I don't know under what rock did trump live, but weirdly enough, this exact deck has been metagame for last 3 months and is the actual very scrumbag hunter deck I hoped to beat when I opened this video. So this video has no meaning whatsoever, as it is running the very same deck...
There's something that a lot of people aren't getting. This version of face hunter isn't scummy at all. The reason that hunter is usually scum is that they have/had such absurdly broken cards (undertaker, buzzard, highmane, etc.). Other than Mad Scientist, there isn't a single card in this deck that's even close to being broken. All it does is uses its niche as a super-fast deck to close things out as fast as possible and that isn't any more 'scummy' than a control deck drawing things out as long as possible. Broken cards = scum. No broken cards = not scum.
If thats your opinion on what scum is then sure. A deck designed to completely ignore the board as much as possible and just go for face falls under mine.
EbonMaster But the thing is, what Trump is doing is a completely viable tactic. Going for the face all the time and avoiding the board is a great tactic since your opponent can't do much about it, but onto my point face decks are not scummy at all and they have been around since the collecting card franchise has even started, so now all of the sudden because the hunter deck in hearthstone is a great deck that can win games easily doesn't mean its a OP deck it means that its a great deck with a very high win ratio (hence why Trump is using it). People need to stop complaining since magic the gathering has decks with the exact same purpose as the hunter decks in hearthstone, try go complaining about how magic is unbalanced, see how well that goes for you. Also you guys got to realize it is next to impossible to make a card game like this completely balanced, of course there are going to be unbalanced cards that's just the nature of card games.
Hydra Not saying that its unbalanced as it does have counters. Not saying that its not a valid tactic as imo as long as its in the game and doesnt break the games core rules (like a glitch or something would), its a valid tactic. Just saying that its scummy. As in its cheesy, brain dead and anti-fun. Like Campers in fps games or Ken players in Street Fighter who spam Shoryuken like 90% of the time.
Every card game has decks like this, pokemon has nightmarch, mtg has rakdos, hearthstone has face hunter. It will always feel scummy whenever someone turn one deals 270 damage in pokemon, or to face about 5 puny creatures with high power in magic, and it will always feel scummy to play against face hunter. It is a valid play style, it is just that most people prefer having longer, more strategic games rather than just bashing someone in the face repetitively, (admittedly, I do find this fun on occasion). In games like hearthstone, where the meta is a faster changing thing because it is an online game, I will play scumbag decks so that people start countering the scumbag decks and it brings the meta into a more balanced position (hopefully). In games like magic or pokemon which aren't online (or at least I don't play online) the meta changes much more slowly and there are more cards and there are no classes to limit what cards you can have. So you are more likely to end up playing a tried and true deck than a "scumbag" deck. My point is, scum will exist in any game, in any meta. It is just something that you try to avoid or to counter.
I always said that if Kezan Mystics become meta, Secret decks will include them so they can steal their secret back! So far it seems I was wrong but we will see...
They're basically representing what ruined mtg. Too much "oh, it's hard to play around that so let's just add a freaking hardcounter to the game". Too much "this does this specific thing in this specific situation" lessens creativity and makes the game more luck based, cuz of matchups. Like if you would be playing kezan against a shaman. What fucking secret will u steal then? It'll just be a big hindrance to u.
[...] so our hero was falling even deeper into Abyss of Scum. His mind was so engulfed by the scourge that he could not even see his sins to the World. Our fallen angel justified his actions as acts of greater good... Great was his astonishment when he discovered what was happening... The Council of Meta overtook his doings and forged ways to stop the Plague. Once Mighty Trump was sad that He, The Chosen One was unable to hunt those evil beings which he became one of. Nevertheless yet, there is always Light in the Darkness....
