Lake Namekagon is located in Bayfield county of northern Wisconsin. Its a large lake at 3,227 acres. Max depth is 51 feet. It contains all the usual suspects - walleye, muskie, bass, northern pike, and panfish. Muskie are stocked here, but the walleye are wholly dependent on natural reproduction. Its a beautiful lake, but if you are here on a nice summer weekend, you will be sharing this lake with many others.

Live bait works much better on here try Minnows in spring and leeches in summer. Walleyes just before dark and drop offs and up into weed beds, rock piles earlier in the day. even posting up and floating a big Minnow for Northerns. small minnows for crappies. I have never had good luck with fake bait casting here.

Thanks for that great info. That's probably our whole problem. You just got to know how to fish this lake. It usually pays off to talk to the locals. I appreciate it!

It is funny how they have it spelled Namekagon when it is actual Namakagon. At 6:27 went past our
A-frame and then at 6:39 my house on the left by the bay. when you stopped there is a good Rock pile behind you. If you are up again let me know I have fish here 45+ years have lived here full time 15 years. Not s crankbait fisherman, Live bait for me but i could tell you some places I have got fish over the years. I have a lot of fishing videos on Lake Namakagon if you need Ideas where to try in the future also. Fishing has gotten worse over the years on the lake, but there is still a chance for some good fun.

You have me curious about the name of this lake. Every publication on this lake spell it "Namekagon." I'm very careful at trying to get the name of the lake correct. You can actually see the name in the guide book at 3:32. If it is actually "Namakagon," I would love to know where can find this info. Thanks!

@@GoMidwestFishing All the Signs that say welcome to Lake Namakagon are spell with the A only a few signs by the River that are spelled with the E. I alway wondered this also. Signs and thous of us that live here Namakagon Guide books Namekagon if you Google mapquest Lake Namakagon You will see maps spelled both ways. for 48 years it has been with A for me ;-)

@@NorthernANTs It sounds to me like it was originally with an "A", but somehow got changed to an "E" and now all the maps spell it that way.

    • @NorthernANTs

I looked at Wikipedia for Lake Namakagon and it has a spelling page explaining the difference between. And found on Google maps it has both spellings on the map. When Lake comes first spelled with an A and when Lake is last spelled with a E. This is interesting I never thought much about it, because living here all the signs, and any mail I get is Lake Namakagon. Funny sounds like we have two lakes in one, one for us that live here and one for visitors LoL

Is Reggie’s nationality Polish? He definitely looks Polski at the end with that ten-footer in his hands going across the lake. Those are really tough days to make a video out of. I usually end up dumping them, but you’ve definitely made something out of nothing there. Good work!

    • @GoMidwestFishing

Well, if he isn't Polish, he is now! The funny thing is, I've been asked how I get the drone to fly alongside me like that. I guess only the filmmakers understand why Reggie said he was going to look like an idiot with a pole above his head.
