I love the experimental angle of this whole album, heard it described as 'too long' and 'messy' but i wouldn't change a thing and i don't think they would either!

The highest compliment I can pay this song is that I got the album today and listened to the whole fabulous thing, and thing after 2+ hours spanning six sides, when it ended this was the ONE song I played again. Why? not sure! It's not the best on the record. It's kinda great tho. Yup.
interesting that they cleaned up the lyrics. maybe back in the 80s it was too risky to do anything but Just Say No. Hmmm, there were lots of versions. First recorded 1951 but maybe was around before then? [20 February 2023] A daring cover, to be sure. And I appreciate the reggae sound they bring to (what was originally) an old American blues song (apparently first written and recorded by James Waynes in 1951. But I must confess, I don't think it can hold a candle to Doctor John's version - off his 1972 album DOCTOR JOHN'S GUMBO - which, for me, will always be the definitive version. It's somehow loucher, looser and greasier than the Clash could ever be.

@@stephencarey2354 I agree...I mean it's a very good Punk Rock album, but I liked I think Give Em Enough Rope was way better...My favorites are definitely Sandinista, London Calling and Combat Rock...all three are unique masterpieces