There is a very simple mathematical explanation for why Hunter's seem op; it's their hero ability. Most hero abilities are designed to be between 3-4 times less mana efficient than a card. A Mage's hero ability deals 1 damage for 2 mana. A Frostbolt deals 3 damage for 2 mana, and also freezes the opponent. A Fireball, for double the cost, deals 6 times more damage. On average, this is over 3x greater efficiency. A Paladin's hero ability summons a vanilla 1/1 for 2 mana. Meanwhile, you can get a Wisp for 0 mana. Mathematically, this is an infinite difference, but in practice we can call it about a 4x difference. The card Muster For Battle summons 3 of these same 1/1's for 3 mana, and also plays a 1 mana weapon, meaning these 1/1's are worth no more than 0.75 mana (about 4 times less than the hero ability, perhaps a little less) So the hero's are worth about 4 times less than a card. The ratios are similar in all classes; some are perhaps a little higher, some perhaps a little lower. But they are all in that range. But then you get to Hunter, who's ability deals 2 damage to face for 2 mana. If you were to use a Holy Smite or Arcane Shot on face (funny how they are effectively the same card) then the ratio, based on that damage, is only 2x the Hunter ability. But, obviously, the value is Arcane Shot/Holy Smite is the fact that it can target things. So a better comparison would be something with a similar effect that can only hit face, like the Priest's Mind Blast, which deals 5 damage to face for 2 mana. This comparison makes Hunter's ability 2.5x less efficient, a little better, but it is still a much better ratio than basically any hero ability. In short, Hunter, when doing what Hunter does, gets more value doing it than any other hero in the game. That is why Face Hunter is so powerful, while Control Hunter is generally poor and not competitive. And unfortunately, changing the hero ability so that it targets random minions instead will not solve this problem; it will only make the Hunter an equally vicious control player, as it will now have a half-cost Flame Cannon for a hero ability. To fix this, Hunter would need to be carefully redesigned.
Change the cost of hunter's power to 3 can be a intresting idea. But nowadays it's not necessary, because are beeing developed a lot of hunter's counters, as you can see in the video
The reason Hunters hero ability can be more efficient is because face damage is not very efficient. Your way of calculating mana efficiency is flawed. Hunters get more mana value than any other hero aiming at face, sure... but what about when a mages Fireblast or a Paladin recruit kills a 1 drop? Or when a Silver Hand Recruit gets Quartermastered? Or Rogue's hero power in Oil Rogue? These hero powers usually get far more value than you're saying they do - the hero powers don't cost a card, whereas the cards you're comparing them to do. Not to mention synergy with class cards. Or what about the Warlock hero ability, which is +1 card and -2 health for 2 mana - when +1 card is valued at 3 mana(arcane intellect, thoughtsteal) and 2 face damage is valued at ~0.67 mana(Sinister Strike). That puts Warlocks hero power at MORE efficient than the card version. You can't compare classes like you're trying to do. They are the sum of their parts. If you completely swapped Hunter's hero power with Rogue's, you would be making Rogue a WORSE class by severely nerfing one of the strongest decks in the meta and weakening many of their class cards, no matter how efficient the Hunter hero ability is. Warlock has probably the best hero power by far, but he has a fairly lacking card pool. I'm not going to comment on whether Hunter is overpowered, or rank the current decks, or anything like that. I just want to clarify that a direct hero power mana value comparison is not a good way to compare classes, and that your way of doing it was flawed either way.
Your comparison is completely wrong. Looking at spells that target only the hero character, such as Sinister strike (1 mana 3 dmg), you'll see these spells deal about 3 damage per 1 point of mana. Steady shot deals 2 damage, making it worth roughly 0.6 mana as a card. This is only slightly above average. If you take mage's hero ability for example, and compare it to Smite or Arcane shot, you'll see Fireblast is worth about 0.5 mana. Paladin's ability is valued roughly the same. Life tap on the other hand, is worth almost 1 mana. In other words, Steady shot is nothing special. Its simply the only hero power in the game that 100% synergizes with an aggressive playstyle, so its obvious hunter will excel at using aggro decks.
Nono Kranendonk The thing is, none of those matches were "interesting", they were all just Trump going for face. Jens just edits out the downtime, not any particular matches, and you can keep track of his wins/losses with his stars anyway.
"A fluke, a fluke, that's what it is" even if Trump said that, I think he himself understood pretty quickly how the meta at that moment was full of Kezan Mystics and heal spam to counter Hunters (and Mages to a lesser degree, since secret mages are in decline) into oblivion. But he can't just tell the stream that his deck is not gonna work after 2 games :P
Actually part of the process of hunting could be patiently waiting for your prey to appear, with you being in a safe distance from it so you wont get spotted.
I feel that the Blackhand legendary is kinda meh. Hungry Dragon is OP af. 4 mana 5/6 is just silly, and the 1 cost minion you give your opponent could be an angry chicken lol. Anyways really looking forward to BM ^^
But it is good. It's just very situationally good. And often bad. That does not mean Fel Reaver cannot be a superb card. Sometimes it's absolutely fantastic. Sometimes... Well, let's not talk about that.
AmazingHatOfDreams Hahahaha. This literally made me burst out laughing. THIS is true denial! "Dude, it's an 8/8 for 5 mana! The drawbacks? Well, let's not focus on that, but 8/8 for 5 mana!"
there is no need to justify the use of the one true path to value trump. embrace the rage, embrace the speed. embrace the aggro and you will fulfill your duties as the chosen one, for you were chosen not to destroy aggro, but spread its glory and power! you are OUR champion and were always meant to be!

