The NBA was a lot more physical in those days as well, which makes Stockton's longevity even more impressive.

Yay some Stockton love!!! Great player, tough as nails think he only missed 22 games his whole career (19 years). He's also the all time leader in steals and neither steals nor assists are even close.
EDIT:Shit I made the comment before hitting play, you mentioned all that in your intro XD

Not to mention that he never missed the playoffs!
And he was quiet off the court. No ads, no spotlights. Just like a 9 to 5 worker.

That one guy was lying though . . he tried to sneakily say that if you touched him it was a foul. NOPE.
Now Karl did get calls like that yes , atleast in Utah , but i used to think it was a little odd at times how Stockton , especially if he would drive inside, would not get the calls.
Around 1994 i was talking back at the TV lol and saying Stock you might as well stop driving so much because for whatever theyre not giving you those calls at all and theyre knocking you down.
A couple years later it looks like he caught on and didnt drive nearly as much.
People didnt trY to touch him at the perimeter (very rarely) because he is a type of gaurd you dont try to smother because he takes advantage of that.
Early on teams tried to trap him sometines but but they found out its not a good idea.
I only saw one team successfully trap him one series . .i thiNK it was the Sonics . . if memory serves . . but i do also gotta say that Stockton was oddly a little bit injured during that series so who knows if that played a part in that or not.

stockton could have averaged way more points than he did but he was passing way more often.

Yea as a Jazz fan into the 90s we were all saying he needs to score more for them to succeed (since his fg percentage is so high .. usually led all gaurds in it) . . and they realized it too because oftentimes in the playoffs his scoring averages would go up alot. (except the two times he had nagging injuries and facing Payton in playoffs lol whew that was roUGH ! ) .. he was kind of forced to score more then eventhough we had a very good bench (system really).

Saying Stockton isn’t the career per game assist leader is a bit disingenuous. Magic is the career per game leader but Magic retired as a starter in a much shorter career. Stockton played 19 seasons and had several years of reduced minutes. To put it in perspective, Stockton had FIVE seasons with a per game average better than Magic’s best season per game average. Stockton is the best assist man in league history and it isn’t even close

      Correct.
And the best true stealer we have ever seen. (also ask Maurice Cheeks)
His steals were legitimate not like some later players and ofcourse jordan etc.

not only assist leader but steal too and i won't said he was " dirty" he was " efective" i don't think he was thinking to be dirty i think he was thinking of " what is effective!" with no care if dirty or not!
