- [Spoilers for the 4.0 Archon Quest] In this video I go over Neuvillette and Furina's relationship, how their roles may have changed over the centuries., what is inside the Oratrice, what Neuvillette's real name may be and how the Dragon of Water ended up fighting for humanity.

Hope everyone pulling for Neuvillette gets him!
I got him and I almost never get good pulls, which always makes me want to quit early. Now I’m REALLY having fun with Genshin Impact!
I got him on a 50/50. I wanted to lose the 5050 but he's growing on me slowly. Love his voice lines so I won't complain 😊
I lose to qiqi 💀
Wish I didn’t skip him/go for Hu Tao (didn’t even get Hu Tao, lost 50/50. Then wishes for venti got him, THEN never used him again and then furina came out. I regret getting venti so much
@@massholez I think Neuvillette and Furina will get reruns quicker than most other characters so you shouldn't have to wait too long at least.
So weird that the relationship between Neuvillette and the Furina’s according to this video is reminiscent of Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. With lyney being the celebrity, Lynette being the level headed one who handles things for lyney, and freminet being the diver who is assisting with discovering ways around the prophecy. That would be amazing foreshadowing if that’s how this was intended.
Nice catch! I hadn't thought about that but I agree, that'd be fantastic.
Thank you! Their relationship is the most interesting piece of lore to me for now. Fontaine did an amazing job with all the inter-personal drama going on.
Omg it’s been obvious since we met Furina, she has one eye that looks blank and dull, and one that’s normal and full of life. This is likely a result of her splitting herself.
Their relation is really interesting. And adding to that, Furina and Neuvillette have references to the Whore of Babylon and the Leviathan.
Interesting! I hadn't made the connection with her and Furina but I remember a while back reading about the Scarlet Woman (another name for WoB in Thelema) and she fit with Gold quite well being the mother of abominations. What are her connections to Furina?
@@TheLaughingManLore Her drip marketing titles her as "Regina of All Waters, Kindreds, Peoples and Laws" which is really similar to John's vision: “The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues."
@@kieran1129Exactly !!
Furina is likely Babylone
Neuvillette is Leviathan
Wriothesley as shown in 4.1 is Noah
And Childe is Jesus/Jonah
And Ptahur the well is likely ... well... the well from Jonah story
@@kieran1129 Nice find! I always overlook the drip marketing stuff so thanks for sharing with me.
Haha. Calling Furina the WHORE of Babylon...even as the WHORE of Fontaine....😅😂😂
After playing 4.1 AQ.. whoa your theories are so interesting and might be true. Thank you for cooking this 😂.
I was wondering too why neuvi all this time not trying coup d'etat fontaine and what happened to another 'furina' in the fountain. You rly connecting all the dots now.
Glad you liked it! I still haven't finished the AQ as I got sidetracked in Meropide prison haha, gonna finish it this weekend.
@@TheLaughingManLorethank you, take your time.
as always theories in genshin makes so much sense, but in the end most of the time we actually see absolutely different picture. This makes perfect sense to me, but as always, I'm a bit sceptical, because writers do have their own vision on the story progression, so we might as well receive some other explanation of their relationship. But great work, good thoughts and phenomenal memory, because after almost 3 years playing this game, I actually can't remember shit from some past story missions, nor actual in-game text. So thank you as well for remindings in the video, love it, man
also if so, sorry for my English, i never actually studied it, and so my writing skills are just bad
It's always good to be skeptical, these are just my thoughts and what makes most sense to me but as you say, the writers have their own vision and all the details while we're just using the fragments we have to piece something together that could be wrong due to missing critical pieces of information.
