Playing psp on this is crazy. This is the absolute last system I would ever want to play psp on. That being said it’s a lovely GBA device. I really love the design of this one
I would absolutely agree that is a wise choice. The previous model was problematic out of the box but no where near this. I will say by installing onion OS on the previous model made it a fantastic device. This unfortunately was a major letdown. Thanks for checking out the video
Looks like the most premium mini handheld yet, no rattly buttons, all buttons are soft and quiet, nice attention to design, nice ergonomics. The minis from anbernic and trimui all fail one or more of those, usually rattly or clicky buttons not to mention laxk of analog stick
The build quality is excellent and great is you want it to play retro gaming stuff. It still kinda falls short when emulating the harder to run stuff. Either way it's not the worst thing to grab I'm still hoping for a software upgrade in the future to fix some of the issue.
@@pinkandbluebloxplayers3320 only if someone experienced enough takes existing code, cuts corners here and there and writes another superfast emulator for what doesn't play well. This cpu can't do much more imo. The Saturn in example has 8 processors, that's pretty hard to emulate whatever you do. N64 is more light than that but nowadays developers aim at higher minimum standards than this.
It's hard to get alot of these systems emulated but the way it's going a few more years an we'll get things like the Saturn up and running on these little devices
Personally I'd say if you're wanting to run earlier systems like playstation 1 and below you'll have no problems with spruce OS and a 128gb card. I wouldn't bother with it if Dreamcast an psp are systems you want to run on it. You'd be better off spending a bit more and getting something else, but of it's.just the retro systems you'll have A great time.
The only system from the DS era is the original DS. I believe lord of the rings came out on the original DS. It may be able to run it however Ive not tried
Thank you for watching. It really threw me off considering all of these systems tend to run PS1 and below so easy. It was a shame because the Miyoo Mini is a fun little system that I loved back last year
The SoC inside is a bit old for dc, psp. That's a quad core A7, don't expect miracles. An A53 at same freq will outperform it easily. Still ordered one for 30€ bcz i love the small form factor. About ps1 you should try pcsx rearmed, 99.9% will run full speed. It even runs full speed on a single core snapdragon s2, 2012 htc desire hd. I believe with some tinkering it could run some simpler psp games too in standalone ppsspp (if that's an option).
Yeah it's a fun little for factor. I'm hoping the next iteration that comes out will provide a chipset that will be able to handle PSP and Dreamcast. Is such a shame because I heard that the systems were coming out for the A30 so I thought that they would have put a chipset in there to handle it. Fingers cross the next one that comes out will be better.
Doesn't run psp games well?? Chuck it in the bin! Kidding. Honestly a nice little system. Especially for it's price being able to play a few different systems pretty decently - small form factor with the analog stick and portability is alright for what you pay. Fingers crossed for a new os for it to run things better. Thanks for the video!
I was very tempted to chuck the thing in the bin but I am not done tinkering with it yet an it has decent enough systems that I'll probably hold on to it. The stick is definitely a bonus that I personally like. I just wish they would have added to the duel analogue sticks for the PS1 emulation. Hopefully in the future a update to this system will actually fix alot of the nonsense Thanks for checking out the video anyways
RG28XX is much better in terms of performance, but it has small face buttons and insanely loud shoulders. Oh yeah and no stick. I personally like a30 more for it's control and very light weight
I have heard really good things about the anbernic. I need to check out some of their systems. I aesthetically really like the A30 but it feels so half baked that it was a let down. Don't get me wrong if your looking for a great way to play GBA I think you'd definitely find value but for the higher end...... Oh boy it was rough. I would recommend the Miyoo mini plus though
@@DReviewTing anbernic are great, but I don't like their trend of loud af buttons. To me that's so annoying I would rather prefer something half baked like a30 😅 But still miyoo mini/plus is still the best mini handheld with the original rg35xx w/garlic os on it very close. Also imo on a screen like that, heck even on 3.5 inch screen you really don't want to play anything above ps1 and even for some ps1 games the screen is way too small. I'd say if we are on mini console category, we are looking up to gba, that's where our eyes are safer 👀
@vhsretrogamer1664 I am with you. There are people who like loud buttons but it definitely isn't for me. Tbh I don't mind playing Dreamcast and PS1 on a smaller screen but I get what you mean.
@@Anasnasgaming the A30 is pretty good for the value. Its also much easier to put custom firmware on it. Most of the time I just play PSX, GBA, and the nes/sega. Which is already does it well.
I will say I agree with @anasnasgaming if you're looking for a budget device this is definitely worth it for PSX an under. The performance and form factor is fantastic in that respect
Regarding the PS1 speed issue. Are your ROMs PAL, or NTSC? Sorry if you already know, but PAL games run at a lower FPS than NTSC games. So that is a possible source of a bit of perceived slowness.
They're NTSC copies and they're also the same ROM copied over from the original SD card. Its a funny one because it was running at full speed on the original. Thank you for letting me know about the NTSC/PAL versions. I did check after the slow down what ROM was running. Still a bit of an odd one. Thanks for checking out the video too
Yeah I've messed around with the settings since making this video and managed to see some of the settings tweaked. It's still so frustrating though. I dunno why Miyoo didn't put the effort to optimise the software Thanks for checking out the video though
This was a massive let down compared to it's predecessor. The miyoo mini + is a fantastic device and I highly recommend getting that one especially if you want to play anything below PS1. I was so excited to get this and it definitely did not deliver. I will say there are plenty on the market that do a much better job than this. Thanks for checking out the video
The RG35XX H is better slightly bigger but way more power and with MuOS you got portmaster. PSP may not run 100% on all games but much better then the A30 older chip.
I will say that price it's well worth buying. It's just unfortunate that onion OS hasn't come and potentially may not come to the A30. I really am hoping that it does come to the A30 though as that would completely change the game.
In this day and age with how far emulators have come you'd think so but it's really poor. I think the chip they used in the system wasn't optimised at all. I'm still holding out hope that onion OS will be making it's way to the A30 but just gotta hold out with spruce for the time being
I've bought this one just to get a pocketable and cheap device to play some GBA on the streets, very excited to try it out
Excellent. You should be able to run that pretty easy hope you enjoy it
Playing psp on this is crazy. This is the absolute last system I would ever want to play psp on. That being said it’s a lovely GBA device. I really love the design of this one

Wish it had the power of the RG28XX other wise much better overall form.
I'm really really hoping that Onion OS teams will be available for the Miyoo A30 for better performance.
So do I it's a shame the community has to fix these type of issues but it still could be great with a OS upgrade
