    Advantage of air pump is original cost verses submersible with all the bells and whistles is a lot less .Air pump will outlast a submersible at least 2 to 1.
    The air pump will continually clean the sediment in the well.Down side is.
    Electricty cost to run a compressor verses a submersible will be higher .
    However I feel you could easily use solar panels to run a small compressor for a 60ft deep well that requires roughly 2.5 cfm at 17 psi ,depending on compressor,under load should be under 3 amps.
    When you pump deep wells cfm could reach 10 cfm at 125 psi,so running amps at 110 would be roughly 12, however that size compressor should be run on 220 ,so amps will be cut in half roughly.
    My opinion is air lift pumps do have a place in grand scheme of things.
    We are in a state of flux currently as it pretains to pumping a water well.From the maintenance standpoint i like the air pump,having changed many leathers sucker rod's etc on windmills and jerked a fair share of plugged or worn out submersibles.

    Thanks for summarizing and explanations. But I'm struggeling a bit with the advantages and disadvantages. It says that there are 50-70% energy savings. Is it compared to another pump system (rotary pump?) and what is the value, L/hr/W? Because on the other hand the disadvantage is that the efficiency is very low. Is the efficiency not measured in L/hr/W (output/input) as well, compared to other pump systems?

    If well is sealed from top the air lift pump can be used like a kerosene stove and thus constant required air pressure once given air compressor can be stoped and to stop water lifting air valve can be released so as to reduce air pressure. This system can be used in small/huge water tank also with non-return valve at the inlet of water. Is it possible? If so try the same on experimental basis.
