    The sidebearings (all 4) should be adjusted on the blade just before the bottom of the teeth. That way the blade will last much longer because the setting of the teeth won't be affected by the bearings. The blade is going to be much sharper for an longer time this way.
    The bottom of te teeth should be in the middle of the upper wheel aswell for the correct adjustment. That way the weel won't iterfear with the setting of the teeth so again your blade will last longer / stays sharper for a longer time.
    Its just 2 advices for having more fun sawing and using this bandsaw (and all other bandsaws)

The date of production is 4/2021 and user manual¨s content regarding adjustment/tension of saw belt & thrust and guide bearings is satisfactory- Chapter 10 and its sub chapters. Cheers!

    I've always found my bandsaw to be my most indispensable tool. Since its versatility is the greatest strength of the bandsaw, you probably shouldn't limit that by putting a big fat blade which is intended for resawing - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the cutting power of a narrower blade. And you're right, changing blades really holds up production - you'll have to remove your rip fence rail, reset all the guides and tension and maybe even check table squareness - so in my experience, pick a favourite blade and stick with it. And if anyone suggests a foolproof and speedy method for blade and table adjustment... let me know! Good vid mate, I enjoyed that from start to finish. Stay healthy!

      Thanks for your tip, mate! From your videos I gather that you use your bandsaw a lot. So, I value your input a lot. And setting up machines is down there with sanding and sharpening for me... :D What TPI/width do you think would be good for this?
      Cheers, and hope your shoulder heals well.

    Hi. Just unboxed and assembled this saw recently. With no guide I set the bearings so that they touched the blade. Once I started sawing some piece of wood, the machine started rumbling severely. After watching your video I am off to reset those bearings to leave a reasonable space between them and the blade. Thanks a lot bud!! 👍

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  3 года назад +1

      If your machine is shaking I think you have more problems than the bearings being wrongly placed. The tightness of the blade needs to be just so as well. Try "running the saw" with your hand like I did then video and see if it tracks right. Let me know how it went after you adjusted the bearings.

      @@NomadMakes Thanks for your response. Well, I just spent quite some time fiddling about with it. In the end I had to shift the base that holds the bottom 3 bearings right back by about 4 mm. Reason being that the two axial bearings were so much in front and even tilted down that they supported barely the teeth of the blade. Leaving the back half of the blade loose. Now, they are in the middle of the blade and level. I also had to move the holder of the sawing table to the right because the blade wasn't running in the middle of the gap. These proceedings resulted in repeated positioning of the bearings also top ones, also because I watched the slant of the top wheel and of course taunted the blade. All in all the side bearings aren't touching anything now, the back support bearings are - just about, the blade is stretched right I believe and the saw is running like a dream now..

    I've just noticed between 2.10 and 2.40 you can clearly see the base of the bandsaw sitting on your bench, you have a small piece of wood under the rear corner, ?? Is your base plate pissed, bent , not straight (whatever) ive just bought this machine and mine is nowhere near straight/level to my bench, it rocks like mad, I thought it might have been dropped but looking at yours they could just be poorly made, but I've decided I'll bolt it down with some heavy duty bolts probs about 10mm hopefully that will pull it straight just curious what yours is like

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  Год назад +1

      Yeah. I thought mine was dropped as well at some point. Only reason I didn’t return it is because it spent a few months in my basement before I opened it. I have bolted mine to bench.
      This machine is very much on the cheap and cheerful side of the quality spectrum. But I have been able to get quite a lot done on on despite it’s shortcommings.

      Hi,
      Not really. It is vastly underpowered. Really hard to tune. And I suspect the metal plate the upper wheel is fixed to flexes. Also the tightening mechanism for the blade is weak and the tracking changes when you tighten the blade.

      @jrumbel The problem with these small saws is that they are mostly the same rebranded machine. So paying a bit more may not get you any better machine.
      Anyways, this was a cheap way of learning what to look for in my next bandsaw. And as such, it may save me money in the future.

