I think your balanced attitude to sharing your baby's life online is spot on...you and your family have their privacy and yet you can share moments now and again with us...my son is now seventeen and a half but watching your vids brings back to me those first days...I called him fruit and veg names (lol) as he grew within me - petit pois, little plum, peachy and so forth...have a wonderful pregnancy and thanks for sharing xx

Gracious- so many people commenting on what you "can and can not" eat. Umm what about "back in the day" when they didn't have these guidelines, and those woman and children survived!

jem miller and speaking of Tiffany D I do think that they may have had her due date wrong (she went over but I THINK she said they thought it was 'wrong') so that could be why she may seem "more advanced" in her stages of pregnancy than yours.

jem miller We now have a lot of mercury in fish, contamination from Fukushima, increased pesticides in our foods, and gmo foods. These are just a few.

I didn't feel any flutters with my first baby until 19 weeks and definitely didn't start showing until about 25 weeks. I hope you can relax and take time to enjoy your pregnancy because after you have kids it feels like life just speeds by. I have been really loving your pregnancy vlogs and I am beyond happy for you. You guys are going to be incredible parents!

Getting anxious is totally understandable, especially when you've been waiting for this for SO LONG. I think I would be the same way. We've been trying and hoping and praying for so long and are still waiting. I love seeing the joy in your heart beaming out into your videos. My heart just smiles for you and your family. Congrats again. Keep those baby (and all other) videos coming. We all love them!

I completely understand the anxiety. I watched TiffanyD's pregnancy blogs and was a week behind her. I didn't really pop until 21 weeks and I was freaking out from watching her progress. My little one was and is just perfect. Plus, Tiffany's little baby was pretty big when she was born too, which makes a difference. Love these updates, so excited for you!

Welcome to Motherhood, Jen! 😊 A lot of what you are feeling is just a natural anxiety built-in for our children. It happens at conception bc life happens at conception. You are already your little girls mommy and your worry is perfectly normal. Also, it's completely understandable that you'd be a bit on edge considering the journey and length of time it's taken for you to get to this point. But it's ok. You're very right in saying that each pregnancy is so different. Not only between different mothers but even different children w the same mother. All three of my pregnancies were completely different. The books you read are "guidelines" but try not to take too too much to heart. Enjoy every moment and try not to allow your concerns steal any of your joy. 😊 You're doing awesome, girl! And we all have your back! XO

Can you include this in the next question section of your pregnancy update?
    1. What books/websites have you used to get informed pre pregnancy?
    2. What did you do to get your body prepared, ready and healthy for the baby?

I understand about worrying if everything is going well with the baby. I'm 38 weeks and I still have irrational moments when I wake up in the middle of the night and get scared because the baby isn't moving. Usually within 10 minutes of my initial panic I'll feel something and breathe a sigh of relief. Before I was able to feel our little one's kicks I was always a little on edge if everything was OK. It's totally normal and the fact that you worry means you're already a good mom. Just try not to worry too much. Stress isn't good baby either.

If hearing the babies heart beat keeps you calm and helps your anxiety it doesn't matter what it costs. Your baby girl is already so blessed having Don and yourself as parents. With the issues you had in the first trimester it's only understandable that you have anxieties. God Bless you both and extra blessing on your little bump which is so adorable.

Jen! I love your vlogs no matter how long they may be! I wanted to reassure you that with both of my pregnancies (I have a three year old and I'm 35 weeks currently) I did not feel any flutters with either of them until 22-23 weeks. My doctor told me that was completely normal. They also said that I have an anterior placenta which means it's in front of the baby and that could make it harder for me to feel sooner. :) I am an anxiety ridden person and I know you can relate. No matter how many times someone tells you not to worry or even if you know deep down everything is ok, it's still hard to not worry. I'm right there with you. Also, I had headaches during my second tri with both pregnancies. You have so much extra blood flowing through your body and your hormones are crazy. Also your vision can somewhat change during pregnancy as well. It's smart to talk to your doc but just know it's totally normal. I even had a few bad migraines with mine but also, normal. Especially if your blood pressure isn't elevated. I'm so so happy for you and I love following someone else on this journey. Love to you and your family :)

The same thing happened with me when I was watching Tiffany's vlogs. Her bump popped out so early! I didn't have much of a bump until I was over 19 weeks, and I didn't feel the baby move until after 20 weeks (and I think it was another 5 weeks after that until my husband could feel him move). Baby made up for the lack of movement early on by kicking me in the ribs 24/7 for the last two months. Thanks for sharing Jen, these pregnancy videos are really fun to watch!

