We test print three popular desktop colour label printers to see what gives the best results without any messing around. A quick overview.
The DTM-CX86e is a heat fused toner label and tag printer with a strong rotary cutter.
It finds good applications for plastic garden tags and card tickets as well as self-adhesive labels.
It's compact in size and it's 1200dpi print resulution produces a reasonable print, the print is especially durable against sunlight, moisture, oils and chemicals.
The PRIMERA LX3000e is a dye or pigment ink choice label and tag printer with a pizza wheel style dash cutter. The print quality is best in class at 4800 dpi photo quality with vibrant colours possible.
The cutter is best suited to cutting between the gaps of labels at each label or at the end of a run, not suited to cutting thick card or tag.
The Epson ColorWorks C6000MK is a pigment ink label and tag printer again with a pizza wheel dash cutter. The print quality is 1200dpi. Only pigment ink is available an can be not as vibrant as dye ink but a lot more durable. The print head is unique piezoelectric electro mechanical pumping no heat design and very long lasting. Indeed the print head is included / covered by the Epson CoverPlus printer on site warranty. The cutter is best suited to cutting between the gaps of labels at each label or at the end of a run, not suited to cutting thick card or tag.
The BK version good for matt or gloss labels. The MK version best for getting a jet black on matt finishes if you labels contain a lot of black.
