I dare to say all the grunge legends - nirvana, aic, soundgarden, mad season - are fantastic unplugged. There is something in their acoustics that's lost with electrics.
When i was 13 i was obsessed with this song. It put me in a trance. It also made me feel like the end of the world was soon, it's so gloomy but amazing.
It's not about the apocalipse,it's about anything you want...it doesnt's have a subject...it's abstract,I love all the versions of Black hole sun,I know the song on my electric guitar,I will play on acoustic,I never played it on acoustic
I am in love with Chris Cornell... and Kurt Cobain. There's something about the 2 of them. I'll never get over this loss. Will miss them both for the rest of my life but my hope is that one day I'll be in heaven hanging out with the 2 of them and none of this will matter anymore.
+Gary Graham B, it is not Drop C Sharp- this is incorrect. If you'd like, try tuning your guitar to Drop C sharp and playing along with this performance- you'll be off by a half step. The correct tuning is drop C.
Saw this man live with Audioslave the best gig ever!!!! I was transfixed for the whole gig! I was with my wife and son. Life changing and now I can’t get by the fact he is gone. X
I shook Chris' hand front row at the armory show in NYC June of 1994....had a smile that lit up the room... I was chanting LET's GO Rangers between every song as our Rangers had just won the Stanley Cup days before the show...he come over laughed, shook my hand and toasted our NYR. Great times.
Still remember devouring Soundgarden's catalogue back when I was 13. Their dark, grit- edged music makes all the more sense now that Chris'gone into the black hole sun.
Was great man.. Great musician with wonderful voice.. Was carismatic and beautyful.. Was rich and famous... and beloved... Why?.... Why?..... R.i.p. chris ....
Watched this video for a few years before Chris passed. Couldn't watch for about two years. After loosing a few close friends since, it's easy to come back to.

"... no one sings like you anymore." They say that most of his performances and songs had some hint of premature and unnatural death: 1- That particular line up there in "Black Hole Sun" 2- He would cover Led Zeppelins "In My Time of Dying" in many performances 3- "Fell On Black Days" line "How would I know that this could be my fate?" (Not to mention that the whole song is pretty much about his lifes tough times). 4- "Like Suicide" (obvious one). 5- "Outshined", referring to quick aging and final outshine. 6- "Burden In My Hand" (dont even know where to start with that, just look up the lyrics) 7- "Say Hello 2 Heaven" (pretty much the whole song screams "Im gonna die") ** these are the ones I can think of. I really love this guy. I think he's one of the best singers of the rock era, but he really seems to have had an obsession and a feeling that he will die a premature death.... and he did. RIP Chris Cornell.
Why, please why. There has to be more to this. I'm sorry if beautiful young Ms. Toni sees this. But something doesn't add up. RIP CHRIS. HOPE YOU ROCKN IT UP IN HEAVEN. SAY HELLO TO HEAVEN 🤘❤️🤘🇦🇺🍻
I think a large part of what makes songs like this great is the fact that they aren't overburdened with meaning. Sometimes a song is just an awesome song. Doesn't have to mean a whole lot. He took his feelings and he translated them into music. Simple as that. Most the time when people argue over what this or that song is really about, it's all speculation. Then, whenever someone asks if a particular story they heard about the song is true, you get people like Kurt Cobain saying "yep that's it, now I remember". Truth be told Kurt didn't put much thought into song meanings. I think most grunge era bands are like that. Which is what makes it stand out. Grunge is basically if "f**k it" was a musical genre. What it lacked in meaning, it made up for with the way it impacted you. When you listen to a song like Black Hole Sun, you get to decide what it means personally to you. It's a gift and you get to do whatever you want with it. To one person it reminds them of a terrible day spent in traffic. To another person it just reminds them how small we really are in the great vast universe. The possibilities are endless.
Sorry if this gets a bit long, it wont be, hopefully. My gf and I were talking the other night, (we both have degrees in psych) but im sorry, suicide is so fascinating to me. Not saying I wish to commit suicide, but however, there are people we idolize, that have it all, or so we think, that do so, and it leaves me perplexed. Look at Chris, we could say hes talented, accomplished, attractive, and wealthy, yet still that shadow followed him. Everywhere he went. Depression looms over us, constantly hoovering, over All of US. Hug your friends. Love them til the end.
RIP Chris. Thank you for the music. You were and will remain one of the greatest vocalists of all time. We love you. No one sings like you anymore.
The original fire is gone but the riot inside moves on...
How can one say 'one of the best' after a song like Jesus Christ Pose? He literally screamed through the entirety of the track!
@@InfernAlien Do you mean that in a positive or negative way?
@@JonathanKippers yeh I’d like to know that too¿✌️

I think I like Chris best stripped down and acoustic....his voice is soooooooo good, and you can really appreciate it.

His Black Hole Sun came... RIP forever to one of the greatest voices of all time.
For everyone talking about the key he is playing in, this version. He is dropped down a full step and his 6th string is double dropped to a C Sharp.
Not quite- he is dropped down a full step, but his 6th string is dropped to a C, not C sharp.
Chirag Krishna I think you can just say drop C
Drop C Sharp, he always did it in Drop D live and in studio is one semitone higher.
+Gary Graham B, it is not Drop C Sharp- this is incorrect. If you'd like, try tuning your guitar to Drop C sharp and playing along with this performance- you'll be off by a half step. The correct tuning is drop C.