Glad you liked the video and thanks for your support! If you hadn't told me English wasn't your first language I'd have thought it was as it's much better than many native speakers haha
Could be why he goes only by his surname Neuvillette, and no one knows his real name. I plan on ascending him to 90 when 4.2 comes out. Level 80 is still pretty strong and I can level his talents, etc. (not to mention nickel and dining those annoying starfish one by fricking one) but it feels weird to hear that last ascension line like a spoiler. His character stories are hidden also until 4.2. I feel HoYoverse switched up the banners when they realized how many players liked Neuvillette and threw him on 4.1 way too soon. He feels like he should’ve been released in 4.2.
I don't think they switched Neuvillette with Furina per se, considering the leaks that she'll come out on 4.2 have been going since 3.8 (actually, I think since late 3.7); but at points it does feel like they decided to release him earlier a bit. There's too much of his lore that's hidden, and the parts we have already revealed were told in a rather odd way.
I mean, sure, we already knew all about him being the hydro dragon reincarnated, but the way that he says it at the end to the quest is... Odly chill? Like, he gives info (even extra info, not just confirming the Traveler's guess) as if it's not a big deal and then just asks us to keep it a secret. It's weird.
If Furina switch with Neu then the entire plot of 4.2 will ruin by Furina voice lines
For me getting Lumitiole became so much easier once I decided to no longer bother searching the difficult areas and only walked the beach path and the area behind the seahorse.
9:54 - I must have watched 10 or more lore videos on Remuria, and this is the first time I've heard this explanation. This makes so much sense.
It’s interesting that Neuvillette has a beefed up version of the traveler’s powers- where it is normally the archon that does.
Stop spreading this stupid super stretched theory that the Traveler kit is an archon kit. This theory was very stretched from the very beginning, and according to the logic of this theory, the dragon kit is also and even better suited for the Traveler than the archon kit. Dvalin can create a tornado so also a traveler, Azhdaha can create stone spikes from the ground and also a traveler, and etc.
@@iosis9324 Hadn't heard that one re:dragon kits. Makes sense though, invites other questions as to why the statues of the seven would be linked instead to the powers of the dragons per region. If memory serves, the archons and all came into Teyvat after the dragons and evicted them in some sense.
@@griponreality254 Yes, Teyvat used to be a completely elemental world in which Dragons appeared from the elements and were the first inhabitants. Then Fanet came and took the world from the dragons, killed the dragons who did not agree with him, and then remade the world suitable for human life because the pure concentration of elements in the world was not suitable for humans, in general, all elements are essentially the forces of dragons, so the statues are tied to the forces of dragons.
@@iosis9324not the archon power but the gnosis powers. The gnosis has the dragons power so yeah its somewhat true
@@vilvethope Neuvillette In fact, didn't say that Gnosis contains the powers of dragons, he said about the power of the archons containing dragon power.
Keep doing what you’re doing! Haven’t even finished the video but it looks amazing already
Ngl furina was getting on my nerves in 4.0 but now I got a soft spot for her 👀 I’m interested to see how things proceed in the future archon quests
I can't believe this is the archon who wanted to judge the other archons (or so we heard before) 😂
That part fits Neuvillette more now that I think about it haha
Furinas sense of justice made her do something that messed up her own powers to balance the scales in her mind.
Got him, his weapon, and an 8 pity staff of homa, so I'm saving for furina now
Nobody asked bruh
@@chonkyboi._.i’m the one who asked him
@@chonkyboi._.nobody asked you to be born ,yet here you are
@@chonkyboi._.I asked him 😂
Interesting supposition, but of course we're missing the key lore which likely we wont get till the end of the full story arc. Why did the primordial one wrest control from the dragons in the first place. We now know from the 4.1 archon quest that the gnosis were made from a portion of the dragons power. Although I have no proof and it's pure supposition what if the dragons had unjustly taken the elemental power themselves, it changes the whole story. What if teyvat was an abandoned world which they entered from the realm of light , taking the power of the world within themselves concentrating it, ruling with it? But then what if the world was STILL originally made by the primordial one and she/he had just left for some time for an unknown reason? Then in reality he/she isnt the usurper, they are. But to the dragons the primodial one still seems the usurper since they simply didnt believe that the world was hers/his because they inhabited it for a long time for their life spans. (which would be nothing compared to an immortal being)
Yeah the amount of ambiguity in the ancient past is crazy, especially when we add in the whole Irminsul messing with information/memories thing. I haven't done the AQ yet (just finished all the world quests and hunted starfish for Neuvillette) but that's an amazing reveal, I always suspected the gnoses were linked to the dragons!