I can completely relate, I was anxious every single day up until the day I delivered my son. It never really goes away after having trouble TTC, but those little things like hearing the heartbeat and elective ultra sounds are completely worth it for some peace of mind. So happy for you Jen :)

I love and respect your views on keeping a lot of your daughter's life private. I wanted to share that I used to have the same anxiety. I used to drink orange juice and prod my stomach until I felt something! The nurses even unplugged the monitors from me when I was about to deliver! Everything turned out perfect. Sending hugs when anxiety consumes you... Hopefully you will be able to relax and enjoy.xo

I'm in my 28th week now and I can tell you that those little kicks and punches have been the best thing in my pregnancy so far. I felt first movements about 18th -19th week (I might have felt something before but just skipped it), my husband felt his first kick on father's day (June 23rd in my country, so about week 23rd). They were pretty irregular at the beginning, now I feel them every 3-4 hours, more often when I'm resting, when I'm moving a lot the baby is sleeping. They have become pretty strong lately, the whole belly is moving. The only thing that is bothering me is gestational diabetes which has started around week 25th. It's pretty difficult to keep the glucose on the right level, even though I measure it about 10 times a day and really watch the cards intake. Hopefully everything will be ok. I wish you all the best in your journey and look forward to the end of October to see and hug my little baby boy.

I can completely relate to the anxiety!! You are not alone !! I had a complicated pregnancy and eventually an early deliver due to preeclampsia and baby distress. I had that underlying. Anxiety my entire pregnancy I could never shake It until she was here. Its a perfectly normal first time mom first pregnancy thing. I know telling you not to worry is useless because it's almost impossible not to worry but everything will be just fine !!!! I found your channel a few months ago and have come to really love watching you and seeing your happiness during this time is beautiful. My advice is relax, enjoy it and try your best not to worry have fun!!

Jen: I have to say I know exactly what you mean about the insecurity at this stage coming back. When I was pregnant with my first, my morning sickness faded around 10 weeks. Then from there I hardly had a bump, I had no real "pregnancy symptoms" I wasn't feeling the baby. I hadn't had an ultrasound and I started to have thoughts like, "is this real? Am I really pregnant? Why do I feel so disconnected?" What helped me was to go have an elective ultrasound at 15 weeks. I went and had a gender scan and that held me over until my 20 week anatomy scan. And by then I was feeling flutters and my bump appeared. So I want to reassure you that you're not alone in those feelings and also encourage you to maybe go have an elective (I got my drs permission first) and/or to buy a Doppler. Good luck and take care!

I don't like hearing you think your worries may be anything but normal. Just try to enjoy every minute of it!

Oh Jen, i know your anxiety about the baby all to well. Our first trimesters are very similar. I was having ultrasounds weekly since week 5 then non after week 13. It was killing me. I didn't look pregnant, I didn't feel pregnant and couldn't feel the baby yet until about 18 weeks. I was a nervous wreak. I actually didn't feel any flutters at all. At 18 almost 19 weeks i felt this little kick. It was awesome. Just take deep breathes, it will all happen so fast. Soon you will be up all night uncomfortable with a squirming baby rolling around.
I again am just so excited for you and Don. Having gone through infertility and finally getting my crazy little man I know your excitement and fears all to well.

Congrats again to you and Don -- so happy you're time has arrived!

I was close to 6 1/2 months before I felt my first baby move and I didn't get a noticeable bump until 7 months. By my third pregnancy, I was showing and feeling him at 10 weeks. There was much more anxiety for my third because I was in my late thirties and was freaking out about birth defects constantly. I let that anxiety steal my joy. Finally, I had an amniocentesis and rented a Doppler. It was the best thing I could have done for ME and my husband. It might not be right for you, but it did give me a tremendous piece of mind and put my crazy brain at bay so I could relax and enjoy my experience. What you're feeling is normal and whatever you need to do to relax, do it!!! I can't wait to hear what y'all are going to name that sweet angel.

