    Really, really helpful information. How do you cable manage the lavalier mic when you hide it?

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  5 месяцев назад

      I don’t! I literally carefully roll the 3.5mm mini jack end into my jeans pocket when not in use. Or I simple attach a wireless transmitter to it, and I out it also in the pocket. I know that purists would raise their arms in outrage because theoretically you should carefully tape it around the collar and the back, and I would do that in a paying gig or professional setting, but I have found that it works just fine for the kind of “action” most people will get up to on RUclips. I hope it makes sense.

    Wow, super helpful video! How would the Hohem wireless mic compare with the DJI Mic 2?

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  4 месяца назад +1

      Uhmm… the DJI mic has a receiver that is far superior than the Hohem’s plus it is 32bit, which 8 believe the hohem is 24. Different target audience, in my opinion. Also, the hohem has a smaller footprint and easier ro plug directly to a phone. Each had strengths and weaknesses. It all depends on what you need from the mics… But if you are looking at this just for pure audio quality recording, DJI’s would be my choice.

    10:00 так у тебя серая куртка или фиолетовая ?😀😀 Как так вышло? Ты красил DlogM от карман 3?

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  5 месяцев назад

      Да, я использую Dlog M из Pocket 3 рядом с Canon и это немного заметно. Я мог бы использовать другой свой Canon с Hohem MT2 и трекером AI, но я записываю образцы кадров в различных видеороликах, которые делаю для предстоящего видео «Pocket 3 против зеркальных/беззеркальных камер», так что в этом решении есть определенная логика!

    Oddly, the audio on this video doesn't sound up to your usual standard - kind of processed sounding - were you using some kind of noise reduction? Anyway, apart from that, thanks for the informative video.

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your feedback! I used different mics in different situations to show the plus and cons... Is there any specific point in the video that you would say is lower quality than usual? Just for me to know whether it was intentional or not (I would have to look into it if that is the case)? Thanks anyway!

      @@SamuelSotiega so far I have only watched the first 2 minutes, but the problem with the sound was immediately noticeable, here anyway. I will check again as soon as I can and report back.

      @@SamuelSotiega I finally found the time to listen carefully on high quality Sennheiser headphones (I have had a busy day falling asleep on the sofa....) and when you got to the part about voice isolation in DaVinci, I thought, aha, that's what I am hearing. It certainly sounds slightly "processed" throughout your studio presentation - to me anyway. Possibly during the location sound tests too but there it gets more complicated because other factors are introduced. At 13:13 (approx) for instance, where you turned on the voice isolation and said that it sounds better, my immediate reaction was quite the opposite! But listening again, I would say that in the part of the video where you are discussing the use of DaVinci audio processing, your voice sounded much more natural to me - as if during that section you had turned off the isolation effect when you were talking about it. Does that make any sense? I must emphasise that it's no disaster, I'm being picky, but you are interested in this stuff and so am I, so we can throw ideas and experiences around. Anyway, it was a very interesting video covering stuff I don't normally do, so thanks for the upload!

      @@Ozpeter I understand know what you mean. Ok, so this is the situation. The section inside Davinci resolve was recorded using my shure SM58 dynamic mic, very close to the mouth, very nice quality. I agree. The "studio" section, essentially the rest of the video, is done in my home's living room that I rig up and rig down every time I do a video like this because I have a family and I am yet to be able to enjoy having a room for myself and "my thing" where I can sound treat/proof the walls and have better audio. It is fairly echoey in the room and adding sound blankets is not practical. I use an echo remover plugin (as shown in the video) and in the process, it removes a bit of the clarity and sharpness of the voice, which I what you noticed. One day I will, hopefully, be able to have my own space to call studio. I used to have one where I even did abstract painting (www.samuelsotiega.com) but then the first came and priorities shifted. But I am always looking at ways to improve things that are easy, lightweight and won't take a lot of time to set up and remove as permanently fixing them is not an option... I hope this all makes sense! Thanks for chipping in and keeping me in check!
