I've gotten stung before, it wasn't really a 'tingling ' as said in the video. I thought for a few seconds that there was a swarm of tiny sea creatures biting me. Don't put cold stuff onto a sting, it makes the pain way worse, having a hot vinegar towel to wrap around the sting area is the best thing ever. Bleach will make the stingers burrow farther in. Don't rub/scratch the sting area, it will cause it to become inflamed. And there will be a time where the sting itches like crazy.
I was just stung for the first time a few days ago when I went to Alabama's coast. It was probably a sea nettle by the looks. For those asking what it is like, it itches, hurts, and well stings. You also get a red rash.
Once, we (me and my family) were at a beach, and a sign said that the area had jellyfish, but a lifeguard nearby said it wasn't the season for them. I was overly cautious, and didn't go in, but everyone else did. When they came out, they were all covered in jellyfish stings. I was like "I told you so!"
How it feels to be stung Imagine 2,000 wasps stinging you over again on the same are while injecting hot water and hand sanitizer with lemon juice. Yah it's that bad
Honestly depends on how big the sting is. I got stung in Capri jumping into the water not seeing there was a bunch of softball sized pink jellies in there. Felt a sharp burn in the crook of my arm, and knew I needed to get out, and after, my arm was covered in hives...was not fun. The sting was more like a burn, and hurt so so bad. Be biggest spot is about the size of a golf ball, surrounded by little dits and lines of other stings. I think I swam into one or something and it got wrapped around my arm. Do not recommend this experience lol
@@mars3168Were you able to get it off your arm? When I got stung my bf's mom had to get it off me because I honestly couldn't move, and I was in shallow water where they're not supposed to be.
@trisha7976 Haha yeah, I pulled them all out, but I definitely don't blame you!! I was also in the shallows, but jellyfish are pretty rampant here sometimes.
I was swimming on a beach in Florida when a huge group of juvenile lions mane jellies were passing through. They were everywhere once you got just a dozen feet from the shore. They were there in huge numbers for a week, passing through. The bigger ones farther from shore. The juvenile lions mane don't have their nomatocytes until they reach a certain size, so I'd spend an hour wading along the shore while thousands of tiny jellies passed by me, brushing up against my legs. Terrifying and mesmerizing.
Over the summer at gulf shores, half my family got stung and signs of dangerous marine life were only put up the day we left XD I saved 2 and it would have been three but a random lady asked for my net so i gave it to her but she just took it and dumped the jelly in the sand. After that obviously people all started noticing the large amount and the next day we found about 3 holes literally full of jellyfish who were captured and left to die. i could understand if they were really bad jellyfish but the jelly there were harmless and stung for about 10 minutes at most.
3:56 This guy has a snorkel and doesnt even go underwater. And the only time he goes, he takes a deep breath when he could be breathing with the snorkel Ok
Ive been stung by one. Its a burning sensation that builds up. I caught one and while putting it in a bucket, a couple hairlike tentickles stuck to my hand.
I was snorkeling off the coast of Ni’ihau in Hawaii. Suddenly I felt a slight tingling sensation on my right hand, typically where I would balance a pencil. I surfaced and took a closer look. Little bumps formed a circle about the size of a penny or nickel. I realized that I’d been stung by a baby jellyfish! Most likely a baby because there weren’t any visible adults in the water. I did remain in the water for a bit longer after I noticed, because I’d watched this video prior!
The baby jellyfishes are a nightmare, one time my siblings and I went swimming in the sea during vacation, we ended up with many baby jellyfish stings while swimming.
S.A alkhater It's way more common than what you think, I ate a jellyfish long before I even knew what a jellyfish was. (And I lived in the mountains when I ate the jellyfish... (Imported goods))
Agnes Powell i was meet much jellyfish in all sea italians and also all sea europe and north africa in some time ago, as we know 20 species of jellyfish in Mediterranean Sea. i do not joke this jellyfish. types of jellyfish are beautiful and different colors. jellyfish are not dangerous but who touches jellyfish will be very painful.
"Cnidaria" and "cnidocyte(s)" are maybe the only English words I know that start with a silent "C", and I love them for that, because they sound much cooler that way.
Watching this because my friend got bit by a jellyfish 3 hours ago. Fortunately it wasn't poisonous but the pain was unbearable. He's alright now and sleeping.