Please don't apologize for your videos being too long. I love every second of them. I could sit & listen to them all day long. And I'm sure you want this all recorded for your precious little one. You are amazing & you & Don will be the absolute BEST parents ever!!! As much as I would love to see her a lot I totally understand your reasoning behind why you won't be. I don't blame you one bit. You would think I'm the aunt or grandma. I am just sooooo genuinely happy for you!!! I am praying for a wonderful pregnancy for you. I understand your worries and concerns. It took you awhile to get where you're at .........& you don't want nothing to go wrong. I am praying nothing but health, happiness, joy, & love to go along with this pregnancy. Thanks so much for sharing all that you do. I enjoy watching these so much! A few questions: Will the baby be named after a family member or friend? Have you decided on nursery colors? Have you decided on a theme for the nursery? Ex: animals, bows, teddy bears, etc......Hoping you have an amazing week!!! xxoo 💗💞💕💗

I love that you are going to be very protective of your daughter when it comes to sharing on line etc. The more the better and I applause your decision. Also, having been an overly anxious pregnant woman, just wanted you to know there are devices for expecting couples to listen to the heartbeat at home. I was so neurotic, that at five months, I bent down to pickup something and after feeling a little twinge, I was sure I had somehow broken the baby!! I made my obgyn do an ultrasound! Pregnancy hormones make us feel different extremes.
Your bump does look a littke bigger. Some women's bumps just grow out while others tend to fill the sides before they bump out. You look gorgeous and I hope you enjoy every moment.

Love your update! I would have loved the recording of the baby's heartbeat in a stuffed animal! I recorded it on my phone and would listen to it often while I was pregnant. I think your daughter will enjoy it later too! The changes that occur in just a matter of weeks are so amazing! I know it is hard to wait but you will be feeling her wiggle and kick soon! I think I was around 17-18 weeks, but it wasn't consistent for a while after that. It is unlike anything else, you will love it! I'm glad you shared how to pronounce Aden + Anais- I don't know why I never thought to look it up, haha! Your bump looks adorable in your blog post pictures...you will find that some weeks it seems nothing changes and other weeks it will pop out of nowhere! Looking forward to Utah vlogs and seeing her nurseries come together!

With my first baby I felt first flutterings at around 20 weeks. They are very faint at the beginning. I do not think my bump really showed until 22/24 weeks. I am now 27 weeks pregnant with second baby. I felt movement at around 18 weeks and had a little bump from around 20 weeks. Ideally you want the bump to grow very gradually and weight gain of 1lb per week is perfect. I have gained 15lb now at 27 weeks. Initially for me any movements were very light and fluttery and not very frequent. In time they will get stronger and more frequent but this happens gradually. For me anyway it feels like there is always something to worry about. I do not think the worry ever ends from the moment you get that positive test result. That is part of being a parent, but the baby also brings so much joy. When my son smiles up at me and says mama it is the best feeling in the world x

Jen, I meant to write this in your past vlog on your pregnancy diet. I also ate on a pretty regular schedule (every three hours) when I was pregnant and I don't know if this is why my baby was/is this way but ye was such a "schedule" baby. He would want to eat every three hours. My mom in law use to call him the little alarm clock. I think its good that you are eating like that because if it does influence your baby's. Eating habit's that can be very helpful for a mama because you can kinda know when to expect your baby's needs. He has also been the same way for sleeping. His sleepy and awake times are like clock work. Good luck! You'll do great!

Congratulations; wonderful news! I've been subscriber of yours for a bit but have only watched a handful of videos thus far. And they've been all over the place; some from last year, last week or three months ago. Therefore I'm certain I don't know you as well as most of your subscribers.
This video touch me because I too worried and felt anxious a number of times. I can't wait for you to feel that flutter; its the most amazing feeling you will ever have, I promise you! I have three children (all adults now) and I tell you; I STILL miss that feeling. Enjoy every last flutter and kick because it will all go by too quickly! You're in my prayers and from what I have seen, I think you will be a great mom!

There seriously needs to be a LOVE button to click on!!! SO incredibly happy for you & Don! Have you thought about getting a (not sure what to call it) machine that allows you to hear the heartbeat at home, anytime? That might comfort you even more on a daily basis! Cullen & Katie here on YT, used one (and showed it in their vlogs) and it seemed to reassure them throughout their pregnancy. And don't stop including the cute easel.... just stand it up on the bed behind you or on the nightstand!!

Did you know that on Amazon they have all sorts of at home "fetal heart monitors" (dopplers). My daughter bought one and it really relieved a lot of her anxiety. She could listen to her baby any time of day or night.

Don't worry about feeling the flutters too much; I felt them late also - 22 to 23 weeks or so. It's very dependent on your placental placement. I had an anterior placenta and even at the end of my pregnancy, sometimes my son would go completely "quiet" for a day or two depending on how he had turned. It made me so anxious that my midwife suggested I do weekly non-stress tests to ease my mind, and he was always doing swimmingly upon testing. :) I now have a very active and healthy 14 month old. So over the moon for you and Don. You'll make such doting lovely parents.

