Needless to say they dropped out of swimming and concentrated on their studies instead and are shooting for valedictorian! The problem is many colleges want them to have 4 years of sports also. This country doesn't have priorities when it comes to our students getting ahead.
It's usually the coaches son who play quarterback in small towns. coach Bob Jonson coached both Brett and Rob Johnson at Quarterback In Apr 29, 1994 - Bret Johnson, a former El Toro High School and UCLA quarterback, has been released by the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. Robert Garland Johnson (born March 18, 1973) is a former professional American football quarterback and current assistant football coach at Mission Viejo High School. Johnson, a native of Orange County, California, played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) and was a fourth-round pick in the 1995 NFL Draft by the expansion team Jacksonville Jaguars.
@joeyg1463: U missed my point, not all kids are even given the chance to compete in those odds. Say Aaron Rodgers was at a high school that the coaches son was QB or the coach was bestfriends with the family of the kid trying out for QB. Trust me I seen this happen in small towns where kids played main positions like QB and had no right starting. Where I’m from there’s been a lot players go to the NFL from my school and the towns next to it...Jordan Whitehead, Ty law, tony dorsett, Mike dicka, D. Foster, D. Revis, Joe Namath, and many more.
Any mention of that 2014 NFCCG against Seattle still raises my blood pressure on command. I've never felt more disappointed with sports in my whole life lol.
The thing I love about Rodgers is that he likes to prove people wrong, I hope ppl doubt his skill level one more time for him to show them who is the owner of the Chicago Bears.
Only thing he has proven is he is God awful in the playoffs and doesn't seem to practice enough in the off-season. But what do I know im just a football fan.
Aaron Rodgers deserves every success. Cal deserves the blame for allowing athletic directors to sour the relationship, so much so that Rodgers often names the junior college in his capsule bio on NFL broadcasts. What a scathing rebuke against an alma mater.
Rodgers is a B E A S T!! He has dissected defenses better than any other QB that has ever done it. Throwing bullets into tight 🪟 windows!! He is also very vocal while doing it. Rodgers accuracy and big play ability is his calling card. Many have been in the wrong side of his 4th quarter heroics. Rodgers is a threat till the last second of every game. Putting the ball into his hands st the end of a game is a recipe for a comeback!

That being said we should not have gotten that dub this year against GB. No Cobb, limited Lazard contributed to that win. God Bless this man for bringing years of moxie and thrilling play to this league. Hats off AR…
I am from South Africa and I just watched the Green Bay vs Tennessee game and I almost wrote Rodgers off after that highlights special and then this post appeared on my feed lol
Man I remember that 2010 superbowl . I was just 8 years old and that was my first football and superbowl game I ever watched. Our small TV in the living room with my momma . Time flys :(
I just watched him this weekend against Minnesota with him you always have a chance. I've watched him live at the game and on the practice field and he's one of a kind great,,kinda like Tiger Woods. Rodgers is the 🐅 🪵s of football...
Two of the most talented arms to ever throw the ball, no doubt. Favre was a legend but couldn't help himself when it came to risky passes though. It's almost like the management in Green Bay thought to themselves "hmm, what would Favre look like if he didn't throw interceptions?" and then found that kid at Cal Tech and signed him. Rodger's talent is undeniable but his decision making puts him in another league. We've been lucky, that's for sure.
A few tidbits to add... Butte was not the only school he reached out to. He reached out to at least one more JC who said no, they had a good qb. Butte was absolutely dominant even prior to Rodgers, infact that team also had a NFL TE and multiple future D1 players. It was obvious from (even before) game one that Rodgers was really good. His reputation in the area proceeded him. The NorCal JC system (at least at that time) was really good, and was home to a ton of future D1 and nfl players.
I helped my friend who was a sportswriter for the Paradise Post during Rodger's senior year. After covering the Paradise game, we went down to P.V. to catch the end of the game against Grant (Sacramento). I watched from the sidelines as Aaron threw the ball all over the field. When my friend later told me he ended up at Butte, I was in total disbelief.
This is why AR12 plays with such a chip on his shoulder. He’s had the hardest path of any QB to the NFL. In spite of his post-season shortcomings, he will retire as a top 5 QB off all time, along with having set some records that will take a lot of beating.
Talk about a late bloomer...5'7" as a freshman...That was me too, i was the 2nd fastest guy on the freshman team at 5'7" 130 lbs.. and got playing time at CB and HB, but that's where it ended, everyone else kept growing and I just kept getting injured due to my small farme. lol. I got up to 165 lbs when I was in the Marines but i stayed 5'7". Now here I am 65 years old and I still weigh my boot camp graduation weight of 148 lbs. but i am still 5'7"...probably closer to 5'6" now. i never got the growth spurt.
Thank you for this video. It's fax! Despite the playoff shit shows, there is no denying that Aaron Rodgers is a top 5 greatest QB of all time! He is in my top 3 of all time, but I certainly respect your take on it!
Another player that came from that Community College region was Jason Sehorn. Sehorn went to Shasta Community College, which is only about 40 miles from Butte, and I think they are in the same league.
even as a vikings fan you cant deny his greatness. its bittersweet to witness greatness detroying your team for 10+ years 🥲 the front office never gave him any help after his first superbowl. no defense, no weapons. first ballot hof for sure

