You know, they say, “All men are created equal,” but you at look at Arnold and you look at Ol’ Sammy boy, and you can see that statement is not true! See, normally when you introduce a new Terminator, theres a 50/50 chance it could be better than the predecessor. But Arnold is a genetic freak, and not normal!
So Sammy had a 25% chance, at best, at surpassing Arnold. And then you add critics into the mix? The chances of being a better Terminator than Arnold drastically go down. Mathematically, when you take all 3 into account, Sammy has a 33 1/3 chance of being a better Terminator. But Arnold has a 66 2/3 chance of of being better cause Arnold is a genetic freak, and critics opinions won’t matter!
Sam is a somewhat wooden actor and he doesn't have the charisma Arnold does. Almost no one has Arnold's charisma, though.

This version is complete garbage. Nothing beats the original.
The original one is better by far!
It is but look at the state of remakes over the last 20 years in general, nearly all terrible. This was definitely one of the better efforts (and it's sequel).

This film seems like one of them waste of potential type movies, where every scenes ruins itself by spoiling what could've been a good moment with some unnecessary, over the top bullshit. The fight with Calibos would've looked so much better without the over the top acrobatics, Hollywood choreographers have no understanding of fighting actually works, the worst thing u do in a fight is be leaping off the ground, doing risky skit like back flips and jumping kicks, u wanna stay grounded with good balance but light on ur toes for better maneuverability. The way Perceus punched Calibos looked awful, I can tell u now pulling back ur hand like that does not add power to ur punch, it only gives it more distance to travel making it take longer to reach the target which would actually give Calibos ample time to get out of the way and counter. The punch looked so gentle, but they played it off like it really got to Calibos. Also the way that lady died was just silly, completely unneeded, I get that she's some kind of mythical being but that don't mean she needs to have some goofy ass death that completely destroys the emotional weight they were building up before she died. This film did have some good things going for it, I think it had good music, an interesting aesthetic and decent casting choices but the over the top goofiness of it really spoils it. I loved this film as a kid and it's definitely nostalgic seeing it again, I remember thinking Calibos was such a cool looking villain with how grotesque he is but yeah watching this as an adult, it's just goofy as fuck.

what's sad is this movie could have been AWESOME if it actually respected the source material instead of warping the plot to tear the old myths apart. I mean..harryhausen deserves ALL respect, but could you imagine the original movie if it had been made with today's (quality, not cheap/rushed) effects? Yow. Instead, they pissed all over the original movie AND the myths, and alienated thier audience. the seeds the woke planted before they reached full bloom, i suppose.

@@danc3933 not all, but most. a lot of it I think has to do with the illusion that CG is EASY compared to practical effects. hire a couple of pixel pushers and ANY idiot can do effects that would have cost a fortune in the old days..so long as you don't pay too much attention to quality. Look at it this way...when John Carpenter made The Thing, it was the apex of practical effects. but during the same time frame, there were plenty of shlock filmmakers who would just stick a guy in a rubber suit and call it good.. CG is indeed cheap and easy comapred to practicla..so long as you're willing to settle for cheap and easy. Want another comparison? comapre the sheer artistry of classic disney cel animation to what they churn out now. and even then, there are indie studios that put out craptastic animated films that Pixar artists would'nt wipe thier arses with, let alone use in a profesisonal demo reel. It is STILL possible to make a good film, but you have to be out to make a GOOD film..not just a cheap and theoretically marketable one.