Then why watch, traumatizing yourself and poisoning yourself against something so beautiful... you should instead watch something about the beauty and importance of the ocean and everything in it...☺️🤍🌊🐠🐟 It's okay to educate yourself on the dangers of the ocean but it shouldn't be from a place of fear and instead a place of precaution🌞!!
I got stung once I've also carried jellies back to the ocean. The sting wasn't as bad as people would expect. It was like a pimple honestly, and all that happened was cold chills and a small bit of swelling
I was stung at Corpus Christi beach I belive, not a jellyfish in sight, and I go to the 3rd sandbar to look for some sand dollars, I feel some tingling, then a sharp pain wrapping around me, I used my good hand a grabbed the tenticles (bad idea) and kicked the rest off, I was hurting for almost a week... Yeah, life lesson, don't go to the third sandbar without a boat
Worse fact: An Irukandji, which is a Box Jellyfish specie, is 1 cm, and when stung, will make you feel immense pain, and in some cases, people have asked doctors to kill them because of the pain.
The cool thing about those jelly stingers is; much like mosquito probosci, they looks extremely jagged and rough up close, but actually cut through skin very easily and painlessly. Scientists have been studying mosquito proboscis to make better and less painful needles, but mosquitoes don't actually *poke* you... they uhhm... _saw_ and _slowly hack_ their way into your flesh. Yeah. That's right. Instead of a nice smooth needle, they use a saw and hack their way through your skin and it actually hurts less! You don't actually feel the mosquito "bite", you in fact feel the enzyme they inject into you to thin your blood so it flows easier into their gutsss....! Haha Critters be crazy!
I grew up surfing in Southern California and I never experienced a jellyfish sting, never knew anyone that did, nor did I ever see one. I recently went to Galveston and my whole family got stung within one hour, and I saw multiple people catching jellyfish. Do these things not live on the west coast?
Bro me and my family just also got stung by one of these buggers in galveston! I got the worst of it though. My whole arm has hives and burn like a mf.
Has just met a jellyfish in the morning when I was out the ocean for snorkeling. Beautiful and cute, the jellyfish is big as a palm size. Kinda crystal and moving slowly.
I watched this when i was 8 And when i was in 3rd grade I remember our teacher told us to draw and write about something scientific and so i did of how jellyfish can sting, my teacher was very proud and told me that that was a brilliant idea x3i felt so happy and proud..-sniffs- child memories..
the initial pain lasts up to 2 days and then you get this uncontrollable itchy rash that can last up to weeks. I got stung a week ago and the affected area is still very swollen and painful.
This is the reason why today I no longer allow myself & my family to swim in the beach, other than the salt, it's the jellyfish population have gone out of control and may sting you at any time. Best just stick to the swimming pools.
I know from angel yanagihara that most treatments think of when stung by jellyfish do not work only vinegar or heat packs work. I also reccomend going to the lifeguard stations too.

If you would call it a box jelly, that is.
Hehe
"I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine" 😂
Yes exacwy 🥺
That sea slug looks so adorable!
The internet needs more jellyfish content
I watched this when i was 8
And when i was in 3rd grade I remember our teacher told us to draw and write about something scientific and so i did of how jellyfish can sting, my teacher was very proud and told me that that was a brilliant idea x3i felt so happy and proud..-sniffs- child memories..
My sister go stung by one. And the tentacle got stck to her leg and wrapped around it.
Like if you said ouch.
I didn’t say ouch but I thought it
Mmm

0:10 When the ting[...] GOES SKRAA
No NBC but
I'm putting a play list of these videos together for my kids to watch.
Yeah I freaking love these
I always wondered why I felt like I was kept on being stung after I got stung by a jellyfish.
That giant jellyfish isn't real, right? please? :c
Its not giant. She's talking about the length. :)
BadFriendship it is
BadFriendship They exist. The largest one I have ever seen was about a meter in diameter.
BadFriendship You should be more afraid of the gigantic squids lurking in the darkest depths of the ocean... They're much, much bigger... >:P
BadFriendship Its not that big(animator overdrew it), but it can be 100meter long.
0:06 "you're swimming in the ocean...." Um, sorry Ted-Ed, but no, thanks! I never swim in the ocean
???
@@Jodiescox ????
How can you possibly have fun with a jellyfish!?
OMG THE ANIMATION SO CUTE
the initial pain lasts up to 2 days and then you get this uncontrollable itchy rash that can last up to weeks. I got stung a week ago and the affected area is still very swollen and painful.
Was ala scar left or did it heal nicely?
If the lions mane jellyfish is longer than a blue whale...why isn't it classified as the largest animal? Do the tentacles not count?
Protag Shilex that would be longest, not largest
but isn't the blue whales length apart of why its so large? are length and size not the same?
Jelly’s don’t count I think
You're not very smart are you? Size is its volume. Not its height, length or width individually. The tentacles may be long but they are very thin.
That's why I always feel pain in my thighs when I always go to beach...The tiny little jelly fish sting me....It's not so bad though...
Beware from the big one
This reminded me the time when monica was stung by a jellyfish😃
This is the reason why today I no longer allow myself & my family to swim in the beach, other than the salt, it's the jellyfish population have gone out of control and may sting you at any time. Best just stick to the swimming pools.
I like that sea slug animation 3:27
When I went to a beach I got stung then my mom said "On sweety it won't happen again" .the exact same day I got stung by the jellyfish themselves
And I thought wasps are on land

"You've been stung by a jellyfish!"
*in a really happy tone*
3:29 why is that animation so satisfying to me?
I know from angel yanagihara that most treatments think of when stung by jellyfish do not work only vinegar or heat packs work.
I also reccomend going to the lifeguard stations too.
Actually, vinegar deactivates all stinging cells that have not been discharged yet.