Anyone else notice how at 8:52 Trump says "We'll edit out the losing" and in the previous too matches Jens put a "victory" instead of a defeat? Well played!
I hope that Blizzard adds some sort of Hunter card that helps control hunter in the new expansion. I doubt that control hunter will be as viable as face hunter until Blizzard changes the class itself, but it would help.
WAAAAAAAY back in the day, when Magic first came out, people were saying how broke red was due to the amount of burst you could do, lightning bolt, fireball etc. Then white blue control came and then black and green and so on and so fourth. Every class will have its up moments and down moments based on the meta. Decks will be made that counter the particular Hunter/aggro meta which is control and then midrange will dominate, its a cycle.
This reminded me on a catchphrase ,"to defeat them you must become one of them and eradicate them from the inside". I think he's trying to eradicate hunters by showing us it sucks
I can't help but think that all the Warlock games have corrupted Trump's heart. He's turning to the dark side more and more every day, rushing turns and going mad with power. He's even starting to sound kind of like Mandark from Dexter's Lab. Incoming cosplay?
Its brilliant by losing to decks that counter his as a hunter he encourages those decks to continue playing. Then each person who defeats him would potentially destroy several other hunters. He's done more harm to the hunter deck by losing as a hunter than he possibly could have by beating them alone.
i know many might hate this vid cause of the "the mighty trump has fallen to the abyss" argument.. but i fucking love it... personally i'd never play hunter unless my mother's life depended on it but seeing trump have so much fun is awesome looool "go go go go go go" hahaha
Trump sounds like Light Yagami from Death Note; "You fools! I am trying to make the world a better place!" "I'm going to clean up this world!" "Those who oppose me are scum!"
I see Trump drop to rank 17 and i was sad for him , but then i remember i hit rank 10 around the time of the video and i have the biggest grin on my face.
oh my god i start laughing so much when he started winning and playing super fast like halfway thru the vid XD and the abusive that broke the game XD and complaining about ppl who take long on turn 2 and just everything XD so funny, literally laughed out loud
I actually get really happy when you lose when you're playing hunter, Trump. Just seeing that rexxar face pop up when i enter a game makes me nauseous.
If you dont want to play hunter, yet advance swiftly on the ladder, just play Mech Druid (innervate, wild growth, mech pack, fow+roar, ancient of lore) my only legendary in it is KelThuzad, but it is easily playable without any legendaries whatsoever (especially if you have Piloted Sky Golems, which I dont :( )
i been playin mid range hunter the only card i dont have is mad scientist. whats a good replacement? i put in glaivezooka and deadly shot seems to work decent
Fighting hunter with hunter is like trying to clean up a dog shit with diarrhoea.
Or trying to put out a fire by lighting a forest fire next to it so it will steal all of the oxygen and die out.
That comment is WORTHY of the AVGN seal of approval!
MALEMization
That's some low standards
I don't know under what rock did trump live, but weirdly enough, this exact deck has been metagame for last 3 months and is the actual very scrumbag hunter deck I hoped to beat when I opened this video. So this video has no meaning whatsoever, as it is running the very same deck...
Scott Thompson That's pretty much how they put out forest fires, controlled burns.
Playing face hunter is so easy that Trump didn't even need to clean his glasses before doing so.
There's something that a lot of people aren't getting. This version of face hunter isn't scummy at all. Kezan Mystics are so popular right now. It's beautiful.
Why play around a secret when you can just take it
Jspath3 True true.
I always said that if Kezan Mystics become meta, Secret decks will include them so they can steal their secret back! So far it seems I was wrong but we will see...
nikos9321 I have seen mech mages run kezan mystics.

Excellent victory editing btw. Lol what made it even better was trump constantly saying he was the good guy/hero despite having broken bad.
Trump's decent into darkness continues...
descent
Rok XY Shuuush. No one will notice if you don't point it out! :D
Rok XY ...You can edit comments.
See? Like this
We could call it Amnesia:Darkest decent
LOL Jens.... those rainbows at the loss screen after the first match.... you make my day, man! The little touches are so good!

This is like when Australia brought in Cane toads to try to curb the grey-backed beetles that were destroying their crops.

Trump's playing so quickly he manages to break the game several times. I like this pace.
Ironic that you didn't actually hunt any hunters lol.
He probably did, but only the interesting games are shown
Nono Kranendonk The thing is, none of those matches were "interesting", they were all just Trump going for face. Jens just edits out the downtime, not any particular matches, and you can keep track of his wins/losses with his stars anyway.

