I played here in 1995, 2000, and 2012. This is, without a doubt, my favorite course. The town is quaint and has fine shops, pubs, and restaurants. I highly recommend staying at the Lehinch Lodge, which is where I always stay when visiting. It is a great B&B with views of the course and walking distance to the town.

I thought the first hole was near the seaside of the club .You seem to be around the other side of the clubhouse

My mistake .I've just watched your video .It seems I've been coming to Ireland for 50 years and thinking the third was the opening hole . Question why didn't the club pro play in the open as he seemed to play a great round

The length of the grass off the fairway is killer.

Great course! Shame that the tournament name is the "Dubai Duty Free Irish Open"...sounds tacky and not in keeping with the quality of the courses it uses. Last year the French Open was sponsored by a Chinese conglomerate (HNA)... are their no local national businesses big enough to sponsor these national open tournaments?? Why is the European tour seeking sponsors from outside Europe? Have a little pride, Ireland... there are 150,000 golf club members in Ireland...a euro a week for 1 year from each member would raise 7 million Euros (8.7 million dollars) which is far more than the 7 million dollar prize fund offered this year. The "Irish Open" is all the name that the tournament needs...imagine your own Irish professionals playing for a prize fund that their own countrymen had put forward? Same goes for the UK events sponsored by BMW (British PGA). At least the British Masters chose Betfred for their sponsor. Suspect the Irish CEO of Dubai DUty Free (Colm McLoughlin) is the reason... but if you are going to use non-Irish companies, better use one that is directly related to your nation eg. "Guiness (Diageo) Irish Open"... but nothing better than the nation of golfers themselves.

Played there in May, as well as Waterville, Tralee, Ballybunion, Old head and Adare. Had caddies at all courses and the caddie at Lahinch was 14 years old. He had no strategy at all and I am sure was not a golfer ( useless). Every other course we had a caddie ( not because we wanted one but had to in most cases including Lahinch) at least gave you some course knowledge. I understand you have to have some game, my handicap is 8 so not newbie but he had no idea other than he wanted a ham & cheese for lunch. Some holes are blind so needed advice but no. Not impressed with Caddies. Would have been more enjoyable to know what was over the hills
