It's odd that I've seen claims that the piece is "in C" essentially simply because it ends on that C octave. But the overall chord prior to that last C octave is basically an F7#11 chord, outlining an F lydian b7 scale, minus the 6th. All of that aside though, the F SOUNDS like a tonic, with the last C octave sounding like the dominant.
Also, even though it shows up in different tonal contexts throughout the piece, the G /A \Gb \F motif's "resting place" so to speak is, tonally speaking, 2 3 b2 1. Most of the time it seems like when that motif is stated, there is a strong I/V anchor in the bass giving the notes a flavor of those tonal functions.
Not to mention, the proceeding measures, he keeps emphasizing the low octave C2/F2 4th, which tonicizes F as the center as well.
Man, ALSO, the 8th to last measure (before the final restatement of the opening theme) is basically a Bb9 chord with the 9th in the bass, which resolves very smoothly to F as a plagal cadence.
So, in keeping with Scriabin's stretching and obscuring of tonality in his beautifully unique way, he also ends the piece on what sounds like a dominant, leaving things destabilized once again 😛

….and there is lots of Ab Major in this sonata too! 😉

Fantastic, very well played. Love scriabin's music, the end of tonality like Berg's. It's like staring in the dark and unknown, new horizons. The lighting with red is very fitting the music, so well done!!

Excellent performance! Do you mind doing a Behind the Scenes about how you record the audio, video, setup and post-production?

      Thank you!!
Well, I am lucky with the setup and part of the pp, as @denzhdanovpianist does a lot (including the piano tuning) and I believe he will be making such a Behind the Scenes video soon (maybe on his patreon). I will see what I can do on my channel too🙃

Excellent, but I am not so excited about the grand - the trills sound a bit dull for me - the Kawai sound is not really so thrilling ... surprisingly it is not so apparant in the other sonatas. Great work anyway with your Scriabin recordings, remarkably deepthought

Thank you! Yeah, this beast is sometimes tough when it gets to trills and some other things. 😅
BTW on the @IntertwiningArts channel my team and I will very soon release the late five sonatas on a Steinway - make sure you subscribe to not miss the update! ☺️

Buddy, its not about the gear its about the music. The piece sounds great regardless of what its played on.
