    What benefits would diesels with petrol equivalent rev ranges from?

    • @scrambledmandible
      @scrambledmandible 8 месяцев назад +6

      Irl, probably nothing really
      Diesels run so low in part because everything needs to be built heavier to withstand the higher compression, which puts more stress per rpm than their petrol-built equivalent

    • @gabrielv.4358
      @gabrielv.4358 8 месяцев назад +1

      Its because diesels burn slower and maintain more burn time than gasolinee, thats why its almost impossible to make diesel engines rev past 7000 rpms without witchery

    • @dieselgeezer18
      @dieselgeezer18 8 месяцев назад

      @@scrambledmandible saying higher compression isn't exactly right. You should say that they are built heavier to withstand the higher combustion chamber pressure. That high pressure comes from the combustion, not compression directly. The high compression causes the high combustion pressure, but the compression itself is quite weak and is not the direct cause.
