Anytime we get dialogue in a cinematic it jumps to the top level for me. This did not disappoint so I need riot to actually follow up on this and not leave it hanging
If I had a nickel for every time Darius lost his axe in a cinematic and proceeded to throw hands with an unreasonably large creature id have two nickles; which isn't much but its weird that it's happened twice.
this cinimatic felt so much like a teaser for the noxus movie while also opening the season. im interested to see if this is what they want the cinematics to be in the future
The runic language is Ochnun, the language of the death realm/spoken by Mordekaiser, and the etymological root of Noxian. It seems like this is some kind of scrying chamber that Leblanc uses to check up on different parts of the world. There's a rune that matches each of the storylines, there's a blocky rune that becomes Darius' silhouette, a wolf-headed rune with Mel's Piltover house symbol on its forehead, a spider rune for Elise, and at the very end - the dagger with the eye. My interpretation of the dagger is that it's Naafiri, and that the Black Rose is trying to acquire Naafiri's dagger to use her as a weapon. Since the Darkin are created by blood magic, it would make sense for Vlad, a Haemomancer, to think controlling a Darkin is "even beyond us". The idea of LB getting her hands on a Darkin just makes me want the Fortiche Noxus show so much. I'm just rambling at this point, good vid bud! Can't wait for LTA to fire back up.
The runic language is modern Noxian. You can compare it to a few pieces of Art we have, for example the demon compandium. And the "blocky rune" is the logo of the trifarics. You will be able to see it all over SR tomorow. my counter argument for the Naafiri theory is that they are in Shurima. And if we go to Shurima in the Noxus season that would be really stupid. And LB is looking for weapons against Morde. I dont think a pack of enchanted desertwolves are super effective against an Undead metal warlord with an army of undead metal soldiers. My best guess is that it's Atakahn. We are getting a comic from him in client and maybe the darkin blood magic in Katas blades has something to do with summoning him. Because why else would LB send Elise to fight Kata.
@@dawnofraven3007 So I'm not entirely sure that it is modern Noxian. Firstly because Ochnun and Noxian will look very similar, since the script from Noxian is canonically born out of Ochnun. So the Daemonology tree would resemble Ochnun either way. Secondly, the room that LeBlanc is using to divine/scry on the various storylines doesn't seem to be presenting Noxian 'words' like we see in the demonology page. There are pretty clear words/phrases in the Noxian writing from that page, which I don't see from LB's divining symbols. They seem much more general, and imagery focused (The wolf with Mel's star in the head, etc) like I'd expect from magical prophecy. Secondly, wherever LB is, it's pretty clearly a part of a secure sanctum, hence her guard being down and her being in her human form, which I'd also expect to have been built during her time as one of Morde's mages. If it is, it would make sense for the magic of the place to be using Ochnun. Not discounting it, but it would be odd to me for it to be a literal Noxian script since the room would essentially just printing off the word "Trifarix" or similar. I'm also not sure it is the Trifarix symbol, if we're talking about the classical Noxian crest. The center of the design in particular is very different, doing away with the eyes of Vision and the large center crest for a much stouter, tri-pointed design. To me, it's reminiscent of a hand with axe blades on either side, which would make sense to me as a symbolic representation of Darius, the "Hand of Noxus". The other symbols strike me as imagery specific to each character, so I don't think Darius' was the Trifarix more generally, esp. considering we don't see Swain and that Mel (who I think is the Faceless/Trifarix of Guile, especially after the wolf with the star and her returning to Noxus post-Swain's rise, since the Elise skin sets this video after Swain has taken over) isn't associated with the symbol. Atakhan could make some sense, but it's very odd to me to use the 'eye in a weapon' motif on something that isn't Darkin since eyes in weapons is part of their key aesthetic. Also odd to me for Vlad to think Atakhan is 'beyond' them, but having first-hand experience with the Darkin (how he got his powers), makes more sense to me with his hesitancy. I don't think LeBlanc going after Naafiri would be the focus of the Noxus season, just that this sort of wider-world depictions is exactly what I want from the Noxus show. I also figure that she'd be looking for some way to transfer Naafiri to a new host - likely with help from Vladimir. Again - totally open for it to be Atakhan, but the visual language and the context around Vlad make me feel like it's more than just Atakhan. The LoR interactions imply that Atakhan may have been another one of Morde's mages or followers, and it's confirmed LB killed him. If anybody would be reticent about bringing him back, it would probably be LeBlanc. Again, not trying to discount any of your theories, just there's a lot of possibly implications in the cinematic.
