Because it is a separate game and people that rail on this game just don't get that, it's not the same game as the main franchise, it's a spin-off game.
I love how all the planes are eqully useful in multiplayer in Assault Horizon due to its objective based game modes. I cant help its a massive step back in Ace Combat 7 to only have Free-For-All and Team Deathmatch. I feel sad for all the players who favor the A-10 in a game full of F-22s, X-02s, Su-47s and DLC planes all strapped with QAAMs. I miss that days in ACAH online where l escorted A-10s and Fullbacks destroying important ground targets from F-22s and Typhoons

I can’t believe that assault horizon is the most underrated game if the ace combat series. So much hate people give it. Just forget the fact that it’s an ace combat game and just think of it as some air combat game. It’s really a good game. AC just decided to try something different.

I will say that I loved the music from AH, but the gameplay was a bit meh. The story wasn't as charming as the previous games, and I didn't really like the DFM, especially considering it was mandatory.
Matthew Pike I'm kinda hopeful it won't be in 7 at all, but it might be made bearable if it is forced, because the guys who did the story and soundtrack for 5 are doing the story and soundtrack for 7. I could put up with DFM for another masterpiece like that.

Immortality is true eternal bliss. Not existing is impossible to even reflect upon.
The thing about this game is that they didnt stick to the old ace combat games. Instead, they wanted to try something new. In my opinion, they made the story more like a movie to compensate for dfm and if you look at it that way along with the music and graphics, its a pretty fucking good game
With Rio Hamamoto, Keiki Kobayashi, Hiroshi Okubo, and many more Namco composers dear lord that would give me a heart attack of how epic it would turn out.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy is set in a strangereal setting again. See if you like that game. DFM is mandatory on some parts of the AH. Most targets can still be engaged normally with missiles and manual vulcan aim. So I don't see why it's such a bad thing, it's there for the wider audience so if you don't like it then just "chase tails" and fire away classic AC style on most enemies.
Immortality is the worst hell there ever could be. Giving the promise of eternal life is quite literally saying he's going to do the worst punishment anyone could ever recieve. Without death (or any sense of mortality), there is no real motive for living. After all, why do something today if you have an eternity to do it later?
@Shurryy I don't feel like AC6 followed the same formula as the other games at all. It had the same basic setting but had things that detracted from the feel of the other games. Mobius 1 never lost an engagement like the first mission of AC6, and Blaze would never let groups of ground forces get wiped out like what happened all the time in AC6. I wish I still had copies of AC3 and Zero to have references there but I think you get my point.
I don`t get why people are complaining about AC:AH`s changes to Ace combat. I mean they had to change something or else only fans of the game would have bought it. They were trying to bring in new fans to Ace Combat with something new and innovative. DFM Is a great addition to the Ace Combat series. I have played every Ace Combat ever made And THIS one may not have the best story BUT it has the best gameplay. So remember this one was made for EVERYONE not just fans.

Just imagine flying your F-22 into battle against alien fighter craft and taking out a giant mothership by launching the 'tactical' nuke into it's core. Like a one off branch from any significant story just for the lulz.

@Shurryy No, the changes weren't revolutionary. But what they did change they probably shouldn't have. They made every mision 20+ minutes with an add-on objective at the end and I think they tried to combine the story from AC4 with animation from AC5 and it failed horribly in AC6.

i do see your point, i liked the game but i believe if DFM was a bit more optional so it added a bit more of the simulator feel the older games did, then it could appeal to newer and older audiences a bit better. I did really like this game but eh i just think it hasn't got past its predecessors IF you compare them in the same way, if this was not part of the ace combat franchise and was just a stand alone flight game i think people would look at it a lot better...

@TheOBXMULE well i heard that they are gonna remake the Ace combat 04 series i dont know if its true but thats awesome AC04 is D second best ace combat for me the first one is Ac03 since its the first one i got and it has fictional aircrafts
@MrDeath808 A remaster of AC 4, 5 and the Belkan war in HD for Xbox and PS3 would be cool i WILL buy it hahaha to relieve those good old memories

i do see your point, i liked the game but i believe if DFM was a bit more optional so it added a bit more of the simulator feel the older games did, then it could appeal to newer and older audiences a bit better. I did really like this game but eh i just think it hasn't got past its predecessors IF you compare them in the same way, if this was not part of the ace combat franchise and was just a stand alone flight game i think people would look at it a lot better...

yeah thats why Ace Combat: AH got so much good rating from game critics and gamers -__-
