Ruth, thank you for all of the inspiration, and of course for your lovely chattiness as always. I will definitely join your MAL and I'm sure so many others will too. I love how open-ended it is, plus the nice long time we have, and I look forward to seeing everyone's projects. Like you, I also bought 52 Weeks of Socks and also haven't knit a single thing from it, so that will be my main MAL goal. Also that Grassland Tee: so gorgeous, so I might join you in knitting that, as well. Thanks!
I'm here because of Jackie at Croch80HD, and I'm so glad! 😊 I've enjoyed your enthusiasm and excitement about your future knitting projects! Can't wait to see your final pieces! 😊❤
Hi Ruth , it's easy to see how end up down a rabbit hole with all your lovely books. I love your Podcasts and you get so excited about yarn, projects etc too. I remember being like that as a child, I'd rush to our local yarn shop after school to get some wool with m6 picked money, loved looking at all the colours and types of yarn. My Nana taught me to crochet when young, I used to make grann6 blankets. My mum taught me to knit and we were akso taught at school. I have a few projects to choose from for your "Dusteemofmal/kal" . I met Jess from Gibger Twist at tge recent Tanglee yarn show in Galashiels., I bought a skein of her gorgeous yarn to make a shawl . Thanks again Ruth, take care Xx
I look forward to joining in the MAL -- great idea to work through books and patterns that have already been purchased. I love your podcast - you will smiles and joy!! (Dawn)
Lovely Make Along to inspire my craft jo back. So many patterns on my bucket list, it will be difficult to choose. Thank you for sharing your patterns.
What lovely flip through all those books. Love the ones you plan to knit for the MAL. The combo of the petrol colored yarn with the lace weight blue-green is fabulous and a nice compliment to the name of the pattern, Grasslands. BTW, love the color that you chose for your wall. Take care, dear Ruth, and look forward to hearing from you again, soon.
I love this idea for a MAL! I have a huge collection of books for a large variety of arts and crafts and I used to tell my friend that it was going be my New Year’s resolution to make at least one thing from every book. We had a good laugh and I may need a lifetime to complete this goal but this will be motivation to start so than you!
So glad I found your channel Ruth. I love your projects, yarn choices and book chat. Can't wait to watch more episodes. Best wishes from a Canadian knitting podcaster!
Okay, drooling about that Latvian shawl! Too funny that I am starting a pattern by Martin Story in Rowan At Home Magazine. Love the yarn color for the lovely tee you are casting on. Just finished my second mindless, I mean mindful shawl😉
Ruth, I nearly fell off my chair when you started talking about Marie Wallin .... I've just bought the book AND the yarn to make the Cherish sweater!!! Planning to start it late summer as an "Autumn Quest", so happy to do a knit along with you if you fancy!
Love the extra podcast and what a joy to spend more time with you. I have a scraps blanket to crochet for charity and wound my magic balls at the weekend so now I am all ready for the off on Saturday. Thank you so much for extending the MAL. I can make even more things! ❤
yes, i love to put projects together. the right bag for the right project, the needles, the yarn it's such fun. And of course sometimes things need to be reshuffled but that's fun too. I am looking forward to the MAL! Especially now that I too have got my knitting room sorted out and rearranged.
Enjoyed seeing all your books. I have so many patterns I haven’t made yet. So many possibilities! I’m working on a short sleeve dk sweater right now. I used to think it was odd to have a sweater with short sleeves. I wear them a lot now!
After listening to you, I went down my own rabbit hole. I downloaded 9 patterns from my Ravelry library, some as old as 10 years! And I haven't even started looking at any of my books yet. I also have a cross stitch pattern that I have had for a few years that should get worked on, but it will require purchasing a piece of linen. I am looking forward to jumping into this MAL with both feet (or should I say both hands).
Oh, this is exciting. I’m gonna pull out my to fandom knitting books and see what I can get done. I also have a few shows I want to net and I specifically have already got bought the yarn for them.
Hi Ruth! I ordered the shawl book but here it’s called 52 Weeks of Scarves🤔Hmmmmm. I can’t wait for it to come even though I have SO many knitting books. When you said you gave some away I thought, “Which ones could I say bye bye to?” Great podcast again! You’re the best! ❤
You and I will need to live into our 120s to knit all we want. I too “want” to knit from stash, but that order from Wool Wearhouse just popped into the house! 😂
Really enjoyed that chat ,,Ruth,,, Lots of inspiration for the mal,,, I don't have any knitting books ,,,magazines,,yes,,, But lots of patterns in my ravelry I haven't knit,!!! Going to join you all,,, Elaine 🏠🏠🌼🌻
What a great to see you here today Ruth. This all sounds so jolly and perfect the longer time scale. Loved your thumbnail 😁. I have had wool and pattern for at least two years so think this could be perfect to kick start me into starting and finishing it 🤭 yay roll on July.❤
I can definitely see why you feel down a rabbit hole, so many gorgeous patterns to choose from. I am also planning to knit a pattern from the 52 weeks of shawls book as I haven’t knit anything from it yet. I thinkI am going to knit Seedling by Paulina Karru as I have yarn in stash that would be ideal 😊
Wow Ruth, you probably have more definite possibilities than I do.😂😂 It's fine. I have a lot of friends who are the same. I think the idea for the MAL is brilliant. Thank you so much for creating it. I'm mainly (99%) a crocheter, but I've been wanting to get back to past crafts, buying a variety of kits alongvthe way, putting out of site, and apparently, out if mind as well. This will be a great opportunity to dig them up and see if I can make some concrete choices.😂 It will certainly be a different and very interesting MAL. Can't wait to see what everyone will be working on. Thanks again!😊
I knit the Yell cardigan by Marie Wallin- it is the most size inclusive garment in her Shetland book. It is knit in the round with steeks (my first) and it worked out wonderfully. I used Jaimeson & Smith Jumper weight. I loved seeing your books. I am going to hunt a few of them down! Also like you I get great use from heavier weight tees. Isabell Kraemer’s Nefeli tee is great for me here in Ontario Canada for probably 10 months of the year.
Hi Ruth! I just completed Betha in the MW book Cherish. I found it a bit easier because of the one background colour. It’s got lots of positive ease and might fit more sizes. I knitted everything with steeks and talked about it in afew of my podcast episodes , last one stuggling a bit with words..(English is not my 1st language😄)
What lovely prizes! I’m happy you extended it to the end of December. Now to decide between one of the first projects O was going to do when I got back into knitting 3 years ago Or one of your favorites, Slip Crazy shawl, I think that’s what it’s called. But I will definitely be participating🎉
The Hiraeth shawl is on my to-do list. It's lovely. It's a Welsh word meaning "a longing for someone/something or homesickness". It's pronounced hee-rye-th. Emphasis on the hee ❤
@ruthlovestoknitpodcast So to clarify, you can knit anything that you purchased the pattern for before July 1? Can it be a wip? I thought you said no wips the first time you mentioned this. Now I’m confused.
Hi Ruth - the Hireath shawl is beautiful - I watch Clare's (the designer) podcast which is also really nice - The Flossi Podcast - you should check it out - she has episodes where she talks at length about that shawl.
Thank you for the podcast. Apologies for the curiosity on my part, but I understand the podcast is coming from Devon I'm just wondering is that where your accent is from? For some reason I hear Scots or Irish...😅❤
i loved the “kid in the candy store” look that you had on your face, looking through all of your books 😊. have a good week! 🧶☀️
It's always a blessing spending time with you and being inspired by your projects ..
Thank you so much!