I've wondered about the PO potentially being the earliest god that went away (maybe on a journey like the twins) and returned to reclaim their world too, it'd be a shock with how we're being told the dragons were the original rulers and I'm expecting at least some sort of twist near the end of the story so that could be it. I've also wondered if PO was one of the dragons that betrayed the others somehow but that doesn't really fit too well and is just a bit of speculation on common themes used in fantasy stories.
Oh actually I just thought, if PO was the original god/ruler of the world that might link up with the lines of the twins becoming the new ruler of the world if they're related.
I doubt this theory. I mean why would PO leave Teyvat and then coming back again. It's just make more sense for PO to create the world and rule it and then leave to find another world.
@@chrisanonym3473i doubt it too. Also if primordial one=heavenly principles, Nahida already theorized that they're the first decender. Meaning they're not originally from teyvat. Unless, again, it has been tampered in the Irminsul records.
Why are there one hundred million trillion subtitles here 💀
This is the first time I've seen subtitles in so many languages under one video
I wanted anyone watching to have them as an option in their language, took a long time adding them all haha
@@TheLaughingManLore good job 👍
I pulled and got him twice within 8 pulls…then I farmed up some more and spent 85 wishes and got his catalyst which is a first…normally I get the one I didn’t want so my weapon pull wasn’t as cursed as it normally is 😂
Just gonna throw this out there but, could he also be partly responsible for the flood in someway? Taking a ride on the “stolen memories” part, could it be that if nuvi were the cause and the hydro archon knew, this could possibly be the only way she could see to stop the prophecy from coming to light? And it may also be why she speaks to him in such a nurturing way hoping that he eventually falls in loves with humanity. Like mentioned earlier about apep, could it be that furina is just simply trying to sway the hydro dragon to our side instead of needing to go to war with him in the hopes that they could all live in peace together? As we know so far , nuvi is the reincarnate, maybe the primordial sea was put into action by the dragon before him? Aaah i love all the possibilities!!! In any case, ist a nice thought. Sorry for the ramble, its probably not worth the read but thanks for reading if u made it this far 😁
He could be yeah, he's at least got some sort of connection to it being the sovereign of water so Furina taking his memories would fit into that idea pretty nicely too. Going to war with a sovereign sounds like it'd bring total destruction to a nation and be an unlikely win for a solo archon too so her trying to prevent it by converting him to the side of humanity would be a pretty good tactic, better than an all-out war at least.
I think it's most likely the dragon before him that set off the punishment/judgement of the primordial sea dissolving everyone due to what Neuvillette says at the end of the AQ too though. He seems to be apologetic and respectful even though he's overruling the previous judgement which is how I'd imagine he'd talk to his predecessor.
Don't apologise for sharing your thoughts! I love reading/discussing the lore so I always appreciate thoughtful comments like yours. :)
The ‘older brother’ dynamic makes sense. The way Neuvillette was dealing with Furina in 4.1 gave me disappointed dad vibes. I was starting to wonder if she was somehow his child
Haha. I'd love it if that was true and Neuvillete was the Consort of Egeria.
Egeria sin was loving the Hydro Sovereign.
are we stealing the sea creatures ability or copying them? because "stealing" means they lose it right?
U right, we copy them
I'd still say we were stealing since it's a hostile action that triggers Baizhu's second constellation which activates once we attack an enemy but I can see what you mean. Maybe I should've worded it more like "stealing/borrowing a part of" since we're able to take from them multiple times.
