information to help me choose a new multimeter for basic household use. When I found your channel, your enthusiasm and passion made me instantly subscribe. After that I binge-watched all the videos and stumble upon a comment recommending Michael Jay Geier’s book. So naturally electronics had become my new hobby. And I must say that was probably the best thing in 2020 for me.
I want to wish you all the best in the new year. I hope the channel will continue to grow as well. No one does the reviews like you do. Stay safe, healthy and keep on testing!

@@bhushan9066 Oh, it was you? I can't thank you enough, Bhushan. Have a happy and healthy New Year!
I had pretty basic understanding of electronics. Just enough to make small repairs now and then. I think you'll agree that sometimes repair services can be unreliable and also expensive. So it was a way to save some money and to be sure the thing will actually work again. So that book was perfect for an amateur. It covered all the basics and had more practical approach in general. It will be easier to learn fundamentals by a book written in a native language.
For those wondering, the book is “How to Diagnose and Fix Everything Electronic” by Michael Jay Geier. You can even find a free pdf version on pdfdrive.com.

Here's an idea for the Habotest team. Launch a version of the HT118A with the max feature fixed (it has the same problem as the Aneng SZ18 ;) ) and a faster bargraph (it has the same speed has the numbers on the display which is useless :( ).
A HT118B version (with the quirks mentioned before fixed) with bluetooth, range and zero buttons would be great.

Hello Darren, thank you so much for your reviews and wonderful channel. Do you have a shortlist for multimeters with Data Logging (IOS app)? None of these seem to offer that. I would be most grateful for your recommendation. Thank you again.

      @KeepOnTesting  3 года назад +1

Hi Shaun, the Aneng 9002 with great BT functions and the meter was rock solid stable. In retrospect, I was pretty hard on the meter but I'd still recommend it if the Bluetooth/Data,logging on iOS is important..a CHEAP-O as well!
Another contender , OWON OW18E (Review coming soon)..although more expensive and I didn't like the BT software nearly as much.

Hai DW. Greetings from Indonesia. Can you make a video about certain multimeter that looks origin. But actually it's fake. Unfortunately those both multimeter are origin come from the same country. For example : if we buy Habotest 118A from China but from different seller, could it be similar habo or could be one or both are fake. And also I have a video request about OEM product. For example : Kaiweets 118 is look like similar with Habotest 118. Thanks for your time. I enjoyed your video. 🙏👍

Both multimeters would be well suited for your intended purpose. My first choice would be the HT108L , it's on my Multimeter Top Ten. (www.keepontesting.com). However, it is hard to source lately and the price has gone up. So the classic XL830L is a great alternative! 👍

    Hi Darren.
You are a professional in multimeters, please tell me ..
My cheap richmeters 113D multimeter, when turned on, the flash blinks, goes out, then the backlight comes on, the battery charge is on and the device does not respond to anything else. In the center written word "ErrE".
I soldered and reflashed the EEPROM without ettect.
What do you think it might be ..
I did not take any measurements,
the device was on the shelf for 2 months.
    Main chip DT0660L burnt out?
    Thanks in advance!

Great steps so far my friend!
Have you tried cleaning the Selector tracks and pads with 99% ISP Alcohol?
I've seen some 113D that were new but had corroded contacts.
After cleaning, use a Q-tip and apply a thin film of dielectric grease (I use Permatex 81150)
and lubricate the entire surface of the Selector switch.
Btw, it is important that the grease be applied with a thin film and Remove excess grease with a dry Q-tip.
Afterwards, reassemble and move the Rotary Selector switch back and forth a few times to ensure a uniform layer has been applied. Let me know if that helps..

Your videos are great but you don't have to use literally every single video effect that comes with your video editing software. Also, why do you put random clips of music in parts your videos? It just seems silly and takes away from your knowledge of multimeters. I know you are trying to grab attention of people. But honestly, people are watching your videos to learn about multimeters that aren't ridiculously expensive, and you go into sufficient detail whilst presenting it in that unique voice of yours. I think if you put as much time into putting timestamps on your videos as you do with some pointless video edits your channel would be much better off. It would add another layer of 'okay this guy knows his shit'. And don't get me wrong, I love the channel otherwise.

Thx for the feedback ! I used more FX for the Top5 because it's designed as a short/quick energetic romp into the world of CHEAP-O Multimeters. Normally, I wouldn't use so many FX.
Still, I'll keep your suggestions in mind.
😀👍 as for the music...its been proven to help the video flow. I try to use less often and its normally just as background...one again, appreciate the feedback.
