God Bless You, Dr. Kaunda. I am tearing up, but I find solace in the fact that you led a wonderful, productive and, above all, righteous life. At a time when it was too easy to sell out to the big Western corporations and neo-colonial masters, you stayed true to your convictions, remaining an honest man who was dedicated to his people. Very few have done that. Only the bravest and the most righteous! Your beautiful smile and that handkerchief that you so often waved - those are the images that will stay with me until it's time for me to go... I hope that you knew how loved you were by all. Rest in peace, Zambia's and Africa's Lion of Peace!
Only after a true legend dies do you really appreciate his greatness. Thank you KK for the independence struggle you led us in, rest easy now our father of the nation. We will miss you.
Truly a great man of history. Unfortunately he lived and fought in the shadow of Nelson Mandela. I spent the first ten years of my life in Zambia. It was an honour to see the great man visit Livingstone and to see him wave his white hanky while we stood under the mango grove on Main Road. Now I think it's named Falls Road or Musi o Tunya Road.
In my very humble opinion, this very gentle man has not gotten the recognition he deserves. He opened up his country to a lot of refuges and encouraged the beautiful people of Zambia to be welcoming. There may have been some xenophobia but not to the magnitude you see in Zimbabwe or South Africa. I have so much gratitude to the people of Zambia - we lived well in your country and seriously all I can say is - Natotela
I remember this song when he visited Ghana in the PNDC revolutionary era.... he sang it and sang it and sang it again....and even at the airport on his departure, he sang it yet again. The Ghana Armed Forces Central Band plays it so well. I Love the song..!...and i still whistle it joyfully to this day ! RIP, one of Africa's greatest Kaunda
Tiyende pamodzi ndi mutima umo😭😭he his, he was a vibe to the whole continent. Father God help us to continue spreading love amongst our nation, our people in general ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION🥰🥰REST IN PEACE.
This the greatest man in all of history there will never be a man like kk were ever a Zambian maybe always remember who you are and were you come from kk made it all possible our country and the entire southern Africa owe it all to this man. It's high time he gets the recognition he truly deserves. He built us all that we still see around the country he help almost all of the Southern Africa to gain there independence. Let's praise him for that before it's too late his a hero and legend who God
I was in Chingola, Zambia from 1969 to 1977 and studied in the Primary and the Secondary Schools there. At that time my father was teaching Maths to senior classes in Chingola Secondary School. I remember singing this song in the group for Annual Day I think in 1970. The then President Kaunda (also called KK) used to sing this song a lot. He was the one who got Zambia freedom. His contribution to the freedom struggle there has not been fully acknowledged. I also remember waiting with the rest of the children on the side of the road for his car cavalcade to pass through. He would always wave his white handkerchief at all the people standing along the way.
I too was in Chingola then: I remember the primary school always having to line the sides of the roads as he passed, and his car always being late. And his handkerchief waving! A great fondness for Zambia; and look; still no ex-leaders executed, a proper, if young, democracy. Stand and sing of Zambia… and I still have the 45 single of KK and his Cabinet singing the national anthem and tiyende palmodze : a family treasure played every Oct24th
I respect this man, he built the zambia we see today. And indeed God has blessed him with long life. Only those who were very young by his time can not appreciate him.
I have been to Zambia and I love that great and real blessed country,I'm Tanzanian we have lost a great comrade and a great friend. We will never never find the great leaders like H.E Kaunda, Nyerere,Gadaff, and many others, they were smart enough to outsmart muzungu/whites neo colonialism,Today we have a lot of puppet leaders africa will never march a yard
The old man never ceases to amuse me. Great states man for Africa. Kenneth Kaunda is one of a few who made us Africans feel human and proud. Yes and yes we are important too. HAPPY 90th BIRTH DAY FATHER.
I just heard on this great man who inspired the whole of Africa especially when most African countries were in a desperate thirst to uproot colonialism, i equally mourn with you all Zambians because it is in your land this great man emerged, Above all he was true patriot to his beloved continent Africa where he fought shoulder to shoulder along with my national hero Mw.Julius nyerere. Indeed they remain our heroes and true symbol of our freedom and independence we enjoy today. May god bless the whole of Africa for the song that when listened delivers strong hope and passion to our people. I myself don't understand the language used but my feelings deep me into it and enjoys so much of its rhythm.
Grew up in Zambia. Have a signed autograph by H.E. Kenneth Kaunda: "Keep on smiling and always remember to serve the other". It took me years to finally figure what he meant to say. I LOVE this man!
Scottish born , Zambian bred .KK was the very antithesis of your opinions . Gentleman and a scholar . White , Zambian , and proud !! Always King Kenneth and not President !!

My father, my father of Zambia. You have me free education. Boarding school sleeping on a nice bed, , good breakfast lunch and super without paying a penny. Always love you. When am.next in Zambia will definitely come and see you Dad.👏👏👏👏💕
When he insisted on 80% zambian and 20% foreign he knew what he was saying, because then our local industries had a market, now this free market, ie killing our local economy, even the west have restriction on what come in. Viva Kaunda
wow just nostalgic. Heard Mr Kaunda sing this morning at Madiba's funeral and it just took me back in time. Kaunda used to sing this song even on state visits to Zimbabwe in the good old days.

Oh the memories. Thank you for posting this! Our family lived in Zambia for four years in the early 70s (the first 9 months in Lusaka and then we moved to Kabwe). My Dad bought me a '45 single with the Zambia National Anthem on the A-side, and this song on the B-side. I still have it, too!
I have the same 45 single, it was released on the 10th Anniversary of Independence, it says '10 years on' on the sleeve! I was a young boy living in Kalulushi at the time! great Memories!!
Kenneth kaunda The brave would perish rather than to surrender, his courage constitute a command even to the king of Kings, He who will be counted among the best on the day of our Resurrection, And we wish to be dancing side by side with him because his life will continue to give us a new meaning and a new awakening as Africans of Africa and Africans in the diaspora

Very sad to hear of the passing of Kenneth Kaunda. His name will forever be synonymous with independence. You cannot think of Zambia, without remembering his leadership. RIP.
I know, we are who we are because of him "ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION" at our party to celebrate the chipolopolo boys, we sang TIYENDE PAMODZI people listen to the words. That's why Zambia is united.
When I see the clip, I remember when Kaunda went on a hunger strike for several days until Julius Nyerere visited him in prison and brought him some biscuits. I was not there but I imagine, Nyerere telling him something like, " bro, we went through a lot trying to fix our continent, and you're not going to die in this fashion on my watch! Now eat and if you don't, I am not going back to Tanzania", and he probably replied with " Fine, Mwalimu, but tell this people to stop harassing me"!
Wow!! Memories, history, the 'one Zambia one Nation' - without the '...that leader...' bit - legacy that is a unique Zambian characteristic of peaceful coexistence. Good version of the popular patriotic tune and a great nalstogic slide show. Thanx 50Kwacha
