Feeling bad for bank or feeling bad for apple, that's a tough one.. although i do lean towards bank, they send me a happy birthday text every year
The bank passes that cost onto the retailer...so retailer takes the knock and often margins are single digits anyways. Which means...cost or below cost.
I look at it this way. I can give my money to a bank or I can give my money to Apple. At least I know I can access my money from my bank where as if I buy an iPhone it will start sucking one update after they announce the new iPhone 6 months later. And I'm not giving Apple any more money then I have to, even if they come out with an iMattress that I can hide my money under.
And that birthday text costed me 5$ every year

I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it's pretty wild when you consider their actual behaviors and compare them. It's like the same shit but Microsoft gets the paddle while apple gets to slowly and quietly make a minimal effort to backpedal.
I remember MS being sued for making Explorer preinstalled default browser. 25 years later… good luck with attempting to delete Edge from Windows. And it periodically appears to be default, no matter how hard you click NO button…

It doesn't seem to be much, but when you consider that it is applied to the total amount for every purchase... it is doubling each year ($1 billion in 2021, $1.9 billion in 2022 and in 2023, it's estimated that the figure more than doubled to $4 billion)

I kind of understand the watch thing. Apple Watch only works with Apple products, and pixel watch or galaxy watch only work with android.
But both of those scenarios are caused by Apple. They don't want third party developers to make a competing watch so they limit how third party watches can interface with their iPhone. Similarly, they don't want Apple Watch users to buy an Android, so they don't allow it to interface with android devices. Android developers would happily create watches that worked with iPhones if Apple let them.
@@ClearAlera You're partially correct, Apple does limit third party developers to what they can do, and that's the monopoly part of the whole situation, however, there are still a lot of other watch makers with iOS support, like Garmin. Google and Samsung are taking a page out of Apple's playbook though, the reason their watches don't work with iOS is because they want to get users into their ecosystems.

1) Apple isn't responsible for other companies not being able to compete. It's up to competitors to make compelling products. The Fire phone failed because it was trash. Windows phone failed because it was late to the market and just not appealing enough.
2) SMS just sucks, that's not an Apple issue, it's why RCS was created and Apple will be adopting RCS. You also have all sorts of other messaging platforms, with WhatsApp being #1 in the world.
3) Android based smart watches do not work with iOS or the ones that do don't work well. It's the manufacturers responsibility to integrate using the available APIs.
3) Google Play Store has the exact SAME 15-30% cut on App subscriptions.
4) Switching platforms isn't hard, you can pick up an Android phone and learn it pretty fast. It's also pretty damn easy to migrate your data from iOS to Android or vice versa. I switched from iOS to Android, back to iOS, and now have a phone on each platform because I like technology and have been learning App development for both platforms.
5) Apple having a smooth user experience that makes some people prefer it isn't a legal argument. It's like punishing a restaurant for having better food and service than a competitor restaurant.
The lawsuit is based off of idiotic, tech illeterate arguments. With the logic of the government's arguments they could sue Sony because they sell more consoles, and switching to Xbox would cost money to switch, both in terms of hardware costs and software costs. It's just anti-capitalist at this point.
I find it ironic that our government claims Apple is a monopoly (a label I disagree with) while they allow other monopolies to exist without issue.
@@scubasteve1555the issue with the app store stuff is Apple doesn't allow any alternatives. It's either 30% or nothing. Which overall makes buying stuff on Apple tend to be more expensive. And in turn also hurts actual people who make a living doing content creation and stuff.
Some apps don't even offer their subscriptions on ios bc it's so expensive. Twitch doesn't allow you to buy twitch turbo. And if you wanna buy it from a ios device u have to figure out a bypass to even look it up. Cux they block u from doing it on a mobile web browser(cuz of apples predatory practices)
They have many times also blocked as they stated cloud streaming. Tho AFAIK they allow remote play stuff (as Apple said. You have to own each game to be able to play it. Hence why remote play is allowed. )

The thing about watches isn't about the user experience itself. It's about Apple straight up not allowing other watches to do the stuff a Apple watch can do.
On andorid watches for the most part use a open source software that anyone can use.
Also keep in mind. Apples a expensive brand. Why is it if I pay 1500 dollars on a phone I can't use the perphials I want ? Why do I HAVE to use a Apple watch to get all the features ?
