Superb video !! Question, my front is way to soft, i max out my front suspension occasionally on bad roads. Front suspension from SOFT left , to HARD right 8 turns, how many turns should i make if i want my stiffness stiffer? 10 turns, maybe 15 or even double the amount of stock and turn 16 ?
Okey gonna do a convo woth myself here. 😂 I set everything stock as in this video. My rear is soft but my front is ultra soft. My nose dips every time i use brakes. At least few time in the ride i bottom out my fork in potholes or whatever. When i have my nr2 with me i bottom out front even more often. So now as i literally cant find info i set my own settings and will report on results. My rear set from nr2 to nr3 position , damping left stock and front form preload from 8 turns to 14,5(max cant turn any more) and dumping front also left stock. After test ride will report on feel of the bike etc. but already feels better.
i see many comments about 60kg to 100kg rider, how can it be the same, well most bikes i ever owned had zero adjustment for the front forks, none, zilch, and just some preload for the rear shocks, so he is right the factory has worked out that these settings are acceptable for vast majority of people, if you are heavy or 2up one click up on rear preload

the ,,standard,, settings is for average rider 65-70 kg. if i have 95 kg and i carry luggage/ passengers? if i am a 40 kg girl? how can be perfect for both?
good point, change the preload or buy different springs.
the ,,standard,, settings is the best? for who? for a 110 pound girl? for a 220 pound rider? with or without luggage? cannot be suitable for everyone....

Noone would share with you such knowledge, im impressed. What kind of service manual are you using? Im using Buchelli 5298 for Hornet, tho Shop Manual from Honda, im curious about your version

I have 1.90m and weight 110 kilos which rear spring preload adjustment is better for my weight because I find the suspension on my 2007 Honda Hornet which is in stock (position 2) too soft. I would appreciate it if you help me because I can't find an answer on any Honda forum.
Hello Zatochi, I would start to put the rear absorber spring to position 3. So 1 step stronger and take it for a ride, if the bike feels a bit better, then you could go 1 step more.. Thats the way I would do it. On your frontforks you don't have a lot of options, allthough you might change the inside spring for another (new) progressive spring. There are brands like: Hyperpro, Wilbers, who make them. Hopefully this helps you atleast a bit. Please let us know when you changed the settings what your expirience is with that.

@@TheOldMechanic Thank you for your help. I found position 4 more adjusted to my weight (a little stiffer). I felt a big difference when making curves (less jumps). I hope you continue the good work that you have presented until today since you started the channel. I am already subscribed and I love your videos with the typical Dutch humor.

Ik heb het idee dat mijn hornet ook te hard staat afgesteld voor . Soms heb ik het gevoel bij sommige wegen dat mijn banden te hard opgepompt zijn . Zo een gevoel dat je het ook voelt in je stuur met trillingen
Misschien is het een goed plan om eens de instellingen van de voor en achtervering te controleren en zo nodig terug tegaan naar de basis afstelling zoals ik in mij video laat zien.
Mocht je dit doen laat dan eens hier een berichtje achter of die instelling jou bevalt.

Stupid answer. One can weight 60kg, second 120kg, and you setup same for all, because factory knows better how much weight will have drivers buying they bikes.
That is BS. The standard settings are for rider of 60kg. Can't be good for 80-90kg rider....especially if you have luggage....and god forbid a passenger.
you did hear that he stated in the beginning that he set it to standard .. and THEN it would be tweeked to the rider him self .. you CANNOT start tweaking a setup done by another rider .. this way you are safe doing it and know how many turns in and out. and will ofc have a blank slate to work with

"You dont know nothing" .? .. does that meen that he knows SOMETHING about it ? .. cause if you DON`T know NOTHING .. means that he DOES know something, so please check your self before you go to the Tube and start flaming at people .. trying to help other people, by that he said in the beginning .. SET it to standard .. wich is, if i recall correctly .. for a 60 kgish rider .. and then TWEAK it so it fits your size .. be it riding on the road or a track
