The BBC anchor was displaying blatant neo-colonial thinking: never mind that the people of Singapore are MORE prosperous than their peers in the West, due in large part to Singapore's government; never mind that the people of Singapore are MORE happy and MORE satisfied with their governments than their Western counterparts. In the mind of the modern neo-colonialists, so long as Singapore does not adopt Western institutions it will be inferior.

When I was young, I used to look at America as the land of heaven. American as the smartest people in the world. I studied so hard and then I immigrated to America only to realize that America is 20 years slower than Asia in term of culture, public infra structure, and education. I could easily get A+ in my college courses and yet I heard about a lot of young Americans complain about how hard were the courses. Americans are lack of compassion and courtesy toward each other. Their society is money talk. Children have no respect toward elders, teachers, and parents, everything seems to go down into drain.

The Western system of one person one vote (universal suffrage) often elects incompetent or even irresponsible leaders.
There are countless examples of incompetent leaders being re-elected.
If the purpose is to choose the most popular characters or idols, the Western one-person-one-vote system may be a good method.
But choosing a national leader is very different from choosing an idol. It is to choose who has the ability to govern the country well.
However, the common people generally do not understand politics, or have no interest in politics, and they generally lack the ability to distinguish who is able to govern the country.
The result is that whoever controls public opinion will win the election.
The two prerequisites for winning an election are a lot of campaign money and media support (manipulation of public opinion). In the real society, it is the consortium and the enterprise group that owns these two (funds and media).
The electoral system in the West will eventually evolve into a capital-controlled country, and elites/politicians will become puppets of capital.
The ultimate goal of the West is capital control of the world, which explains why the US is so aggressive in promoting Western electoral system all over the world.
The West declares that its system is a "democratic system" and labels all countries that do not implement Western-style elections as "authoritarian/totalitarian countries".
Regrettably, some people who advocate the Western electoral system blindly believe in the West (brainwashed). Treat all countries without Western-style elections as "authoritarian/totalitarian".
We should be open-minded about the method of selecting leaders, and we should not regard the western-style election(universal suffrage) as the only option.
If the ultimate goal is elite rule, then meritocracy(任人唯贤) is more likely to achieve the goal of elite rule than the Western-style election.

Prof Kishore is always an outstanding and most knowledgeable lecturer and learner in our current history and modern world, and not only in Singapore but to the rest of Asia. He is also one well favourite permanent representative being picked by the late founding prime minister Mr. Lee Kuan Yew representing Singapore for Washington and United Nations in our early years. He speaks with sense and truth about today’s West and East of the world. During this interview with BBC, we could see that the interviewer is simply insular and refusing to admit that Asia has already become dominant than the western countries particularly USA and UK, for the economic and political significance and situations of the world. I shall also say more to add on is that today’s western countries leading by both USA and UK are still obstinately refusing to face the reality about Asia’s leading and lifted power.
Personally, I am always interested to learn anything from Prof Kishore’s lessons and thoughts about development and situation changes on globe 👍🙏👏😀

There's 2 countries that learned China's model of Confucian-Socialist Republic with Meritocracy and adapted it into their own unique versions: Vietnam and Rwanda. Since then both countries' economies grew exponentially; especially Rwanda, it's now the safest country in Africa that's prosperous with a stable society. I'm not saying China's model is the best, but it's been proven to be the most efficient system that works wonders in China, that means there's something for everyone to learn a thing or two from and make improvements on your own country's system. But the West is just too arrogant for that. Clearly the Western leaders do not care about the people. Especially the USA, "Of the people, by the people, for the people" is nothing but an empty slogan.

From ten Lacs (one million) barrels of oil use daily presently, our decision to shift to Electric mobility, its guaranteed to reduce to one Lac (100,000) barrels daily by 2025 & further to 10,000 barrels by 2030.

The precient, hopeful observations and hard work coming from socioeconomic thinkers across the Asian continent in its slow but steady process of liberation is nothing short of beautiful. I could sit and listen to people like Kishore, Malala, and Vijay Prashad pontificate all day; their regional accents are musical, their delivery joyful, and they speak liberating truths which are the head of the hammer breaking the chains of the longstanding imperialist geopolitical order.
