Thanks for this video. I'm an LI native whose been considering getting open water certified. I've been putting it off because I don't have a lot of money to travel out of state and thought the water here (from what I've seen from boats/beaches) looked too murky to really be enjoyable (I would want to be able to see stuff, ideally wildlife, not stare off into a murky soup that has all the visibility of a complete silt out, lol). Really cool to see what diving conditions off of LI actually look like, because based on this it looks totally worth diving and like I'm gonna start saving up for my certification.
I live in Rocky Point so just a few miles from Sound Beach and this was absolutely stunning! I'm always interested in what we cannot see. I would love to see videos of you finding treasures under the water.
SAME haha i live right off tides beach and been fishing that beach since i was born. never knew we had squid. Would love to see if there's any treasure down there !
@@ReplyGuyChrisHey neighbor! 👋🏼👋🏼 I see you like Kitboga. You should check out Scammer Payback, Deyo, Pleasant Green, Jim Browning , Artifce, Trilogy Media, Modder Paul Scambaits (he’s mostly on Twitch-and he just went live as I am typing this). All great scambaiters.
@@ReplyGuyChris Haha! that's great! He's awesome... check out his playlist... By D Grace of God if you haven't already. He pretty much does what I wish I could do.. he helps scammers. (at least those who want help). Most ghost you when you start trying to help them because they just want to scam.
I live out near pittsburgh, but grew up on woodhull landing rd, my parents still live there and my family and i still visit and enjoy our beach club down the street every year!
Hey. Hello Well that so cool because I'm was Born in Bridgeport Connecticut at St Vincent's hospital Back in 1962 and did a lot of Fishing for snappers and Flats and swimming in the Sound ya! I Heated them dang sea robins
Thanks for the video, would love to see more of Life lives down there. I grew up in shoreline Connecticut so I spent a lot of time in the sound but I never really went out there diving
Cool Video man, thank you for sharing. The whelks on the East Coast aer way bigger than the ones we see here in Alaska. And those egg cases were awesome. we don't have anything to compare to your sea robin. If you're ever in SE Alaska, let's go diving.
Don't tempt me! Glad you guys out west are getting a chance to "virtually" experience our dive sites back East. Have you been to the interactive map on our website? Squalusmarine.com has a mess of stuff to check out. Are you affiliated with a dive shop or a charter operation? Thanks for the positive feedback!
I will be certain to look at your website. Thanks for the heads-up. And nope, I am not associated with any shop. In fact, there are no dive shops in Sitka,. Sadly, the last one went out of business a few years ago, so we're diving out of date tanks and sharing the compressor in my friends garage.
8:38 I was at the sound and one of those fish swam up to me when I was about 2 feet Into the water and then i foolishly tried catching a friendly fish which I now regret cause he was friendly lol
I cant believe how clear the water is out there compared to huntington, what time of year was it? I thought squid only came through the sound in November
We have all kinds of shipwrecks in the sound. Check out our website for other videos. There's a map where you can explore everyplace we have filmed. Over 108 videos. Squalusmarine.com.
Thank you Lucas! I am glad you like them. We have a new one coming out today! I just ask that if you like the show, that you share the videos with others. :)
Captain Dennis I was wondering can citizens who aren't in the marines or coast guard scuba dive like you do Im not sure if you need a permit or not from town hall or the state cause I was wondering if I could join on a scuba dive and we can scuba dive off on one of your youtube videos at the north end of Charles Island thats visible during low tide in Milford Connecticut too see if Captain William Kidd threw his treasure overboard of were more of an island is covered since the hurricane of 1929 it we be the biggest discover of new haven county
I think those Squid are aerating the eggs... trying to get as much oxygen to them as possible. greatly shortens their lifespan (which is short anyway) for the greater good as it takes alot of calories to do that for a week!
I think you are confused. "Sound Beach" is the name of a town on the north shore of Long Island. It's located between Rocky Point & Miller Place, near Port Jefferson.
living in sound beach it cool to see this recommended to me
Thanks for the video! You guys are awesome!
Excellent 👍 Stony Brook native here. I dove off Rocky point Wading River.

Where do you go that the water is so clear??
9:30 that's a sundial related to the wider flounder
There's not much sea life up north. Tropical climates seem to have much more sea life.
awesome video have you ever found something historical like part of a ship or something from the colony days

I live 5 mins away from the sound for my whole life and I didn't know anything that I saw in this video
Visability is sick. Was it like slack tide or a certain time of the year?
The squid seemed to check out the camera
I think those are not Sand dabs, but Hogchockers
How much is it to get your scuba license?
Those founders are called hog chokers
Comenting four years later 46th