A lovely surprise to see you this morning Ruth. I am going to make my first shawl for the MAL. The Mindfulness shawl you inspired me to have a go at.
Oh, this is exciting. I’m gonna pull out my to fandom knitting books and see what I can get done. I also have a few shows I want to net and I specifically have already got bought the yarn for them.
Getting ready for the MAL. I have several patterns with yarn already. I must knit some of those. Lol

Your back ground is just right. Sometimes less is more.
Definitely better than my student bedroom background 🤣
Cornwall is having a dull day too. Never mind we've had weeks of sunshine and I'm sure there's more to come 😀
Hi Ruth, I am going to make Tin Can Knits Love note which has been in my stash for over 12 months. Loving your choices xxx
I am also knitting a shawl from the 52 Weeks book, it's the Turnrow and I'm using a very thin linen yarn. Lovely summer knit!
What lovely prizes! I’m happy you extended it to the end of December. Now to decide between one of the first projects O was going to do when I got back into knitting 3 years ago Or one of your favorites, Slip Crazy shawl, I think that’s what it’s called. But I will definitely be participating🎉

Oh love that. Thanks.
Oh my …. Now it’s definitely # it’s my knitting and I’ll cast on if I want to!!! 😂
Hi Ruth. I want to know can I do daimond dott too, I got it and never do it… I want also to knit the Musselburgh hat.
Absolutely. X
@ruthlovestoknitpodcast So to clarify, you can knit anything that you purchased the pattern for before July 1? Can it be a wip? I thought you said no wips the first time you mentioned this. Now I’m confused.
@ruthlovestoknit
I got the Only Yoking book. I want to start something but I already have a sweater, a cardigan, a Ranunculus and 3 summer tops in progress. 😳
Oops I forgot I have another sweater on the go 😳
Just finished my first fairisle sweater by Marie Wallin. It took along time but I love it and learned from it. If I did it so can you!🧶🧶🧶
Oh boy. I will definitely do one at some point x
So many plans, so little time!
Is there a list of rules for the dustemoffmal? I watched the podcast but kept getting interrupted 😂 love ❤️ your podcasts
Not really. Any pattern/any craft as long as you have it before July 1st. Either email me with an FO photo or use #dustemoffmal on Instagram.
