A friend is restoring an old OLD Volare wagon and we’re working on a playlist for when it’s done. Absolutely HAVE to include this song! Tripped upon your podcast and I’m hooked!! Will subscribe. P.S. I’m all in with Anthrax on this one They did it right and respectfully. Mwah!!!

This is crazy I’m 50 and never knew that this was a cover. I saw them play this on the Clash of the Titans tour back in the day. Both are great ones more of the punk sound and the other thrash, my two favorite sounds. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

I had a friend share the Anthrax version with me. I told him that it was a cover and I shared the original with him. He was amazed. Even though I like Anthrax’s version, I still love Joe Jackson’s version better. ✌🏼💖

I love the bass playing on Joe Jackson's version. The two versions surprisingly aren't that different, despite the style of the two artists - and both are great! Amazingly, the live version from Joe's "Live 1980-86" is faster, and sounds even more like the Anthrax version.

The live version that JJ does is astonishingly frenetic.

The recordings he'd done with the original JJ Band still are my favourite Joe Jackson ones 😊 Been to their show here in Wellington/NZ when they were touring the 'Volume 4' album, and it was a great night! 😀👍 Already 20 years ago now! 🤯

I love both but I definitely prefer the original as Joe Jackson shows were among the most energetic... and the bass playing from that era was phenomenal af.

Joe Jackson live was the best show I've ever seen (1980). Graham Maby is phenomenal on bass.

Funny. I grew up with Joe Jackson's version. I was a teenager in the late 70's early 80's so that's why. Both versions are great.

The " Look Sharp " Album is a Gem , which got played to destruction ( Had to buy it again , Drunk Punks at Parties Cahh )
Always liked Joe Jacksons writing ! The Opening line for " Is She Really Going Out With "
"Pretty Women Out Walking With Gorillas Down My Street " were they listening ??
I cant say Ill be rushing out and purchasing any Anthrax ,
But Joe Jackson "Live " is faster than Anthrax so mmmmm
JJ gets my vote ! Cheers

I've never heard the Anthrax version! I'm surprised that I like it! They really did Joe justice with this cover. Love their guitar work, especially the bass.

What a fantastic cover made by the band that also remade "Bring the Noise" by Public Enemy, a very metal like Joe Jackson song! Anthrax Rules!

Jack Sonni of Dire Straights has popped his clogs now.
I would suggest Dire Straights, Solid rock.
PS there were rumours of Dire Straights and Chris Rea joining forces to do an album together. Apparently, it was to be called Dire Rea. It never happened. Probably, they thought it might have been crap.

Oh wow! I had no idea this Anthrax version existed! 😄 Pretty amazing! 😃 What I _don't_ like about it: That the rhythm guitars have more low frequencies than the actual bass! 😅 Otherwise very well done, and still faithful to Joe's original, too 😊👍 Which I still do prefer, though! His style has always been more my cuppa than Hard 'n Heavy stuff 🙂 And Chris: Good ears, mate! 😄 The Anthrax version is indeed lower, albeit by only a half-step! 😀 Presumably because of bass and guitars being tuned down 🙂

That's the most animated I've ever seen Chris, he seemed to like both versions... And why not? I guess it will come down to which version you are use to, and for me, that's Joe's.

I could suggest Among The Living, Only (with second vocalist John Bush, Armored Saint), Imitation Of Life and In The End.
Saw Anthrax saying that the Joe Jackson"s live version actually are faster than the Anthrax version

Anthrax has got the time from this stinky old rotten punk rocker my mate's band opened for them and Metallica next band opened for Janes addiction ..... Joe Jackson has that classic 70s Punk vibe that's hard to ignore

Being completely honest , I didn’t even know the Anthrax version existed till this morning , it’s not as bad as I feared and I did like the bass tone , but I can’t be doing with Anthrax , just not my thing tbh …
On reflection it’s not difficult to say I prefer the JJ version . Big Compliment to JJ though .

Of course I have to go with Joe here. But the Anthrax version is good too. The great Graham Maby on bass for Joe is amazing as always. Why did I think Metallica also did a version? I didn’t think Anthrax’s version had more energy per se, just heavier and harder.
