That is one super hot ride. I had an 85 Trans AM with a 5.0 liter TPI and she was a Torque beast. This one must be a monster, thanks for the video . Brings back a lot of memories.
I believe these were the fastest of all the F-bodies of that year, whether it be the Trans Am or the Z28 because they had the 350 and were several hundred pounds lighter because they didn't have all the excess ground effects.
My dads got an entirely original 1988 formula firebird 5.7L 350tpi all black. Less than 50,000km on it, no rust, never seen a winter. Looks immaculate and I'm hella jealous
That sure is a foxy car you got there . You may already know this but never ever leave this baby in the parking lot unattended . Especially Walmarts parking lot. This is what happened to me 😥. Some a hole smashed the hell out of my right back quarter panel. And you know these cars are unibodies. Never caught the bastards that did it . Walmart said they looked at their camera footage and never saw a car hit mine but I know they lied and didn't watch any video tape . Who ever it was they left part of their plastic grill all around busted up in pieces on the pavement. Hit and run while I was shopping. I should have known better than to park my baby and leave it in the Walmart parking lot while shopping. 1988 Formula Red with ttops. I still got her but paint and body need some work.
I thought by the end of the third Jen's GM wouldn't let you order a 350 with t-tops. I heard after 1990 you couldn't get a 350 with t-tops. Could be wrong though info I've seen on the net varies
The Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 was the only 3rd gen Camaro or Firebird that you could get in 1991 or 1992 with the 350 TPI engine and T-tops. It required the optional RPO code PW7 ultra light weight black GTA mesh wheels. This was because of Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. The Formula weighed less than the Trans Am/GTA or Z28. When equipped with the 350 TPI engine, T-tops, and the ultra light weight wheels it got just enough fuel economy to slip under the gas guzzler tax.
Idk it's nice but somethings off with it. The color of the nose against the hood isn't right and the rear-end is off center to the drivers side maybe it was hit or involved in a accident 🤔 who knows its beautiful but too many ifs for me the door decal isn't correct either. I've owned a few of these cars but I like it it's nice
This is a 5.0l unless someone swapped it. None of the F-Bodies came with T-tops and the 5.7l after 1989 because the torque was twisting the unibody and the corners of the B-pillars and the T-Tops.
That isn't true bud. I have this exact car completely stock in my garage right now. I have had it most of its life. Its 5.7 with the T tops same car is this one. Red. Its a fantastic car.
@mountedpatrolman No these aren't conversions that we own. Lol. We own factory built Firebirds from 1992 with 5.7 liter automatic V8 and Ttops. You just won't accept the facts!
@@dimebrad2760 Dude I ordered several of these cars from 87-92. Google GTAsourcepage look at the car distribution bulletin from 1990. "Removeable hatch roof, UPC CC1 will not be available when the 5.7 liter engine, UPC B2L, is ordered on the Firebird Formula, Trans Am, or GTA models. The 5.0 Liter engine, UPC L89, may now be ordered with an automatic transmission on the GTA. This allows the build combination of a GTA, automatic transmission and hatch roof. This combination has previously been available on Formula and Trans Am. The next printing of the firebird car order worksheet will reflect this change." There were companies doing dealer installed conversions however the factory stopped making them. My cousin had an 88 GTA 5.7 with a Paxton supercharger and the torque creased the B pillar at the intersection of the top of the door and the roof. I currently still own the 1992 Z28 I bought new and was unable to order with T-tops.
Also google this thread on Thridgendotorg "350 and t-tops". There are some Canadians in that thread who claim that the Option was available on Export only Canadian cars, however they were not available here 100%.
I noticed that too. It’s gotta be a 305 TPI instead. I know because I have a 1992 Formula 305 TBI LO3. It says Formula but not “Formula 350”, it would say those exact words w/350 IF it really had a stock 350 engine. This one might also just be a very good swap job.
Good luck finding any nice Formulas today. Very rare birds.

275 lb-ft torque. Torque beast 😂
Drove my black Formula 350 down to the ground. 22 year old with a job at GM and single. Man, I miss being young.
Man. That start up sound. The dash light in red. I Havnt started mine in 5 years.
That’s one sick car man

I have a 1991 Camaro RS V8 all stock. Only 62,000 miles. I love it.
Do you still have the Buick Regal GT that I see in the background?
Sweet Ride...
I own a 1992 pontiac firebird to
What a beaut
Is it for sale?

Not a 350, it has t-tops. Couldn't get a 350 and t-tops after 1989
A rare optioned beautiful '92 Formula. It's missing the PW7 black laced wheels which is the only way to get T-Tops on a 5.7 Formula in the USA. IIRC 🤔
Just wow

Used to gap these in my 87 gt mustang

Where’s the 5.7
Should be on the hood bulge
I never liked the plastic cheapo dash and control switches.

Does not have correct door stickers. That say Formula 350
91 and 92 Formulas did not say formula 350. These are correct. I have exact same on my 91. Bone stock. You are thinking 88-90

That’s why it’s likely a good swap job. It’s still very nice machine.
@@hectorbarajas9316 agreed is a very nice machine but has no collectors value if they change out the original engine.
