the origin effects bassrig super vintage. i have an svt2, but i got tired of carrying an amp with 40kg to small venue gigs. the origin effect with a fender rumble 800 and 2 fmc cabinets replaced my huge and heavy svt tower recently. and i am totally happy.
I loved my Noble, but I sold it and chose the Caveman BP-1. My third choice is the Xotic BB preamp V2 (the orange pedal with white knobs) for guitar. It has +/- bass and treble, 30 db clean boost, an overdrive, and can be run at a higher voltage for more headroom.
I've tried just about everything. My favorite was the Alembic F-2B coupled with Alembic SF-2. Then i got the Caveman BP1. Haven't used the Alembic in 6 months. BP-1 is phenomenal. And awesome, Gregor, "...just do stuff..." Too funny!...
Sounds really brillant and the send and return option is smart. Somehow it is always a matter of budget. I am still satisfied with my MXR M 81 Bass preamp. You can not compare them. The caveman is in another league.
This pedal is far beyond what I need but it does sound beautiful. Despite all the amazing gear that’ is out there, credit to the player as I could listen to Phil Rhem all day. So, I subbed to his channel. Thanks for your videos Gregor they are always interesting, informative and enjoyable.
This is the perfect preamp for me. Kinda hard to acquire one when u live in the USA. I know i could order one, wait a while for it then pay all the duties and tariffs on it upon delivery, but i wish Caveman could set up a dealer for the US. I want one really bad .
Love your gear reviews. Im in the market for a bass pre amp that's more of an all in one solution with a DI, a solid eq, compression, 2 channels, built in tuner, distortion, aux in, and a headphone in as well. Other fxs and features would be a nice bonus but not necessary. Would you guys be open to doing a best of type review video on the GK Plex, Trace Elliot Transit B, and any other pre amps that are similar? That would be awesome 😊
Not sure if you will pick this up but I have a question. Can you explain the benefit of having the effects loop after the input buffer, but before the preamp? I’m not sure I understand why you would do that! Thanks.
Stupid question: does it make sense to place the BP1 Compact in front of your pedalchain if you're using the Amp Out, not the Loop? I run a wet-/dry-setup with a loop switcher and changing signal paths that wouldn't really work in an effects loop. My thought was to use the BP1 or BP1 Compact in front of everything, take its clean DI signal to mix it in, and run the Amp Out into my board that splits into the Origin BassRigs as effected signals.
Hi Gregor! A couple of years ago you said that all bass players should get the WR Goliath. Now it seems we should get the BP1 instead. They're about the same price. How do they compare, and which one would you pick? Both? 🙂 It's getting expensive.....
Hey guys, can this work in place of a pedal with cab sims on it? Or maybe they should be run together? Is that overkill? I’m currently using an orange bass butler, but I love the sound of this. Thanks. Y’all are my favorite gear review channel.
Hi. On the Caveman site it is in specs that the jack amp out is transformer balanced, but you say (around the mark 4:30) that you don`t get juicy transformer output when used before amp.. So now I am not sure how it is..
@@basstheworldofficial I was just unsure whether it wasn`t some evolution between batches or what.. Meanwhile I checked it (among some other questions) with Mr. Skrydstrup via e-mail and he confirmed, that indeed both outputs - DI and amp out jack - are transformer balanced.
At the risk of seeming like an idiot...but is this something that would bring any benefit for a player using a modeler in a live setting? Say a Quad Cortex or Axe Fx?
What's your favorite bass preamp?

DSM Humboldt Bass Station is my secret weapon...
And my dream
Love mine, dual effect loops and a LPF on one is a dream.
Sounds killer, i would love it in my setup but cannot justify that price
The Shift Line Olympic is my favourite preamp. Good amount of features and even greater sound!
How about comparing the tone with and without the preamp while playing the same bassline?
I bet you this is like the Noble, so transparent you can't even tell it's on!

I mean I would get the BP1 compact... but now I saw the BAS1 rack unit and now I'm thinking I might not need two kidneys... 🤣
The JadFreerAudio Capo preamp is worth checking out!

ich will mehr von diesem Phil hören!

Huh, on Reverb it's being sold for $700+ used in exellent condition.
Thanks for review!
Any pre amp is amazing for gregor kkkkkkkkk cheers my friend i love you channel since the beginning
Absolutely not, this here is truly special
I own one and love it !!!!!!
same here
Only used de ashdown orgin DI, great pedal!
YAY FOR GREGOR
Need a comparison between with the unit turned off so we can tell exactly what it's doing.
It doesn’t have an off switch, only a mute
they have that on the Caveman audio channel
@@basstheworldofficial reamp a track?
This preamp seems to have a good quality of high eq.
This preamp is killer...! and I was just wondering if it is good for guitar as well..? what do you think?
Definitely
Not sure if you will pick this up but I have a question.

Thanks.
The preamp is capable to produce a lot of volume, too much for pedals in some settings
How does it compare to tube preamps like KHAN?
Just get this.
Hey Guys. Love the channel

Both are incredible, but very different flavors. For me personally a Neve based preamp like this is the most important recording tool

Depends on what you want. The Bass Butler is very different. Nice to have both I guess 😉
Better DI than my SWR Engineering amps from the early 90"s?
Most definitely

I’d assume they’re more right than me 🤷♂️

I have a Lehle RMI Basswitch IQ DI, what do you think about , it have a decent di/preamp?
It’s very functional and very high quality, but I always felt it sounds a bit cold
yeah I understand what you mean , thank you man.
At the risk of seeming like an idiot...but is this something that would bring any benefit for a player using a modeler in a live setting? Say a Quad Cortex or Axe Fx?
Basically yes, but it defeats the logic of a 1-pedal-for-everything logic, at least for me
👍👍👌
great content, but wrong T-Shirt 😉
