REALLY great video, I really enjoyed watching it - very smart analysis and just overall: well done. The "mini-wargaming hipster" in you is right - we didn't want to give the campaign an end point. You hit the nail on the head; there's not really any "winning" in Hell. That said, you and your opponent can certainly set up an agreed upon end point: number of games, play all the scenarios once, number of Leader deaths, etc. Also, we're working on a solo/co-op add-on (with its own group of scenarios) but it'll be released for free. Probably before the end of July. We don't really plan on any other add-ons (although I love the idea of a "end of the campaign" scenario), but maybe some day we'll make a sequel of sorts. We're already starting on the concepts for our next game, which we hope to release around this same time next year, which will have a wildly different theme and rules, but still be miniatures-agnostic skirmish with a rich campaign system. Thanks again!
That is a very interesting insight re: the endpoint! I'm looking forward to running through any campaign systems you guys put out, too. Thanks very much for watching, and for putting out the cool system!
Holycows this is one impressive video for 1 person to make! It has so far given me the clearest feel of the game. For anyone that has never played the game, they MUST watch this video!
Thank you for putting this review together. It was obviously a mammoth task but extremely informative and fact based. Your insights into the constructs and workings of the game were really insightful and gave me an even greater appreciation of the capabilities and experience of the game creators Adam and Vince. Great sense of humour. Your ability to analyse the game is impressive. This was a joy and a pleasure to watch. 👌👍
This is great and made me stoked to play this game! The scientific approach to reviewing an entire campaign woth of a game like this is super refreshing and something I have never seen before! You rock dude!
Easily the best review of the game I've seen! Wish I would have known you were looking for campaign players, I would definitely have tried to join. Looking forward to more reviews like this in the future!
Wow, this was really informative. I was pretty curious about this game, and it definitely has my interest piqued. I may see if any of my friends are interested in a narrative campaign setting like this one, though setting up a time for games is challenging lately.
Great review! It really shows that you put some serious thought into your analysis and gave it to us straight. The daily log entries were fun to watch too.
Love the review- very thorough recap so thanks for the effort. Found this is the game's FAQ re/ fun curve you noticed (ie- the SQUASH): the game was designed to curve out at about 10 games in a campaign before your warbands start to cap out on their power and abilities, so that is a reasonable number if you are looking to set a limit.
Great video!!! I love Reign in Hell. It got me to actually kit bash a couple cabal of demons using mini's from companies I hadn't yet purchased from but wanted to build and paint even though I wasn't really interested in those game systems.
Looks like I might struggle a bit with my Brokers Cabal! Thanks for the overview, very insightful! Since you're looking at solo games with a campaign system, have you checked out Five Parsecs from Home? That and Rangers of Shadow Deep have been my two main games for a few years now.
I think you'll do fine with the Brokers so long as your leader is a warrior or a zealot. I've heard of Five Parsecs, it looks cool. I just don't have nearly as much scifi models so end up favoring fantasy systems.
I really enjoyed this video! The overall look at the game and inclusion of most aspects was informative and pretty entertaining. Personally I would have liked a little light background music at points but that’s subjective of course. The editing was also quite impressive.
Absolutely phenomenal review. The amount of work and playtesting that goes into your content is astonishing. I'm very curious to hear your thoughts on Wargame/Skirmish campaigns more generally. Or a review of Necromunda. I know you're more interested in highlighting indie games, but maybe a video of what GW gets wrong with campaign play? My friend group have played two campaigns of necromunda over the last year, and I've been that player who had to drop out by the last week each time. Between the labyrinthine rules and gang bloat, by week 5 of this second campaign single games were lasting 6-9 hours. I simply don't have that kind of time and was no longer having any fun.
I feel like the end goal can be made up by the organizers. Personally I'd make a narrative for each mission that builds to an end where 2 face off and the winner basically has what ever their philosophy happen like earth bound create a portal to earth for example

It looks very cool. I'm certainly going to give it a try!
This game really needs the Doom Guy as a wandering NPC :)

Thanks! It's a style of review I wanted to see more of personally, and now I totally get why it isn't the norm, haha.

Glad you enjoyed it! Still got all my cabals kicking around in case anyone local decides they want to play.
This channel is, as always, a delight

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to be covering more narrative based solo systems in the future, it's a great alternative approach to the hobby.
Excellent review in both depth and quality, thank you so much for taking the time to do this.

Great review! I had already bought the rules, but your review gave me some very good insight on what to expect when playing. Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it! I always have a hard time deciding whether BGM suits a video or not, might try some on for the next video in this format.

Nasty tongues describe Frostgrave as "competitive shopping"
Your review videos take a long time to produce but I really wish more wargaming channels could approach your level of insight. Thanks!
I've been catching up on your videos recently, and I have to say, this channel is awesome. Well done! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for recommending all those great models.
Thanks for this review! I bought it the moment it came out but still haven't gotten a game in
You should do a video on Lasting Tales. Would love to get your take on that game.

Definitely a good avenue for some interesting user rulings!
It would be cool if the end point victory condition was something like the acquisition of a certain uber title that was very difficult to obtain
Through and well thought out. Thank you for this!
Awesome video! Can you please link the demons slts ? I can not find them