I'm almost 21 weeks and about the same time you are I got really anxious as well. Time just seems to stand still. I felt his flutters not too long after 16 weeks so keep your head up! It also took me forever to get my bump! You should get one of those hand held dopplers. It had saved me so much peace of mind! ♥

Most people don't start feeling the baby move until around 18-20 weeks. also, being as this is your first, it takes a while to show. I was so anxious to wear maternity but couldn't even begin to even fit into pregnant clothes until after 20 weeks. Don't worry, you'll grow soon enough !!

  • @jdm5656
    @jdm5656 9 лет назад

Glad you're feeling well Jen! Don't worry about justifying the anxiety. Any first time mom remembers exactly what it feels like to be where you are and trust me once you start feeling those regular kicks you'll feel a lot better. With my first I felt the first flutters around 18 weeks so you've got some time yet. And if your placenta is in the front it may take a little longer because of that buffer. She's growing and swimming and she will be just perfect when she comes into the world! You're doing everything just fine.

I had horrible migraines every week throughout my entire 2 trimester during both of my pregnancies. When I got into my 3rd, they subsided. Also, I was having major anxiety during both my pregnancies. I was constantly worried about the development of my babies. Also, i was getting anxiety about my husband and what would happen if I lost him and the fear of raising a child on my own. Crazy and irrational, I know, but pregnancy hormones do crazy stuff to you. I'm really enjoying all of your pregnancy videos. My youngest in 15 months so its till pretty fresh in my mind. I can totally relate to what you are going through. God bless you!

I didn't feel the 'flutters' or much of anything until 25 weeks but as soon as I passed that period, my baby went to full force punching and kicking! I am now 32+4 days and my baby literally NEVER stops moving! It will all come when it's ready. Apparently it means that my abs stayed in tact a bit longer, and also, because this is my first baby, I wasn't sure what I was looking out for.

You might want to consider asking your doctor about the placement of your placenta. That has a huge influence on when you will be able to feel the baby. The placenta might act like a cushion and make it harder to feel anything.

Is there any chance that you will be doing a month of vlogging while you are pregnant? it would be so nice to see and experience what you go through on a day to day basis. I have another question. This may be too early, but are you planning on wanting to do cloth diapers or disposable diapers? The honest company has a cool bundle that you can do with diapers, wipes and all that good stuff. I have some friends that use them and love it.

If you were not anxious especially with the first baby I would be surprised. And I remember with my Daughter being worried why I was not showing much for quite awhile. She was my second child. It seemed I put more weight on my whole body with her. So the "Bump" did not seem to show so much. My Son..my first child...oh my word. He was not just a bump he was the "Great Pumpkin" in no time! lol And I do agree with you about showing your Baby on the internet. I would do just as you are. As much as I would love to see lots of her I certainly do not blame you. We have to protect our kids. The unicorn idea is so great!!! I wish they would have had that back in the day. To have just any way to be in touch with your baby has to be a great thing. Big hugs. Looking forward the your next update!! :D

You probably are getting flutters of movement, but being your first pregnancy, you don't recognize because you don't know what to expect. I didn't feel my first child move until 4 1/2 months, my 2nd I felt at 3 months. Don't get stressed over "bump" growth. Each pregnancy is so different. With my daughter I was huge, with my son, I could have worn regular clothes.

So excited for you and Don. I also struggle with anxiety and felt it heavily throughout my pregnancies. Try to remember that each day is special and it will go by soo quickly, when the pregnancy is over you will most likely miss it! Use this time to pamper yourself and spend quality time with Don. After baby is born, you will enter a new stage of life and this stage will be a memory, try to make those memories the best they can be. Treat your anxiety like a hater and tell it where to go! Haha

I remember having quite the bump before feeling flutter, so probably around 24-25 weeks? If your worry affects your life, please buy a doppler. But of course, always using it may affect your life, too.. Anyway, your little pea is doing what she can to be born. Doppler or no doppler. Best wishes, your mama's heart is growing quickly, I believe 😘

jen i was looking at your ultrasound pics. i agree with an ultrasound tech, you seem to have an anterior placenta which means, the placenta is attached to the front side of the uterus which can make it harder to feel kicks or flutters in the beginning because it acts as a barrier or a cushion. i work in Radiology and from the pics i can see, it is completely normal to have anterior placenta attachment.oh and placenta moves up as uterus expands.
