this chanel is an absolute dream come true for me! I've always wanted to diy a helmet for my self, but I was always scared and worried it won't be what I imagined, but the technique and steps you've given in just 2 videos?! invaluable
You probably dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my brother for the last few days =)
So detailed and so many little tricks in here, really kind of you to take the time to pull this together, cheers! Good effort on the filming/edit too 👍🏻
Really like your videos. I also paint helmets and I was very surprised that someone so openly shared the specifics of this job. Looking forward to the next video! :)
Superb work as always Patrice! Nice videos, I mostly end up with too short of time when I have record my process of helmetpaint, I have a bunch of them and maybee someday I have the time to edit them also =). Great work!
Did you ever get to build the lining tool? I am asking around too but I cant find the parts that go on the rod to hold the pencil... So far I have a metal rod with a skateboard-wheel base (the rod is in between the bearings in order for it to be able to spin) but I cant find a sturdy way to get the pencil to be on there and to be leveled... tape is just not working!
Lol. I’m pretty sure I stole my measuring tape from my mom too. Also, the “must have” tool from the beginning is called a Ring Stand. They are used in chemistry primarily.
I wanted to ask if there is any place or a way to take a helmet that i design and painted and make mass production so that u can save time instead to paint each and every helmet all over again???
That's the nature of what we do as "custom" helmet painters. The helmets are one-offs painted exclusively for each customers. For mass production, check out what motorcycle helmet manufacturers do.
Hey Patrice !!! Ihave 2 questions for you : for how long and at what temperature should i put my helmet in the oven for the paint to cure? Thank you in advance. Chears!
Always refer to the Technical Data Sheet from the paint manufacturer. In my case, my clearcoat should dry 30 minutes at 60 degree Celsius. Every product is different.
Depends what paint I spray. If I know the color is going to cover them, I don't erase them. If not, I erase everything just before spraying the paint. Cheers.
Another interesting video Patrice. As a designer hoping to get into painting, is there a reason why you recommend not painting chinstrap rivets? Or is it just personal preference? I look forward to the next video.
As long as I remember, I always tried to make my helmet paints look like it's from the factory. Therefore the rivet should not be painted. There is ABSOLUTELY no problem with painting them but, I think it looks way better when they are bare metal.
@@helmetgurucanada Thanks for the reply Patrice. Something I haven't got my head around yet, is orders of paint and trying to keep the layers to a minimum. Coloured stroke lines seem a paint? Keep up the great videos!
The best instructional video on RUclips ever!❤

Do you clean the helmet before you paint to get rid of fingerprints and grease, like at 12:00, if yes, how do you maintain the masking?
What clear coat product do you use?
excelente muito bom profissional
New sub now ✌️
where can i get The tools to be traced ?? plz
How did you build that pencil lining tool? I'm trying to build one myself. Trying to find the parts. Any help would be appreciated. Great work.
I made it from scrap parts I had and the help of a machinist friend. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Why do you only mask some of the top vent holes?

Wondering how/when you erase your traced lines?! Ty!

@Patrice Harvey what kind of sandpaper do you use before you ad the clear coat?
Nice but how do these companies make a carbon fibre helmet?
Ask them
What type of paint do you use ?
Solvent based only! Anything from House Of Kolor to PPG to Automotive Art and SEM.
these are videos just in masking... they are not tutorials on how to paint helmets
What is your email
