This is happening everywhere, only JNU students have the guts to stand up to the government. Even in my institute, which is fully funded by MHRD a business model is being followed. The hostel fees have been hiked from 5500 to 10000 per semester and the cost of form for PhD has been increased from 1000 to 5000. The PhD students hostel has been converted to a guest house, which is lent out like a hotel room for 1500 rs. per day and the PhD students who get no scholarship are asked to pay 7000 rupees per month to stay in that guest house. All these progressive developments are the contributions of a director who has political connections in Delhi and is subtly refusing education to less privileged people of society. This is the education ministry of Modi Sarkar. Hats off to JNU students.

Even if we ignore JNU fee hike but we cannot ignore the fee hike in IITs. Govt. is spending millions on statutes and cows but they can't provide subsidy in education. With 1.3 billion people our country spend only 1% of its GDP in education....even Bangladesh and some African countries spend more than that......The main reason of this protest is that why education in our country is getting costlier....If this trend goes on then education will be confined among the riches and the high classes and the majority of the lower class will live in ignorance...Does the BJP govt. wants to take India to dark ages again..

JNU is Great
Even if we ignore JNU fee hike but we cannot ignore the fee hike in IITs. Govt. is spending millions on statutes and cows but they can't provide subsidy in education. With 1.3 billion people our country spend only 1% of its GDP in education....even Bangladesh and some African countries spend more than that......The main reason of this protest is that why education in our country is getting costlier....If this trend goes on then education will be confined among the riches and the high classes and the majority of the lower class will live in ignorance...Does the BJP govt. wants to take India to dark ages again..
All Universities must come together to support the students of JNU. When public money is lavishly spent for statues, temples and religious matters,our whole education must be free.