@@DMDvideo10 local man doesn't realize that Rodgers had the highest post season QBR for *years* before he was passed by Mahomes last year. Lead in practically every post season stat that matters- still does in a lot of cases. Fun fact, the average PPG allowed by the Packers defense before last year (idk what it is now) was 35- Brady's only ever scored >35 points in 7 post season games, 5 of which were game 1 blowouts where the other team basically fell into the post season accidentally. If Brady had to play with GB's defense he'd have 1 ring too🤷🏼♂
@@coopers1716 Fun fact: Rodgers fans love blaming his defense for his failures. He's been to plenty of NFC games and his defense wasn't the problem. His fear of failure is. He doesn't have the killer instinct int he playoffs. Another Nor Cal athlete that got overlooked is a guy named Ricky Ray. Went to Shasta high-school tried to get into the NFL, managed to get on the practice squad with the 49ers. Eventually pursued a career up in the Canadian football league where he won several championships as quarterback. Begs the question how many guys the major colleges & NFL have missed. 🤔
@@RUclipsuser1aa yeah thats pretty much what I'm saying. The NFL has a horrible track record of holding on to some players far to long & ignoring others, especially at QB. Matt Leinhardt, Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco, Jim McMahon all got more looks than say Doug Flutie, Jeff Garcia, Warren Moon (who all had runs in the CFL). The NFL is notorious for overlooking talent based solely on frivolous measurables like the 40 yard dash, high jump, etc. I think there have been more greats missed & not coached up than have been put on the field. Heck look at Kurt Warner (with the exception of his Giants run) he was stocking shelves before he had dumb luck, right place right time open the door for him to showcase what he could do.
The cool part of the story was when Cal coach visited the JC to scout a receiver, he used a pay phone on drive back to the Bay to offer him a scholarship. Before cell phones.
First time I've watched anything Aaron Rodgers. He was a bit stiff at times with the coin toss and is no doubt a great player. When I compare to Brady, it just confirms how awesome Brady is. @@Random-zy7pl cause he passed his way to 7 Superbowls.Brady was clutch when it mattered. Rodgers went missing when it did, in playoffs. I know who I'm picking first in the schoolyard lunchtime game.
It's almost as though a QB sitting a few years to learn the system, develop, and avoid being immediately thrown to the wolves can be beneficial in not obliterating their confidence.
Rodgers will be remembered as only having one SB win and thus could never be considered with the great QB's. Off the field, he is an odd fellow and doesn't even have a relationship with his own family, very strange dude indeed.
Its funny how Aaron rodgers grew 5 inches from junior year to college. I had the same exact height as a freshman and as a junior I was 5'6 yet I didn't grow after my senior year which was my final height stopping at 5'7.
@11:20 you just grazed right over him demolishing Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders, like it was just some regular season walk in the park but coming from someone who was present at the game and is a life long Washington fan, that game was so much more for the home team that day. It was a crazy run for Washington and the season that Kirk Cousin solidified his worth in the league as a regular season starter, note I didn’t just say starter, where he dropped the legendary line “YOU LIKE THAT?!” as he was on a hot streak going into that playoff game. Of course we all know now Cousins is one of the greatest regular season stat kings but my god idk that I’ve seen a human with less of a clutch gene or the ability to win it when the spot lights are on and all the marbles are at stake.
Johnson, a native of Orange County, California, played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) and was a fourth-round pick in the 1995 NFL Draft by the expansion team Jacksonville Jaguars.
mm no theres only one aaron rogers...had the same odds as many other kids...he stood out for a reason
2:12 he won a starting job a veteran that’s been there several years.😅. That’s a two year school.
The thing I love about Rodgers is that he likes to prove people wrong, I hope ppl doubt his skill level one more time for him to show them who is the owner of the Chicago Bears.
Exactly
That’s what I like about him also, I hope I can meet that guy one day!
He’s trash rn
Only thing he has proven is he is God awful in the playoffs and doesn't seem to practice enough in the off-season. But what do I know im just a football fan.
Cali Juco rep baby
13:38 This just had his season ended but but it's funny shot of him being carried like that through the Vikings cheerleaders!
I’m a huge fan (a forever fan) of Aaron Rodgers! A fan all the way from 🇵🇭 I hope he will have a healthy and injury free for the rest of his career!
Top 5 QB’s of all time without a doubt
You chose a bad day to post this 😆 🤣
After losing to Taylor heinicke