xRelyz Ergo by Trump remaining hidden from the hunters he defeats them by proxy.
damn. those first 2 druids had the perfect hands vs him. like it couldn't be better constructed lol
and the paladin too. lol
"I am a molten giant, i'm going to kill a dog."
I laughed way too hard at this.
I love the crazy comments that Trump utters during the game, making all this far more epic and enjoyable.
*The scuminess intensifies*
In other news, the next Hearthstone adventure was announced ^_^
omg already? i still lack so many of the legendaries from the early set :S its going way too fast for f2p to keep up XD
naruto00nix adventure cards come easy though, you should be fine, its like Naxx not GvG
I feel that the Blackhand legendary is kinda meh. Hungry Dragon is OP af. 4 mana 5/6 is just silly, and the 1 cost minion you give your opponent could be an angry chicken lol. Anyways really looking forward to BM ^^
Jell-o Hammer But probably either worse than shredder or OP as undertaker once was
Will the first wing be free just like naxx?
He.. he can't think clearly. Trump, come back to us. We will forgive you, just put the hunter deck down and let's forget this ever happened
Hunter : Every defeat is automatically turned into victory ! :D
Trumps more in denial than the time he thought fel reaver was good
But it is good.
Well, let's not focus on that, but 8/8 for 5 mana!"
maccajoe nice troll
That's because Fel Reaver ís good.
Woooo, i am going to discard 9 cards playing low mana cards and not playing on cuve to awnser felreaver. And now i will discard your face
there is no need to justify the use of the one true path to value trump. embrace the rage, embrace the speed. embrace the aggro and you will fulfill your duties as the chosen one, for you were chosen not to destroy aggro, but spread its glory and power! you are OUR champion and were always meant to be!
"I'm the hero of this story!" Says every villain ever.
For the record, I don't hate hunters of any kind. Just thought Trump's assurances of himself as comical ;)
You know, Jens, your own shammy deck you've played a while ago, counters every single scum hunter, being able to finish the game in 4 - 6 turns. No jokes.
Each time Trump hits the hero power of a Hunter, a kitten dies. And each time I see Trump falling for the dark side of the OPHuntard, my soul dies a little bit.
Stop the kitten apocalypse!. Stop the kitten genocide!. Trump, stop falling into the dark, and COME BACK TO THE LIGHT!
You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villian...
Lol, Jens editing in victories. I love it. The rainbows really made the moment.
New drinking game....
Drink when Trump mentions that he is the good guy.
In spirit of the theme, watch this in x2 speed.
You stare into the abyss and the abyss stares back.
The sergeant is so abusive, he gets in the PLAYER'S face... AND his end turn button.
Anyone else notice how at 8:52 Trump says "We'll edit out the losing" and in the previous too matches Jens put a "victory" instead of a defeat? Well played!
I was expecting Trump to be cleaning his glasses when the video started, I was disappointed :(
I actually hugely enjoyed those first two games. Lots of laugh from this end.
You were supposed to be the chosen one ! You didn't destroy the hunters, you've become one of them !
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
Nice edit at the end of the first match, Jens! xD
"Im the good guy here!"
He truly has lost his way. One cannot simply use hunter and call themselves righteous
Video called "Hunting the Hunters"
Doesn't face a single hunter. Love it
The trolling is in full swing this episode.
I hope that Blizzard adds some sort of Hunter card that helps control hunter in the new expansion. I doubt that control hunter will be as viable as face hunter until Blizzard changes the class itself, but it would help.
Good editing jens, trump never loses *Wink*
WAAAAAAAY back in the day, when Magic first came out, people were saying how broke red was due to the amount of burst you could do, lightning bolt, fireball etc. Then white blue control came and then black and green and so on and so fourth. It's not the destination that matters, but the journey there...
if you stare into the hunter long enough the hunter stares back at you...
I'm honestly impressed at how players are countering hunter! I'm so happy ;)
This reminded me on a catchphrase ,"to defeat them you must become one of them and eradicate them from the inside".
I think he's trying to eradicate hunters by showing us it sucks
I was almost expecting a Helmet Nesingwary in the anti-hunter hunter deck.
I can't help but think that all the Warlock games have corrupted Trump's heart. He's turning to the dark side more and more every day, rushing turns and going mad with power. He's even starting to sound kind of like Mandark from Dexter's Lab.
Incoming cosplay?
LMFAO when he put the abusive sergeant so fast he broke the game xD and then hes like ehh good enough
You were supposed to bring balance to The Force! You were supposed to destroy the hunters, not join them! You were the chosen one!