    • @marjoleinrabelink3663
      @marjoleinrabelink3663 Год назад +1

      Its all about where you use it for. These machines are at the bottom of the market and so only to be used for light work.
      Ripping 4 inch beams.....its just to much.
      This machine though has a great qaulity for its price (bought the BAS261 for 275,-- euro today). Brands like Parkside, Holzmann and Scheppach are crap compared with the Metabo 261and costs about the same.
      I geuss you have to sell this one and buy a 13 inch bandsaw. Could be a Metabo 316, record Power 350 Sabre or some other quality product like the Makite LB1200F. Machines that have more power and are to be used for more heavy stuff.
      They will cost something arround 700 euro. These are the ones direct above the 261 categorie. And from there is goes up and up.

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  Год назад

      Yeah. I have been considering a saw in the 13-15 inch range. One is a Sabre and the other is a Jet. Completely different machines. But that is a while in the future. For now this saw actually gets the job done. Believe it or not. I do my rewsawing on the cabinet saw though :-)

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  3 года назад

      The one behind the blade? I believe that called a thrust bearing, and I have seen them placed both ways. On this saw it is placed radially towards the saw blade, and you cannot easily change it. I do not know if either of them has any benefits over the other.

    Did you find any favorite all round blade? Have you come across any similarly sized and priced saw that made you regret this purchase?

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! What I have done is generally used a smaller blade on it. However i keep a ripping blade in backup.
      Nice edit by the way ;-) Your new question is easier to answer. Most of the saws in this price range is for all intents and purposes the same saw. They are all OEM saws with different colors and sometime slight changes. So, I have not come across any saws in this price bracket that have made me regret the purchase. That being said the saw has some severe flaws. The main one being that it is not stiff enough, since the wheels are attached to the steel plate of the back rather than the frame. This makes the saw very hard/impossible to set up correctly. But if this is your first bandsaw, this is a very cheap way of learning about the tool. And it can do basic bandsaw tasks. The main problem is really that you need to spend quite a lot more to get a decent saw.

  • @iustabas
    @iustabas 3 года назад +1

    Do you recommend it to buy? Does it break the saw often?

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  3 года назад

      I cannot say how it holds up in the long run. But it has worked well so far.

      The saw definately has its drawbacks. But it does do the job. After you’ve had this for a while, you are able to consider what your REAL bandsaw needs are. It’s a cheap way to learn. And to be honest, it has done every job I’ve thrown at it.

      Yes, they are. They had both metric and imperial versions on their website.

    Здравствуйте, подскажите почему лента тормозит при нагрузки

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  21 день назад +1

      The google translation is a bit strange. But I think you are asking why the blade slows down under load.
      This is because the motor is very weak. This saw is best suited for lighter work.

      @@NomadMakes спасибо за ответ. Google переводит ужасно. Но вы меня поняли правильно. Пила доску толщиной в дюйм пилит очень плохо. Буду решать эту проблему. 🤝

      May I also suggest you get a ripping blade. Look for a low TPI number. That relieves some of the stress from the motor.

  • @adampoll4977
    @adampoll4977 2 года назад +1

    Okay, taking 4 bolts OFF the table trunnion in order to fix the trunnion with ONE bolt to the saw and then have to jiggle about to get those 4 bolts back in was a bit weird ;)

    Love the styrofoam that comes with these machines... NOT. 😂 But this machine is a beauty.! One tip i have is, check your bandsaw blade for little cracks on the front side between the teeth. The one that came with my machine had many cracks and ripped soon after 😄

    • @NomadMakes
      @NomadMakes  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, that styrofoam is not pleasant to get rid of either. Thanks for the tip regarding the blade. I plan to get a general purpose blade as soon as I figure out the TPI and width I want. So the factory blade is not staying on for long. Cheers, and thank for watching and commenting.

    Do not buy the nuendo earplugs! I'm a musician and have owned 2 pairs. The first pair fell apart in the plastic after using them about 5 times. I got a pair of new ones that was supposed to be upgraded, but the same thing happened to them. The idea is great but they are crap quality i'm afraid (and expensive). But I liked this video for the Metabo :) Thanks.
