I was diagnosed with ADHD in recent years (off meds for a long time), and I had a single seizure about 3 years ago as a result of extreme sleep deprivation. I'm trynna do this as a career so I'm going for 1st class. Feeling like is pretty bleak but I hope you're right, I've never wanted anything so bad before. I started taking some lessons here and there just to get my feet wet because I don't have the patience to wait a year just twiddling my thumbs and going nowhere in life. I've become completely obsessed, honestly I have no idea what I'm gonna do if I can't get a special issuance.
I have rheumatoid arthritis and had to jump through a few hoops. I have to get a report from my rheumatologist that says I am able to fly and that I’m not having any Ella fax from the medication. I also did not pass the color blindness test because the room was really dark. So now I have to go get it checked every year with an ophthalmologist.
Thank you for sharing you medical exam experience!
My BP spikes every time for my DOT physical. The doctor has me lay down in a dark room for 5 or 10 minutes.
Thanks for sharing J Crawford!
I had one seizure 11 years ago at 8 years old and I’m hoping to attain my first class medical. I haven’t been on any medication for 9 years now. I know the ame will defer me but hopefully the faa will give me the certificate. What do you think?
Go give it a try!
They actually denied me a medical and revoked my existing third class. They think I have some neurological condition, yet nothing in my life has been out of the ordinary; I went to a four-year college, participated in sports, worked as a bartender for 10 years, trained in flight for 2 years, passed my PPL and accumulated 180+ hours of flight time. Just needlessly took it away from me even though there was never anything indicating I had any problems behind the controls of an aircraft.
Thanks for the feedback.
What time of neurological problem sorry to ask but I’m trying to get mines soon and I’m worried I will run into the same problem
@@valente7436 an epidural hematoma. No seizures though. What are you experiencing?
how long does the exam take as i am taking it for another country?
That will vary depending on different factors as with any medical exam.
When I go for my medical my blood pressure is always something ridiculous like 134/96, then I go see my regular doctor and its like 118/76,...yeah.
Exactly!

Thanks for commenting Bennie!
Do they check your past prescriptions, and current prescriptions? (Do they have access to check your medical records.)
Certain conditions in the past that would bar you today are worrysome. I personally think GA should require a drivers license. That's it.
Sport pilot is already like this.
Have to say, I Flunked my first medical! Eyesight, I heard you should have eyes check BEFORE you go, but I heard this after I went - ok that said, also remember to look through the lower lenses on your bifocals, if you wear them, when you look at the close in stuff. Realized on the drive home when I look at my speedometer that the reason things were blurry I was looking through the wrong lenses at the drs office. long and short, I called back when I got to my office and rescheduled for the next day and passed the next day!
Glad you got it thanks for sharing!
