- Hey Horse Lovers! In this video, I'm loading up 4 horses and taking my students out on the trail. I am definitely feeling a bit UNHINGED TODAY LOL. So hopefully this trail ride will go well. I will be leading the way on my forward, gorgeous mare Bagheera. We will ride through the woods, open fields, sand paths, cross the creek, and go up and down hill. You will feel just as though you're riding along with us. I can't wait to bring you out with us on this GREEN, LUSH TRAIL! BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS HOW WILL THIS TRAIL RIDE GO?! WATCH TO SEE! Shae? i'd say "unfiltered" vs "unhinged" . You may miss a beat or two but you guys are always professional and way ahead of mob. Your dedication is remarkable. Kudos
It's so nice to see someone maintain an older horse, like Bagheera, well enough that they can derive such pleasure from a ride together. It's obvious Bagheera loves these excursions. Thank you for proving older horses are worth the time and money to keep them happy and healthy. Far too few people realize the potential older horses bring to them.

Shae you are a fantastic riding tutor, so kind to your students, giving them clear help and instructions in such a non condescending way. And you find time to praise and encourage the horses . And all with a good dose of your lovely sense of humour . It s a pleasure to watch.
What a beautiful day for an exhilarating ride you all had (I came along with you from my couch)! What a great girl Miss Bagheera is! Bagheera is such a beautiful horse, she looks wonderful for her age. I would never guess her to be 30 years old, she looks so fit and her coat is so shiny. ❤❤❤

I love it when you take me on a trail ride. I can hear the leather rubbing against itself and I can literally smell the leather as you’re riding. Thank you for taking me on a trail ride. Bagheera might make it to 50 years of age the way she is riding today.

Have you ever encountered any wildlife while trail riding? If so how do the horses react?🤔
I've been on trail rides and there were quite a few deer and both deer and horses seemed comfortable, neither the horses or deer ran away or got spooked. It was amazing how close we got to the deer, we were in an open area.
Hope you feel better soon. I also suffer with allergies all year long but worse during the warm months.🤧😮💨

Bagheera is seriously hauling ass! 😂 If her trot is that fast, I'd be frightened of her gallop! She's in incredible shape for 30!

Thinking about Bagheera, and how special she really is. I remember the day you bought her. She was not and still is not an "old mare". You knew in your heart, and how right you were. Thanks Shae.
Bagheera is so athletic for her age, leaving the younger lads in the dust behind her because nobody can keep up with grandma! One has to wonder just how fast and durable she was in her younger years, I bet she could have been an endurance champion. Hope you feel better soon Shae.

Bagheera's ears on that trail ride tell a story in itself and it's all her own! That girl had a previous life. Those ears never stopped moving. She was checking out the area with confidence; confidence in herself and confidence in Shae.

Being on a trail ride with you would drive me crazy. Except for your information that the trail falls off on each side every other comment is unnecessary. The riders behind you can see what you are doing and copy.
@@Ginger-w8h Lucky for you (and all of us), you never have to go on a trail ride with her so the judgy comments are unnecessary.
But just FYI I spent my adolescence and early adulthood volunteering and working at dude ranches, summer camps, and all kinds of kids' riding programs. I even completed training and certification for it. It's pretty standard practice to shout out obstacles on the trail and communicate with your riders, especially if you're leading. The fact is the riders behind you *cannot* always see what you're seeing because of rocks, trees, sharp turns, etc. and the warning can be very helpful for navigation. In my trail lines I would have no more than 3-4 riders with my wranglers positioned in between them, because it was very easy to lose sight of the trail line, and I needed my wranglers to help me keep an eye on things. Verbal signals are extremely important on the trail, especially when riding with kids or students, and Shae did everything right.
I love love love that these horses get to enjoy their trail bitless. Thank you Shae for improving their lives.
Every time I hear you say Bagheera is 30 years old I think someone must have gotten her age wrong because there's just no way that sweet girl could possibly be that old! 😂

I think it every time but Bagheera looks /absolutely/ amazing at 30. Her coat gleams with health, her eyes are so bright! Love to see her flourishing as an esteemed older lady. I started riding with older mares so I always feel so happy seeing them loved and living well ♥

Bagheera is a true testament to your amazing care. I cannot believe a 30-year old horse looks as good as she does, and can still perform as well as, if not better than, the younger horses. She's stunningly beautiful and fit!

