I have been using the clip since mid 2018 and yet still I found stuff in this video that I did not know. By the way, I found that, with the delanclip mounted on the right hand side of the headset, I have placed the camera a little to the right of centre on the monitor. This means that the clip is directly in line (perpendicular) with the camera and it seems to detect head movement better. Great video @TortugaPower. Thank you.
Hi Bruce, I did the exact same thing with my camera, but I didn't enact that change until a little after this video recording. So it's good advice to others.
This clip is well worth the investment. I just got mine today and the installation was almost effortless. What took the most time was bending the metal arm so it is straight again. That took the most time. With a little tweaking i can get the curves right and it wont be so twitchy but that is not the clips fault. Support this company. Please do. I was not willing to buy Track IR. This costs 1/3 of the price and am happy with it.

"2 hours to get comfortable and 5 hours to sort it out"... that's fair. Good article. I've a TrackHat clip meself and I'd say that you give a (very) fair review Mr Power!!
I think one alternative is DIY clip similar to delanClip then buy licensed facetracknoir. wouldn't cost more than $10. Only if you already have a webcam.
I used FaceTrackNoIR a while ago when I first started playing Rise of Flight, then upgraded to Track IR because the face tracking was still a bit janky at the time. It doesn't really matter what you use for head tracking, so long as you have something. Now I'm trying VR for Flying Circus, the successor to RoF using the IL-2 BoS engine. The sense of immersion in VR is something totally different. I can look around the cockpit and see the machine gun, lean over the side and see exactly how far I am from the ground. The down side is the relatively low resolution of VR. It can be difficult to read gauges or spot a plane at a distance when there are fewer pixels (and I don't think I can zoom in VR), and you really need to crane your neck to look behind you (something head tracking. I don't see myself going back to non-vr flying, but I am concerned that it may be a disadvantage in a competitive arena due to the extra difficulty.
That's very cool, gascan. Actually I have the same question as Owen: what VR set? I am very close to getting the Oculus. I used it at a friend's place for a racing sim and it was impressive.
My brother Kotori uses the Oculus Rift, I just upgraded to the Valve Index. The difference in resolution helps, but I still need to tweak my graphical settings. I suspect I'm not getting the best FPS possible, which can help with motion sickness. I'm good for at least a half hour at a time, but usually need a break after an hour.
Hello, could anyone help me? I often play in Apache, and therefore with the helmet viewfinder. However, when I try to aim at a target with it, there seems to be an area where I cannot access the target. (where the aim cursor is located) How to adjust this?
WIth the software, can you eliminate pitch up/down movement completely? My desired use is racing games so i can look to apexes/side to side. I don't see the need for up/down in this instance. Cheers
@Daniel, start Opentrack, then start the game in windowed mode. Use Alt Tab to bring opentrack to be on top of the game so you can adjust opentrack while still accessing the game.
Hi, good video. But for some reason the IL2 file doesn't work for me it gets no detection what so ever, the default does, is there some way to fix that? Greetings
Hi, great video, explained everything, showed everything i'm just interested if it lowers your fps by a bit/stutters a little bit and also what are your pc specs?
No, I don't have any such issues. OpenTrack will occupy some system resources, but I never noticed an impact. I'm using GTX 1080 and Intel i5 ~3.3 GHz (4 core)
Yeah, I guess that depens on where are you from, for example in Spain I paid over 66€ for the delanclip, that´s like 100-120 euros less than track IR5 on Spanish stores
Has anyone found a good way of securing it to the headset? Velcro doesn't hold it tight enough and i find myself constantly pressing my centre button to reset
Hello, I just bought delanclip and configured arma 3 but the problem is when play as infantry and aim with scope like 4x the sensitivity is way too much, do you know how to deal with that or can you share your profile setting? I am using Open track THanks in advance
I never set up opentrack for Arma, only used it for flying. The solution is probably have two different profiles, Arma_land, and Arma_vehicle, one with much less sensitivity. I don't know, tough one.
i made my own 3d printed custom tracking clip and with ps3 eyecam(i have both flat lens and curved and without removing the IR filter) configured it properly here is the tracker clip image link- ( imgur.com/01QgVkb ) and tested in dcs link- ( ruclips.net/video/aPFJDNqMyjw/видео.html )
I don't know the details (clearly), but I'd say that if they are willing to work with you for a refund, that's a good thing. Sorry to hear about the camera issues. Did you buy through their website?

FacetrackNoIr is awful software, & the support is also bad. When I lost my copy of it due to a pc format, I had days of trying to get a replacement. The developer told me I should have kept a software backup. Nobody keeps downward backups these days. The software itself is also really dated & crashes often.

Probably your best work yet. The Citizen Kane of RUclips Content!
Or maybe Citizen Kane is the "DELANCLiP Head Tracking Hardware" of cinema. Ever thought of that, eh?

could you make an offset for the headset clip? that way you can adjust the offset till it's tracking like it's centered on your head

Delanclip for me it's the BEST tracking system !! Better than trackir
It's certainly got a very good reputation, especially for not breaking.
This thing is around 90$ with shipping to the US.... Id rather get a track IR for a bit more
I think that's fair. This clip is more durable than the track IR one, but the track IR camera is improved and you get to use their software.
