Hi Dan, funnily enough I have just bought that very caravan that you reviewed at the end (Compass Corona 576) from Swindon Caravans. We are new to caravanning and so watched your videos for some guidance, then all of a sudden up pops our new van!! We collect it in just over a week and as you mentioned we have decided to have a motor mover fitted to it due to my lack of experience with caravan manoeuvres with a car. Can’t wait to get out and experience the new caravan, am glad that you rated it so well as now I know we’ve made a good choice. Thanks, Nathan.

Hi Dan, another great video, especially as we used to own a 2014 Compass 576 which we bought from Kimberley caravans at the Oct NEC. For us it was great for taking our 2 grandkids with us, with the bunks, if our daughter came along then the dinette was big enough for her, it’s definitely not a 2 adult bed.The best thing for us was the bathroom, lovely and big for washing and dressing young children. We really enjoyed the layout, but at its first service we found out the van was riddled with damp, so we decided to p/x .Other than that, it was a great van for us👍

I have recently brought my first caravan a swift accord 530 2003 in impressive condition for 5500
That Corona was a great choice to feature and the layout would work perfectly for 4 (or 5) as most of the time you could just leave the front double set up and probably all squeeze around the dinette if not eating in the awning especially if the kids were small enough for uk bunks :) great series :)
You are right Dan, the Compass does look like it has been well looked after. A new table and cassette door would make the caravan complete again. Out of the two Bailey vans I prefer the series 2 because the walnut effect wood makes it look more modern. If I'm not mistaken, the maple effect is still used by manufacturers today. Hey, that Ancona is our old caravan we traded in to Swindon last month! We had it from new... it is a great van and we had some wonderful times in it.. I hope the new owner enjoys it and looks after it as much as we did!!! We needed a newer layout so we went for the Sprite Vogue 6TD from Swindon.Loving your channel... :)
Ps We still have the alko lozenge for it if the new owners want to buy it, it's no good to us now, doesn't fit our new van 😊👍😊
NeilDVisual couldn’t you have left it with the van? Ours was left when we purchased it as it was part of the standard caravan equipment
The dealer didn't want me to... advised me to sell it on in order to pay for the new one... In hindsight I would of left it... 🙄

To be honest they were pretty good but when I'm up in Swindon I may drop it in... or trace the owner if its sold.

Interesting vid. I have just purchased an ancona that you looked at, shame you did not spend much time/going into asmuch detail as you did on the last van, it has alot to offer. Non the less, brill vids,keep them coming 👍🏻

I was in the Bailey at 3 mins a few weeks back and still have the video on my phone that I sent the wife. She laughed at me when I said look he’s in the caravan I sent you . Maybe I was too excited .
We went into the one with the damaged table it was stunning but the table took the shine off it. Easy fix though . Can’t wait to get our van in the next few weeks .
We have gone for a swift sprite major 6 in the vogue guise . 2017 model. It has a mid bathroom with the bunks and dinette at the end which will give our two boys their own space and tv area . I wanted an end bathroom but the end window does let in more light even if there is a pinch point in the middle with the bathroom .
Dan , it doesn’t have ATC on it I think the following years did. Would you have this fitted or fit motor movers instead if you had some spare money ? I will be learning to revere but I do see the benefit of motor movers around a storage site and I appreciate that ATC doesn’t replace a badly loaded van or poor driving it’s just there as a back up . Splash the cash or just be careful and learn to reverse ????

I have an easy fix for the table. A table cloth. 😉😁 Or a place mat. Or a vase of flowers. Can you tell I have a tatty old £500 1991 Elddis? 😂 Really interesting videos, thank you. x
Seeing these video's caused me to look at caravans where I live (Australia). UK caravans are given away compared with Australia. Australia is so expensive, perhaps double the UK price.
None of these caravans have a separate master badroom, so if mum and dad want to get it on they're sort of stuffed, unless the kids are out at that point.
if mum and dad did get it on then they would be needing a bigger caravan

We are family of 4, two boys under 5 we currently have a fixed french style bed and we want the layout of the compass so we could leave the middle made up as seating for kids to play at and sit and eat together.
A lot of people who are buying a £15k van will be purchasing on finance, if they are I’d suggest looking at brand new vans, as you pointed out some are not much more, they will have a longer warranty and the finance rates on new vans are much better which means in some cases will actually be cheaper a month than the second hand one that was listed for a few grand less. There also is some good deals like free movers on new ones. For our family none of these layouts work, we prefer having a fixed bed and then our boys aged 9 & 11 sleep on the front sofas as singles leaving the dinette free for breakfast. I’ve always thought that bunk beds are ok if they are very young but they quickly grow out of them so have always discounted caravans with them.
Exactly. That’s why people buy brand new cars! Cheaper finance. Black horse is 2.9% I think. 9.84% on used!

Hi. I've just found your channel, excellent content thanks. I'm new to caravan touring. May I ask what you mean by "a UK restricted license? " I've a full UK license and my tow car is a 2021 Land Rover discovery sport, its max towing weight is 2200Kg.
Would I be legal to tow all caravans in this video?

I know you have done vids on cleaning ect but could u pick a very dirty one with tree gunk over it and do a deepclean inside and out to chow how new u can make one look ours has been on a seasonal under a tree for 11 months and silky is making it look better but not like it use to

Hi Lee, i would get the advice of a mobile caravan engineer. they will know the construction method of your caravan in better detail and also be able to assist with either a repair or at least hiding it.

Use a plunger
We had same dent problem on a damp ABI we were repairing.
As a result of over zealous scraping away at the insulation I went through the aluminium!
We bought some orange reflective pads from Halfords and liquid nailed them over the damage. Good as new !

actually, get an AWS approved engineer to perform a Pre Purchase Inspection. that will include a safely check, damp report and overall condition of the caravan.