i agree that the last rune is representing a darkin, but i don't think it's naafiri--it doesn't look like that dagger, plus she is in shurima, while the arcane showmakers have specified noxus, freljord, and demacia as the locations featured next. maybe its valeeva or xolaani or another? they are already seem to be showing mel as next champ, would make sense for the teaser at the end to represent a more distant new champ.
@@indigorune Well Noxus does control areas in Shurima, and it was a Black Rose agent ie Casiopia that lead to the release of Renekton and Xerath and the revival of Azir. so just because the focus may be Noxus does not mean we wont see other areas, in fact I would not be suprised, if the dagger is kinda what leads us into S2. That said the Darkin are scattered all over the world, so it may be a different weapon, we will have to wait and see. That said just because its does not look exactly like Naafiri, well LeBlanc is drawing representations of the objects she is scrying for ... in addition this is fortiche none of the champions look exactly as they do in the gamy, unless Riot does a VGU for them/or a skin
@@Ower8x idk that feels like reaching really hard. there are other darkin and they will be releasing another new champ, so it would make sense if it was connected. i know the showrunners from arcane said the next show will visit noxus, freljord, and demacia--no mention of shurima. that doesn't mean future season of the game for this year won't be based on shurima, but it really doesn't seem like it.
Dude, so many players complained about "not feeling the hype to play ranked after that". Seriously, players are just so "childish" and delusional to think after Arcane's success they will get anything designed specificly for their needs only. First off, they don't like anything and quite honestly, they will play the damn thing anyway, and second, Riot is still on the mission to bring in new people and win those who liked the show. I'm a player since 2014, but I loved every bit of the show, and this cinematic is my favorite of all, probably the least cartoonish.
@@DavidSzajnuk also this flew under the radar but there was a comic before the release of the “MageSeeker” game. Katarina gets hired by Swain as an assassin to help with the problems “plaguing Noxus” and Elise is tied to the black rose so it checks out that Kat and her would meet. Only thing remains is who the guy she was going after was.
Lissandra is using true ice magic ( further powered up by corruption ) so you can imagine how dangerous she'd be. I hope they're gonna a series set in Freljord eventually.
I just found out about LTA start date today after asking on twitter and someone that follows me told me they found out from raz's tweet. They aren't promoting it at all. It's ridiculous. also, it was my understanding that the entire year was themed, but there was a storyline making up the season, kind of like chapters. so the whole year is noxus, but it will have a progressing storyline, starting with this cinematic. but maybe i misunderstood?
yep, i misunderstood! noxus is just season 1. i wonder if it will all still be interconnected in some way though. seems like it would flow well if so, kind of like how they flowed the ending of arcane into this season teaser.
I have the theory that Swain wasn't in Arcane, just the demon, Raum, that Swain eventually gets his powers from. This is showing a young Darius, and Swain isn't in power yet when Darius fights Trundle. I'm calling that the Noxus show is Swain's rise to power and becoming who we see in game as the leader of Noxus

The Problem with Swain is, depending on the Timeline the Lore in this Trailer is, my guess, its BEFORE the Invasion of Ionia...so Swain isnt one of the Rulers of Noxus yet and hasnt "enslaved" Raum (the demon/raven) yet. So he is "just" one of the top Generals of Noxus. So his Influence in Noxus isnt that big as it is after the Events in Ionia where he actually becomes the Piller of Vision and one of the Rulers in Noxus.
I mean I agreed, the first time I watched the call and still here, they made me want to play. This one is good but definitely didn't have those effects on me
I actually did know about the LTA. What i still havent reaearched is how its going to work in the big picture. Like i know there is a North and South Conference(unless that has changed). Or are all teams in north and south competing openly against each other the entire time? 🤔
