i have that same boombox in solid black, i love the light show but they should have made the speaker lights blink on and off. i have a silver gpo brooklyn i like way better and looks more like a true 80s boombox with cassette player. i used to own the lasonic trc 931 and the conion c-100f back in the 80s. my 1998 jvc rv-b90 bazooka which i still have blows away all those 80s boomboxes, the big bass from it rattles my windows way better than my monster size bumpboxx v3 which i rarely use.

I have tried just about all the modern boomboxes and sadly they are all junk. The build quality is either poor or the sound sucks or both. I do have a lasonic trc 931 in mint. Unfortunately keeping it running is a challenge along with all my other 80s boxes. Glad u enjoyed the video

I recommend you check out my aiwa exes 9 video. Now that's a proper boombox. Only thing it needed is cassette, CD, radio and a boombox handle. Oh and Rgb lights. So I added them. The sound is phenomenal.

Mine was from HSN for ~$130 shipped. The light show should be turned off when unplugged running on the battery. Leave the light show when plugged in to avoid overcharging the small LiPo battery. It might be possible to replace the small battery with a larger one of the same voltage. There are two wires going to the battery. It may be possible to ruin the battery by charging it too long, like if your CD completes and it's left on. But I think it charges whenever plugged in because the charge light will show red or green.

I actually return my unit because the sound quality was not very good and went and got an aiwa EXOS nine instead. The sound quality is insane on that unit and then I just added in my own LED lights that could be controlled by Wi-Fi and synced to the music.

Modern electronics should have overcharge protection meaning you can’t overcharge a modern rechargeable battery. So if you’ve experienced one of these overcharging something is seriously wrong.

The 80s Panasonic had way better bass and a much richer sound. The problem is how much has the sound quality degraded from what it was when it was brand new. Just comparing the studabaker to something like the aiwa exos9 makes the studabaker sound like a kids toy. I was mainly disappointed becuse I love its looks and being how advanced we are now a days I expected the sound quality to at-least match a good high end Bluetooth speaker. Sadly listening to it in person it didn’t.

Really?!?! You are doing “sound tests” yet you don’t bother to turn off the tv in the background!
