We already had months of nuclear threats directed at all the governments of Europe, which eventually caused the Germans not to ratify the Nord Stream 2 contract at the very last minute. Two days after that happened Russia invaded Ukraine despite denouncing that they would do such a thing two days earlier. The West was insane and they would never do such a thing. They lied. They invaded Ukraine because of the resources in the ground and to prevent Europe from developing them.

The whole Europe and US looked to Romania, wondering what's going on. Many countries in Europe took our exemple and in the next weeks, they went out and protested against coruption in their own cities.

I always admire romanians. They also kicked the ass of the Ceaușescu by a revolt and stopped the tyranny. Russians did something similar too, a long time ago they did to the Csar Nikolai because he did not care about the citizens at all. But nowadays it is too hard, because the governments use media and fear.

Russia is a nuclear power and would not hesitate to use nuclear weapons if they feel threatened. The U.S. tried sanctions but Russia is a big country due to its past aggression and so they have plenty of resources to overcome any sanctions. I am writing to you from Romania, a country that has been attacked 12 times throughout history by Russia/USSR, so I am a resident of a country concerned about Russian invasions, something to be taken very seriously by any country that was once under Russia's sphere of influence. I recently watched a video about what the Russians know about Romania and the first thing was about how we invaded Russia together with the Germans, but no one knew about the territories annexed by their old rulers (Bucovina, Republic of Moldova). As Romanians, I don't claim not to recover the territories because that means conflicts, war and we don't want that, but this hypocrisy of the Russians seems incredible to me. I don't think there is a more hypocritical state/people than Russia. The West tried to keep Russia close by doing business, but all this time, Russia armed itself with the money coming from us to attack and annex its neighbors. Europe did not invest in armaments, but in raising the standard of living. That's the difference in mentality between a frustrated people like Russia and some neighbors who think that things should be good, that there should be peace and that we should not help each other. This is what the European Union means, but you don't want something like that. Germany, which was once an extraordinary military power, no longer wanted a strong army so that their neighbors would understand that they no longer have and will never have imperialist thoughts. NATO is for the protection of weak states, not for attacking Russia. When you stop attacking countries like Georgia, Moldova, then surely others will not want to belong to NATO. Become a democratic state, let people protest, demand their rights and see how the perspective of the West changes towards you. Glory to the Ukrainians 🇺🇦

What primes today in a modern/civilised world, is people's right to self determination, and right to ally with who they want.

Russia's imperialists wars are from another time, times when no laws used to prevail except the barbaric law of force.
It will meet strong resistance because europeans are fighting for values, not a bunch of land to grab.
Russia is a small population (140 millions) in a giant country. Deal with your own land, take care of your environment that you have destroyed under soviet times (Aral Sea for example) take care of your rural people who have no roads, no running water and not enough to survive.
That would just mean mutually assured destruction and therefore this question is a no-brainer.

Russians think they are not at war with Ukraine but with nato, America and the whole west. Generations of people have been told that Nato is the most evil villain in the whole world. They are afraid of nato. And they really don't want to lose this war. They think that if they lose, Russia is finished. On TV, nuclear war is often portrayed as "they will die and we will go to paradise". I'm not kidding, that's what Putin said. Or, one journalist said that "we will turn them into nuclear ashes". There was a lot of that. Not so much now. I'm not sure Russia would dare to do that either. I think they're more intimidating the west with it. But still, I know pretty well what kind of crimes these people are capable of, and they are sick.
