The price for Odie’s Oil in NZ is almost double the price in the US. I use it on many projects and it does go a LONG way. Oh… the price has gone up about 20% in the past 18 months or so.
I just had a look at the Odie's Oil website. Yeah, it's $55 US, which is $92.70 NZ for 9 ounces. Still a lot for a little! Including shipping it's about $142 NZ from the website.
Have a play with making your own. I genuinely agree with you that a lot of finishes are outrageously expensive. But beeswax and regular timber oils are not. And they go a long way. Consider it. It’s a cool science along with making your own paint somewhere down the line
That top looks really good, well done mate!
Thank you :)
I am also about to be a grandad. This is a beautiful table
Congratulations!
@@PeoplesCarpenter unfortunately she is 17 and stuff.. its good news with some sadness at the same time.. weird situation

Im sorry but its not the manufacturer to blame for the cost of these oils etc, but the manufacturing costs have risen to create these oils have.
That does make the wide discrepancy in prices between similar products difficult to explain.
