The grille is riveted in place?!? Aye dios mio! My buddy's Lucerne needs a new hood latch switch and I was hoping I could just pop the grille out to get at the latch. I had to pry the bumper loose previously just to be able to remove one of the headlights. Such a PITA design!! Same buddy used to have an 06 Impala, and the front bumper cover was clearly repaired by the previous owner in the method you were going to try. IMHO, you made the right call by just replacing the bumper. One little bump, and that repair would've just cracked and peeled apart and you'd be right back in the same boat..
Yes, one on each side, I just put small screws on its place. Working great. Yes replacing the bumper was quite the job of getting it back on. And I don't want to do is again any time soon. Thanks
