    Could you further expand on how you constructed your flip up passenger seat? Another video of the details would be amazing! I think it is awesome and would love to make something similar. Where to drill the holes/ screws used etc...???

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  4 года назад +4

      Screw pack is linked up in the description and at 21:28 there is a picture/diagram of where the holes go and which screws I used in each hole.
      1 - Cut the wood with a jigsaw by drawing a line around the seat while the seat is placed on a 1x8
      For all the screws I just lined up the size of the screw with a drill bit that was the same size and then once I drilled the main hole I used a larger bit and drilled in reverse to create an inset for the screw head so they would be level with the wood
      2 - Holes for the seat - for the holes to attach the seat to the wood I dusted some chalk in the holes of the seat and then laid it on top of the wood and slapped it so the chalk made marks on the wood were I needed to drill holes to attach the seat
      3 - For the holes that you put the stabilizing screws you just place the wood piece on the back rack and drill upward through the holes in the rack (I would use a couple clamps if you have them to make sure it stays in one spot)
      4 - Drill holes for the para cord and cut what you need and loop it through the wood
      5 - Attach the seat to the wood with the screws
      6 - Put the seat on the rack and make sure everything lines up and then attach the pipe clamps to create the hinge
      7 - tie the paracord the correct distance that you want seat to lean back
      8 - I screwed a small square piece of scrap wood to act as a spacer between my child seat and the wood base (you can see it in the video) so that the exposed screws wouldn't damage my child seat
      Done :-)

    Thanks for making this video Ben! I continuously come back to it as I slowly upgrade my RadRunner. I have bought the front rack, a hafny mirror, & the Amazon basket + net.
    I bought the center container & you are right. It’s bulky and can be annoying, especially when I take my bike upstairs 😭But I like that I can put my phone down for the map & no one can see what I have in it.

    I know all about that. I did the trailer thing too and now both are too big for it. Living in a hilly area too and that can be more challenging than I'd want. It may cost a bit, but I'm guessing you can add gears to it assuming the frame is the same as the current Rad Runner 2.
    The RadWagon was a bit scary for me to ride with the kids. Just a bit long and heavy for me in the areas I ride. Also be careful, if there's even a slight slope to the side the center stand isn't secure. My kids almost fell. Luckily I was close by next to them when the whole bike was tilting over.

    Great video. Thank you for sharing. Pls show how you use the locks in a future video. I have the (2) New York Cinch (formly noose) for three bikes (Runner, Rover and mini step thru) and I struggled locking inside the the locking triangle on the Runner with the plastic passenger package guard. Thanks again.

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  4 года назад

      Thanks! I normally use the Noose with my Rad Wagon, but when I've used it on the Runner I had the child seat on, so I just used the tubing right above the battery, basically below the bike seat - put the noose around the bike lock and then lock the padlock straight to the tubing.

I build a similar hinged platform for my passenger seat (based off this video) about a year ago so that I could swap between it and my daughter's Yepp child seat quickly. Thanks for the review! I am going to buy my wife either the rad runner plus or the radwagon. Since you have basically the two I’m looking at which do you think would be best for her while riding our 3 year old? Do you think they would perform the same with a kid on the back? Do you think the wagon is too large? After this review I greatly value your opinion. Thanks so much!!!

    • @BenLandersMedia

    Super helpful review and parts list. I would add a couple things:
    1) Tribit StormBox Micro bluetooth speaker is smaller, cheaper, more portable than the JBL, and has shockingly good sound.
    2) Controller / Display upgrade doubles your amps, which basically doubles your torque for going uphill. Not much added speed, but the extra torque is great for climbing, passing, and clearing busy intersections.

    Do you have any suggestions for a radrunner plus set-up for putting a kid on the back that is 5 years old (too big for Yepp seat) that is similar to the caboose for the radwagon (I would like to get the radrunner over the radwagon if I can). Thanks!

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  3 года назад

      Closest thing I've got is this amzn.to/3huk4Jm , but at that point you might as well just put the handle on and rock the passenger seat that comes with it. I have put my 6 year old daughter on the actual bike seat and ridden on the passenger seat with her in front of me (if you're short that won't work) There is probably something out there but I haven't seen it

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  3 года назад

      I think it really just depends where your riding and how busy the traffic is in the area. I have ridden with my 6 year old on the cushion around the neighborhood and on greenway trails, but wouldn't take her on big roads with heavy traffic
      She also like riding on the seat and then I sit on the pad with my arms around her - I probably wouldn't do this on heavy trafficed roads either though

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  4 года назад

      There wasn't an option when I was looking, but I think I would have still gone with the Runner - of course gears and the display would be nice, but I don't find them that necessary for what I'm using it for. It really just depends on where your riding and what you want eg.) if you are going to upgrade and get the fenders, passenger pack, display anyway then it makes more sense to just go ahead and get the plus, if that stuff doesn't matter as much to you then the Runner is an awesome bike with a big payload and lots of versatility.

      It really just depends on how steep the hill is (and also what your payload is - if I'm solo it's alot easier than if my wife is riding or even my oldest kid) , if it's a slight incline no problem, but if it's a steep hill like a 45 degree angle it's gonna be really tough - I can get through the hills in my area, but the steeper ones, I just normally avoid and find another route

    It went together easily in less than an hour. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

    Can you still attach your bike trailer on this bike?

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  3 года назад

      We got rid of ours, but I've seen others do it. One of the motivations for the E-Bike purchase for us was not having to use the trailer anymore

    How do people ride with out knowing how far you travel or how fast??? Can't do it and rad runner plus is kinda ugly and way over priced with no upgraded motor .it's a pity to me rad can't seem to get it together for me .thanks for the review

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  3 года назад

      You can upgrade to an LCD display for $99 if that's important to you, it is definitely nice seeing the mpg and distance for each trip

    • @patrickkerns2022

      @@BenLandersMedia thank you not only that but most displays offer the unlock of the speed limit of 20 mph so i want it to also unlock that and at least go up to 28 mph .would that be possible with the upgraded display???thanks for the reply

    Sounds like the electric motor is worthless on a hill ! He said he really had to work for it ! What ?

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  3 года назад

      Lol, it's not a motorcycle, which before I had the bike was kind of my expectation - so yes you will actually have to pedal this bike

    • @BenLandersMedia
      @BenLandersMedia  2 года назад

      Lol, the motor works fine IMO so I haven't even looked into that, I'm guessing that would be about half the price of the bike tho?

      @BenLandersMedia  3 года назад

      😂 more like 300, but yea definitely want to budget for some upgrades (or don't if you don't care about any of them.)
      I felt part of the fun was customizing your ride with all the upgrades you want - I honestly felt I was being pretty conservative compared to a lot of the souped up bikes I've seen in the facebook group

    Don’t ride 2 adults on a bike. The spokes will become weak and break over time very fast

      The whole reason we went with the bike was the cargo capacity of 300 lbs so we could go doubles if we had a chance
