  • At the end of November I made my way to Kyushu to visit the new Tomiyoshi Racing location, and to photograph Miyashita's FD for the upcoming book. This is a car that I've been trying to arrange to photograph for years now, but each instance ended up not working out for a variety of reasons. When the opportunity arose last month, I had to jump on it.
Check out the new shop (a former car dealership), a few of the customer projects, and a walk around of Mi's RX7. When we arrived, the brothers were finishing the final touches on their customers K20 Lotus; a new engine, paddle shifted sequential trans, and Motec ECU were some of the major changes for this season. Shimada's EVO was also present, having just had the engine overhauled.
For more on Miyashita's FD, please look forward to the release of Volume 3 of 80R in the coming week or two.
Information on 80R Volume 1-3 preorder can be found on 80R.co and the main site in the coming week - please check often for updates.

I remember seeing an onboard lap at AutoPolis in their NSX and I was mesmerized by how fast it was through the corners. Awesome shop and thx for the tour.

Similar, most of their top cars utilize paddle shifted sequentials

Fantastic machine, but there's something about that massive rear spoiler.
I've understand that it should go close from the rear coilover, so the down pressure effect should be on top of the axle for balance and better traction. All the way back will affect the front of the car. The axle will be a pivot point pushing the front up, taking away some of the down force .
Porsche, Chevrolet, ferrari , bmw, and now the new Ford Mustang have the rear spoiler mounted on top of the strut or close enough.
    Just an observation

All the cars you listed have to abide by specific rulesets which dictate where the wing can be positioned. Even some time attack classes have rulesets for how far back the wing can be placed.
Generally the higher and further back the wing is the cleaner the air that hits it will be producing more downforce.
