  • This is the last part of building your own holley carb for high power. This has been a 3 part series based around the entire premise that you can make any power that you want to make if you make the right choices when it comes to building your own holley carb. In the next video that I make about carbs I will be sharing what I ultimately decided on using for my e85 turbo build. This series of videos will show you that any regular guy can take a stock used carb and use used parts to make it perform the way it needs to perform for his build. In future videos I will show you guys how to make the nessesary changes to be able to tune a holley. everything from adjusting the idle all the way to adjusting the secondary power enrichment circuit. Tuning is based on a triangle and the better your tune is down low, the easier it will be to tune up top.

    Today we are continuing the build on our blow through carburetor. So far we have talked about the holley main body and now we will be talking about both the base plates as well as the fuel bowls for the carb we will be building. I will be using a set of demon fuel bowls to take advantage of their extra fuel capacity as well as a regular set of nitril filled floats in preparation for e85. As for the base plate I will be swapping out the barry grant base plate in favor of an aftermarket billet aluminum base plate because it has less bells and whistles and looks cleaner than the OEM piece. The final video will come out soon and it will go through the metering circuits of the carb so stay tuned for the final installment of the series!
    Today we are going over the carburetor build for my turbo LS build. This carburetor started life as an alcohol carb race demon and soon it will be set up for regular 87 octane gasoline. Once I finish the tune for 87, I will be adding a cam and then later retuning for the switch to e85. Once all that preliminary tuning is out of the way, I will be installing the turbo charger and begin tuning on that as well. As I step up the power levels, this carb will get wilder and wilder so you dont want to miss any of the holley carb secrets!
    After A long while I have put the most cohesive method of setting up the idle on your holley carb. Setting the idle mixture screws and getting your engine to run clean without having to buy any special tools. In this video I manage to set up the idle in less than 15 mins and also do it quickly and easily. As of right now, the holley carb on the 318 duster is perfectly set up in both idle mixture and idle speed. The carburetor in question is a DEMON 625, an older barry grant holley copy before holley bought out DEMON. It took a little bit of work, but I've got this set up perfectly.
    Tuning Holley carbs are probably the most widely used carb is all of automotive history. The Holley 4 barrel is a staple among racers and cruiser a like but too few people really understand what goes on inside their Holley carb and too many decide to ditch the old carb in favor of a new one. I am here to share 5 secrets you can employ TODAY to get that Holley nice and tuned and running better than ever in true DIY fashion. I'm put to work these 5 secretes to get my Carb ls going so these are definitely something you need to keep in mind. Tuning a holley carb is what separates the boys from the racers. Depending on how well this video does, I'll be breaking up and going into full detail of what goes on specifically in the different circuits as well so stay tuned!
    How to set idle on a holley and other such questions are answered! Holley carb wont idle? Car wont idle? Holley carb runs rich? Holley carb wont start hot? All these questions AND MORE will be answered TODAY. too many people have no idea how the holley idle and transition circuit work on a holley carb. too many people belong to the set it and forget it line of thinking when it comes to out of the box carbs and not too many really know whats going on and decide to just give the carb a bad rap. Well, today we are going into an in depth tutorial and explaining on how these systems work and how you can get more out of your carburetor, maybe even pull up a few MPGs while you are at it!

    We are back at it again to bring you another holley tuning video! This weeks video will talk about tuning a holley carb but without any fancy tools. I'll be showing you guys how to tune a holley carburetor by only listening to the exhaust note. If you guys can master this skill. You will know what to look for when you run into issues in the future. This is somewhat of a longer video but it was super important that I bring out as much tuning info to light as I can so that way you guys can get back

    I have a Holley 9510, made for a ford,with no air adjustment screws, can I modify this with a metering block/ETC to use on a Chevy for example????? Thx 👍🏻

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  10 месяцев назад

      You should be able to simply swap the metering block with one with adjustible fuel mixture screws

    can you explain or maybe another video but some metering blocks have the main well tapped and emulsion tube removed, information i found was this is done to hold more fuel in the well but how does this affect overall performance of the circuit. ? can the idle well also be tapped and plugged with a set screw also.? I would like to avoid the brass cups if possible thanks.

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад

      Its done to allow more fuel flow when running alcohol or race fuel with a lot of horsepower. If its a street car, theres no need for that. Itll richen up the circuit but its mainly done to relieve the bottle neck of fuel

    I just ordered a 4160 to 4150 conversion kit from AED and there are 4 holes drilled on top of the block. I wasn't sure, so I watched your video and I dont recall you explained what they were for. Can you explain it thanks.

    Another great deep dive into the 4150 series carbs. I sent you a message on Instagram, but have you ever thought about doing deep dive tuning info on the 4160 series like the rest of is poor folk use?

    So would a 750 double pumper use the same metering blocks and a 650 double pumper carburetor?

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад

      Highly unlikely. But they will work. 750 block on 650 would run richer, 650 block on a 750 would run leaner reguarless of whether its rejetted or not.

      @@NightWrencher makes me wonder. I have a 650 mechanical secondaries Quick Fuel Brawler. I'm putting a Proform 750 body on it but am unsure if the metering blocks will work ok. The stock jetting is 70 and 74 which seems really tight compared to the 74 and 83 that come with the Proform body. I could buy the Proform metering blocks but am trying not to spend much.

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  Год назад

      I was talking specifically about take the blocks out of say a holley 4777 and swap them with a holley 4779. If all you're doing is swapping the main body, I would keep everything else the same. You might need a little more jet in the secondaries but the primaries should be close to the same since fueling is taken over by the PV at WOT.

      Different 600s have different jetting. Try to lookup your carb number online. You should be able to find out what it came from the factory.

    I have question, I have a 780 quick fuel. On my 402. And it's to big. Was able to find a 650 middle body with a choke and want to swap everything over to this 650 middle body. Is that possible?? Or are the butterflies to large for the 650 body?? Thanks..

    • @NightWrencher
      @NightWrencher  2 года назад

      Hey man, I just saw your comment, the QFT 780 should have the same baseplate as the 650 if they are both either double pumper or both vacuum secondary but wont work if you're trying to mix and match. a 780 seems like the perfect carb for a 402, why do you think its too big?

      A 302 with a b cam and gt40 heads uses a 750 like its a 650. Check your timing curve. Tailor about 14-16 intial. Get it all in quick. Most likely your issue