You guys keep saying '0 hunters hunted', but there actually was one hunter hunted game after game... :)
Trump's fall from grace to face hunter has been just beautiful hasn't it?
Nice one jens, 8:45
You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
Trump's lust for speed just broke the game. He had a ''I whent to far...whoops'' face, and just shruged it off, that was funny poor abusive
23:09 LOL Trump's so fast it couldn't process his deck's speed.
But Trump! You were the chosen one! You were supposed to bring balance to the meta, not leave it in darkness!
watching this gives me hope for the future. The hunter hunter meta is over. we have WON!
Great show, fun to watch
Trump playing Hunter: "I'm the good guy here!"
Others playing Hunter: "You scumbag Hunter!"
dear rnjesus this is is the third hubter video the past few weeks!
Its brilliant by losing to decks that counter his as a hunter he encourages those decks to continue playing. Then each person who defeats him would potentially destroy several other hunters. He's done more harm to the hunter deck by losing as a hunter than he possibly could have by beating them alone.
This should have been titled "Trump Plays Candyland"
It would be nice if the date these games were recorded was in the description, just to see when the meta was where it is in these videos.
Trump couldn't resist the power of the Dark Side.
there's that old saying by Nietzsche that fits this situation quite well...
Who is this Kevin Dong who logs in halfway through every trump game ... A mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in wrapping paper.
This deck reminds me of face rogue back from pre naxx.
i for one welcome our new evil trump overlord
"Faster, faster!"
I'm already of 1,5 speed -> goes to 2 speed.
i know many might hate this vid cause of the "the mighty trump has fallen to the abyss" argument.. but i fucking love it... personally i'd never play hunter unless my mother's life depended on it but seeing trump have so much fun is awesome looool "go go go go go go" hahaha
We need a "battlecry: gain a random secret" or "deathrattle" or just something like that, so everyclass could have a random secret =P
I just won 7 games in a row with this deck and got 200 gold due to dailies. Thanks trump. Now I am the cancer
On that day... Not a single hunter showed up to fight against.
Best video yet. That was hilarious.
I think we got it Trumpsy. You are the good guy, you play the scum drift out the scums ... WE GOT IT FIRST TIME ! xD
how smart he got his enemies dizzy by being so fast :)
Trump sounds like Light Yagami from Death Note;
"You fools! I am trying to make the world a better place!"
"I'm going to clean up this world!"
"Those who oppose me are scum!"
I see Trump drop to rank 17 and i was sad for him , but then i remember i hit rank 10 around the time of the video and i have the biggest grin on my face.
lol are you serious ?
That paladin was funny. Playing both Harrison jones and BGH on rank 15... maybe he thought he was in some kind of a tournament match.
"guys, I'm the good guy here !!!" aaaahh-hahahahahahah !
*Not a single hunter was hurt while making this video.
oh my god i start laughing so much when he started winning and playing super fast like halfway thru the vid XD and the abusive that broke the game XD and complaining about ppl who take long on turn 2 and just everything XD so funny, literally laughed out loud
starting from 19:25 when he played the worgen b4 the game started XD
lol the defeat rainbow thing.
Jens you madman, Trump must not go past the speed of light!
22:06
That was painful to watch that Handlock player trade his giants into 1/1 dogs and use a Siphon Soul on a 1/1 as well.
I don't get the dislikes. I think it's fun to see Trump do something other than control for a change.
24:12 Here we see what remains of once respected control Trump. Rest in peace.
Yessss trump, let darkness consume you! YOU DIDNT EVEN SEE THE FINAL FORM OF DARKNESS! >:D
i appreciate this very much!
I actually get really happy when you lose when you're playing hunter, Trump.
Just seeing that rexxar face pop up when i enter a game makes me nauseous.
I'm pretty sure Trump is pulling our collective leg with this one.
Best victory screen EVER... xD
Lol the victory screen @5:32
The way to hell is paved with good intentions.
What do you guys think is the best replacement for Mad Scientist in this deck?
If you dont want to play hunter, yet advance swiftly on the ladder, just play Mech Druid (innervate, wild growth, mech pack, fow+roar, ancient of lore) my only legendary in it is KelThuzad, but it is easily playable without any legendaries whatsoever (especially if you have Piloted Sky Golems, which I dont :( )
Gotta go fast! *increase speed to 1.25* (damn, I wish it was kripp)
This was very entertaining
i been playin mid range hunter the only card i dont have is mad scientist. whats a good replacement? i put in glaivezooka and deadly shot seems to work decent
"I'm a good guy"