Furina and Neuvillette's relation is just like the Queen of England and the Prime Minister. 😅
Except I'd prefer the Queen of England over Furina.
@@silverhawkscape2677 in terms of power and authority. That was the original intent. Not about personal character
Omaygat you were right!!!
Interestingly enough I believe Tears Of Themis brought up the battle between Themis and Nemesis the two goddesses of Justice. I think Furina’s split personality could also be a reference to the goddesses Themis and Nemesis.
I think you might be on to something there! I'm gonna read up on those two when I get some free time tomorrow, thanks for the info alice!
@@TheLaughingManLore You got it boss 😎
Spot on!
I'm definitely going to try to pull for him but I hav little to no hope of actually getting him because I pulled Klee on her last banner and am at the moment exclusively F2P.
Good luck, hope you manage to get him early!
@@TheLaughingManLore Best of luck to you on your pulls too!
I don’t think oratrice has another Furina but maybe built by Egeria’s gnosis in dire situation just like Akasha by Rukhdebatta. Or it maybe possible the hydro gnosis is destroyed and furina is now using oratrice as a gnosis for power. It seems fatui did some editing to make its verdict go wrong against Laney. The instance where the guy turned into water is weird. I don’t believe the prophecy of people dissolve into water is real it’s been advertised by Fatui.
The Tsaritsa needs the hydro gnosis, it can't be destroyed. If a gnosis gets destroyed it will awaken the Heavenly Principles as per Nahida. The gnosis is probably inside the oratrice together with the other half of Focalors.
Genshin theories.... I swear!! 💙💙
So in my opinion there is objective proof that Nuevillette will get his gnosis back and potentially strip furina of her archon title and perhaps finally end her suffering (this would be cute :D). Everyone thinks furina has to die for him to reobtain his sovereignty but I disagree I think him regaining it would save furina from her endless suffering one way or another. The proof is in his final ascension voiceline. He states something along the lines of “now that I’ve regained that power of one of the seven stolen by the usurpers, I now have full dragonhood and the ability to judge other gods. And eventually the usurper leader on celestia” not an exact quote but it’s something like that and it’s literally in the game to read right now!
(I’d like to also say that this voiceline makes a MASSIVE PROBLEM for the fatui obtaining the hydro gnosis!
I don't feel like playing this game that much anymore ever since I wasn't able to get the Staff of Homa. This is the second time I wasn't able to get it after two reruns. So sad...
Yeah the weapon banner has never been kind to me either so I get where you're coming from. Not a theorycrafter and my case might be different than yours but my R5 Dragons Bane performed nearly as well as Homa so that might be worth trying out if you already aren't.
Plenty of other options than staff of Homa that do perfectly fine. And weapon banner is the biggest gamble in this game. Never spend on it unless you can guarantee yourself 3 full pities 🤷🏼♂️
Dude. Did you read Genshin Leaks?
Nah I avoid them as they kinda ruin the fun of figuring things out for me.
What if the oratrice is the 3rd sibling? Because furina can tranform into Ousia/ Pneuma which is the other two and there are three seats in the world boss in Fontaine
It's a possibility but I'd have to read up on it a bit more to get a better idea of it, is the theory mainly based on ousia and pneuma being part of a trinity in some irl myth/belief?
@@TheLaughingManLore I just really made up that theory because I thought that the demon that Furina is based on in game is plural meaning theyre might be more of her?
HAHA and all wrong..
I dont think that's Furina, i think that's Egeria
It's not Egeria. Her VA was credited in the Final Feast trailer, and sounds quite different. Also, Egeria's VA wasn't mentioned in the 4.1 trailer where we first heard the sus voice.
I think Furina is definitely the archon still. We obviously won’t no more till the next update. But I’m sensing a sort of miko raiden relationship between these two.
@@blckorb6322 not saying she isn't, just that the voice talking to Neuvi was Egeria, the past Archon.
