So the righteous Brothers had beautiful, high-pitched voices, but when it comes to Elvis on the stage, forget it. Nobody brings that kind of passion and soul like he did. he knows just had a grab the attention of an audience and drive them through all kinds of emotions as he’s weaving through the lyrics.

This is a documentary That’s The Way It Is u Can Watch it on Prime and it was on HBOMax. I’ve been an Elvis fan for 51 years ever since I saw him on the tv in the concert in Hawaii. The Aloha concert was beamed all around the world in 73 1.5 billion people saw that and I was one of them. I fell in love that night and that love affair is still going on to this day. Yes my husband knows he’s second 🤣 he’s accepted the fact he won’t win. When Elvis died it left a hole in my soul that still hasn’t healed I was so stunned when they interrupted programming to announce his death. I couldn’t breathe or talk I just stood there trying to process what they just said. Your Elvis journey will be fun and enjoyable as u discover the many sides of Elvis. With 31 movies and over 700 recordings in all genres blues, gospel, country, rock and pop or there will be some songs where you will not be sure where to place them he mixes sounds like Faded Love. Then a song like She Thinks I Still Care or Solitaire that will rip your heart out. It’s a long ride strap in your seatbelt and enjoy! TCB⚡️

it was so expensive to film these shows then...especially in color..that when they got a good song they needed for the movie ...they would stop the cameras. so they filmed at like seven different shows i think, but not the entire shows. just enough to get the material they needed.

In the original edition of Elvis, That's the way it is, there was a wide shot where you could see his pelvic thrusts during the chorus, but on RUclips there are only shots from that moment from the waist up. Almost seems like the 1950's again.

Doing 8 shows a week in Vegas, for 6 weeks in the 70s..Elvis had do cover's. Along with his hits
He was insecure doing covers, but IMO..,nailed many of them. When he add libbed and made jokes , or changed lyrics, he'd glance at band, a wink , and getting approval from band, or audience he would the unleash his talent. Elvis is the Goat.

Anything from the 1970 Vegas performance is really good and the 1968 comeback special is also awesome. Elvis looked his best during that time. The 1973 Hawaii concert was good in terms of his vocal performance and he did look good there also but he wasnt quite the lean, mean machine that he used to be. And of course the last concert he did in 1977 was where he was in bad health and overweight. But even then his incredible voice was still with him.
And I forgot about the 1972 film called Elvis On Tour. That about covers the live performances that any Elvis fan should check out

This Performances in 1970 in Vegas are from the movie "Elvis: thats the way it is"

So there are more than 12 pieces.

Thanks for your beautiful reaction! I wish you would introduce yourself at the beginning with your name. That makes the whole situation far more personal and friendlier At least in my opinion.
(The Bar scene in Top Gun is iconic, just like Tom Cruise`s "Sock and Shirt Dance" in Risky Business.
You can say whatever you want about Cruise but he made so many good movies and created so many iconic movie scenes and unforgettable lines.)
Yes, Elvis was very different, awesome, and unique, and at least four times he invented a new Elvis image.
The Righteous Brothers created so many masterpieces and they were vocally very different and outstanding. I consider Elvis`s version of this song another song and he made it his own like with so many other covers he did. The same goes for Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel. Their original is musically speaking an undeniable masterpiece. Elvis`s version touches your heart and soul because it seems as if the lyrics were written for him.
As I said, for me, those are two different songs and I love them both very much and both for different reasons :)))

  • @carolhayar3037
    @carolhayar3037 2 года назад

Thank you for this. The Righteous Bros. were very good but there was nothing like Elvis when he "took over" a song. There are many reasons why he was the best, top of the list i believe was the emotion that came from his soul & his gut; also, he was "real;" nothing he did was forced or "put on;" & of course the power of his voice -- he never yelled -- he was just over-the-top powerful; & he had that deep, manly voice, plus that little raspiness & crack in his voice; even his high notes were very masculine sounding. He didn't need laser lights & smoke -- just "his people" & himself doing what they all did the best, like no one before or since. I'm going to suggest his stand-up version of "Jailhouse Rock" from his '68 Comeback special -- he was a-m-a-z-i-n-g at ruclips.net/video/87N6Qa0D7KY/видео.html . Thank you much.

It’s kinda like the difference between Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston singing I will always love you - both excellent, but evoking totally different emotions. Keep How great thou art (blue suit) in mind - gospel was his forte, and you can see how he enjoys his background singers, especially when JD Sumner goes deep bass! So good to see and hear.

Really? No bias, Elvis' version once again is far superior. You nailed it when you said he is just different. He was definitely a category of his own... I was 14 when he came on the scene in 1956. His ballads are ultimately my favorites of his...there are a few of the faster paced ones I enjoyed but the lasting ones are ballads and spiritual hymns, etc. There's nobody else like him. The only other group that has had such a profound impact on me is Home Free and I was never a fan of a cappella groups. Really enjoy your reactions.

Great reaction! You make some great observations and your appreciation is evident. Notice near the beginning of the song where he does his first "whoah whoah oh" he follows with a "yeah" and smile? He heard something he really likes either from his band, his backups or even maybe how he feels he delivered. Purely organic. I'd say that the Righteous Brothers version probably has better vocals (I love Elvis, btw). But the whole package of this performance is much more mesmerizing. Elvis looks like a superhero in his jumpsuit, his physicality, the backups and the band just make the whole performance more fun for me to watch. Elvis puts a lot of soul into this.