Yeah Green Bay sucks now 😕
Really wasn’t his fault refs prob got paid 2 million bucks
@@YoXotic literally all of the calls the refs made were right on both sides. There wasn’t one penalty I thought could’ve been wrong
Aaron Rodgers deserves every success. Cal deserves the blame for allowing athletic directors to sour the relationship, so much so that Rodgers often names the junior college in his capsule bio on NFL broadcasts. What a scathing rebuke against an alma mater.
Aarron rodgers is probably top 5 in greatest quarterbacks to ever live or play the game
Hands down the best and most talented QB of all time. Obviously us Packers fans wish we had multiple SBs with him by now, but regardless he is such a phenomenal and legendary QB. Hope he keeps playing after this year! 💚💛
Can’t blame Rodgers tbh
@@bradthompson5383 Nope, none of them can make all the throws Rodgers has made
@@bradthompson5383 Lmao Rodgers was making the throws Mahomes makes when Mahomes was in middle school 😂 And Rodgers has the most 70+ yard TDs in NFL history, and is definitely the best pure passer in history. Russ’ deep ball is good but not as good as Rodgers. I shouldn’t even have to say this lol, the career film speaks for itself.
@@bradthompson5383 Lmaooo so you’re trying to tell me Rodgers is not a good QB? Lmfao he’s objectively top 10 all time 😂 And has a very strong case for being the most physically gifted and talented thrower of all time. Stfu clown
@@bradthompson5383 Ok bud, you’re entitled to your opinion
Rogers is based in life and one of the top 5 QB's ever.. Hated him as a Bears fan though
Thank you for getting your history right. They beat the REDSKINS for that playoff victory. I hate when people rewrite history by saying that they beat the commanders. Commanders didn’t exist.
How the hell did the 49ers pass on Aaron Rodgers for Alex Smith? Shakes my head.
I love nonstop sports
Man I remember that 2010 superbowl . I was just 8 years old and that was my first football and superbowl game I ever watched. Our small TV in the living room with my momma . Time flys :(
I just watched him this weekend against Minnesota with him you always have a chance. I've watched him live at the game and on the practice field and he's one of a kind great,,kinda like Tiger Woods. Rodgers is the
🐅 🪵s of football...
Packers' fans got two of the best arms to ever play back-to-back. It's been like 30 years of greatness or something.
And only two Superbowl Wins. Yikes.
@@spooge33 Great point. Two is better than none though.
@@mitchellknight gunslinger
Jordan loves looking pretty damn good too.
Boy I wish I could have kept growing after high school
Ironic Brett Favre got mad the packers drafted a QB considering Aaron rodger’s recent history
Favre is not in the same conversation as Rodgers.
I was at the Cal vs.USC game and of all the great players on the field that day, he was something special.
In a way I think the 4 years on bench cost him another Superbowl and mvps

Rodgers is one of the QB's I am entertained by the most, especially when he throws a bomb into the end zone and it is receiveved for the TD.
Watching this video makes you wonder how many potential sports legends have been passed up and never given a chance at all.

Aaron Rodgers is the greatest NFL Player to ever come out of Pleasant Valley High School!

Doug flutie and Kurt warner had a way harder time.
Imagine AR12 being your defense attorney beating the charge and then doing the discount double check 😂😂😂
Dont worry bud! In the next life !
It said Aaron was 5’3” as a Freshman n
You got to be a part of a pretty good team- USMC.
0:22 no cap Arron Rodgers created the dab keep slaying king lol.
Aaron Rodgers " LEGEND " 🔥🔥🔥
Am a long time Cal fan...Am a tightwad hill veteran and off and on season ticket holder....Best Cal team ive ever seen was Rodgers Jr. yr there....The fact that Beast Mode Marshawn Lynch was in the backfield made Cal a damn good team then....
NFL playoffs pre josh Allen overtime rules really costed A-Aron at least one more ring and definitely a trip there.
I'd say Aaron and his coach cost him more trips... He crumbles in those big moments...
As far as Brady goes sure he some great defenses but name one title besides 2020 where his defense shut down the opposing team and Brady won easily... You can't in all of those Pats SB games Brady had to step up and score for to win them. He's led the Pats to 96 4th quarter points in Super Bowls.

My math teacher went to college with him and Marshawn Lynch
Another Nor Cal athlete that got overlooked is a guy named Ricky Ray. Went to Shasta high-school tried to get into the NFL, managed to get on the practice squad with the 49ers. Eventually pursued a career up in the Canadian football league where he won several championships as quarterback. Begs the question how many guys the major colleges & NFL have missed. 🤔
Doesn’t sound very good
@@RUclipsuser1aa Facts & stats matter more than "how it sounds"
@@The-Jokes-on-You I mean, he doesn’t sounds very good. He was on a practice squad.
Are you saying the NFL doesn’t look for top players in Canada?
Just realized how much young Aaron Rodgers looked like Ryan Howard from the Office
I went to Cal. When Rogers faced that big USC game, he completed his first 20 passes in a row.
A legend in his own mind. One SB 13 years means nothing. And stats without titles doesn’t make a legend. Fade away you prima donna.

First time I've watched anything Aaron Rodgers. He was a bit stiff at times with the coin toss and is no doubt a great player. When I compare to Brady, it just confirms how awesome Brady is. I just realized it’s funny that this year another Wisconsin sports team (the bucks) also had the 24th pick of the draft this year
It's almost as though a QB sitting a few years to learn the system, develop, and avoid being immediately thrown to the wolves can be beneficial in not obliterating their confidence.