Bagheera looks like a dream to ride. I love watching the attention with her ears, on you and the trail, back and forth, the sound and rhythm of her hooves and saddle. I absolutely love trail rides can't believe Bagherra is 30 years old! She looks amazing💕 I have a similae horse but but she has a white mark on her head and her name is Raya I trust her with my life shes very gentle and very nice and calm i love her 💗

What a grand ol gal! There were a few moments where she went out of a posting trot into a more extended, faster, even trot. Like a freaking harness racing horse! Bagheera is amazing. Morgans are very hardy, and can live long. Hopefully Bagheera will able to play on the trails for many more years! ❤
We've been having tons of pollen here because of all the rains. I've started washing my face off 4 and 5 times a day just to reduce the amount of pollen on my face!
It's because she does have Standardbred in her!

I also love Shay how you let the students know when you’re riding what position to go in and when and when to trot and canter going up and down the hills, that’s pretty awesome. I do have a question with that horse trail. Is it specifically for the horses or do you guys also have to share for like pedestrians or dog walkers, or bike riders? I never seen one on the trail so I’m assuming no but I wasn’t sure.❤❤❤
Bagheera has such great breeding in her. I hope she got to pass on some of those great traits to some babies. I am also guessing that her previous owners took good care of her too. She was so lucky to land at your stable. Thanks for the wonderful ride!

Seeing how healthy, beautiful, calm and confident Bagheera is bringing back the memory of how you chose to home her. She must be happy to be able to run fast and free, as she seems to have bee born to do, after a long life of just pulling a buggy. What a blessing that you two were brought into each other's lives! Two things. First... how the heck do you ride, film, narrate, and teach all at the same time?! My brain would melt! And second... I found myself mesmerized by Baghera's ears. They were always perked up forward and she constantly scanned her environment. You're right when you say that old girl can MOVE. I can imagine her thinking, "Keep up little boys and I'll show you how it's done".❤😅
The only thing is I wish I could hear their hoof strikes instead of your creaking saddle. Bagheera is still my fave, what a pretty lady.

FABULOUS TRAIL RIDE!!! I ride along in my mind...GREAT DIVERSITY IN TRAILS, HILLS AND TURANE!!! AND YES!!! IT IS GREAT for the horses. People... remember that horses were the backbone of transportation and labor once upon a X... They can handle it with proper care!!! 😊 WISH I WERE HEALTHY and YOUNG AGAIN!!! Hearing the leathers rhythmically squeaking and rubbing gives me so many good memories when we had our horses, working, playing and riding the trails. The view between their ears, the smell of leather, horses and all the things!!🥹 Had my heart horse - a gelded solid, so honest, moustached Black Quarter Horse X Friesian( lived for 39 1/2 years), a forward, flashy gelded Appaloosa X Arab “Chico” (my husband’s), daughter’s papered forward to the point of flying up the hills gelded Dk. Bay Standardbred “Magic” (we rescued from the racetrack), other daughter’s papered so sweet Dark Bay Quarter Horse Mare “Aurora”, our gelded Pinto Welsh Pony “Bill” loved kids so much, our gelded Welsh Cross Pony came with the name Buffalo. So we had Buffalo Bill! Lol. He was a grumpy gus and had very poor, spoiled manners. He took some work to learn how to behave. I haven’t been able to ride for many years now - can barely walk. Waiting on back surgery. Thank you so much for your trail ride video tonight!! It had all the feels!!👏🥰🐎🐴💖💕💕🇨🇦

Years ago, 50+ years ago we would trail ride. We had access to over 750 acres of trails in the town I grew up in from the age of five on into adult hood. What a wonderful and blessed life it was to like what you have there Shay and Michigan just being with friends a gorgeous day to spend together and the best horses that knew the trails and knew what to do. My Arabian and Bagheera are totally twins, jet black shiny coats. He's totally forward and freaking gorgeous as well,,I sure hope he is the same at 30. My guy is 23 and runs the pasture with once a wild Mustang. Both are best buds, Mustang is 3 yrs old, and I got him at 10 months old. Wish I could put their pictures on here. This makes me smile so much! I spent fifty years trail riding. I LOVE the camera perspective, when you are looking down the trail, between the horse's ears. That was my happy place for decades. Our POA appolusa was 32 when he was done, he gave my kids such joy. He loved trail rides, gymkhana and 4-H. He was a jem. Bageria looks like a different horse than when you first got her! Kudos! Love your rides, it feels like I'm riding with you! Love what you do!
