Thanks. I was dancing original MelbourneShuffle from the late 90s into the mid 2000s. I’m just starting to relearn after many years off not being able to move from a car accident. It’s been 13 years since I danced. So relearning slowly.

I believe melbourne is where it all started. Shuffling due to extremely crowded floor? Using minimum space?

I live in Melbourne. I was dancing the MelbourneShuffle from the late 90s into the mid 2000s. Shuffling actually takes up a lot more space on a dance floor than just standing with two feet on the floor and wiggling. The best shufflers danced at parties in warehouses or shed 14. Or at big clubs with lots of room, usually up the back of the dance floor.

@@AmosFamos oh ok. I have no idea, I’m just repeating what I read. It’s evolved and been debauched by the yanks

@@geoffdein2894 have a look at some of the videos I’ve posted so far. Some of the old videos of the MelbourneShuffle and you’ll see that they do back stepping, side kicks, spins, and jumps. They move all over the place. Need a bit of room for it.
You’re right that it’s something different today. There were young guys doing running man to hard style, they heard there was a thing called MelbourneShuffle but may not have seen it, and couldn’t do it, but they were the ones filing themselves for RUclips in 2008 ish.
It’s a weird quirk of fate, that now ppl think Running Man is MelbourneShuffle but it never was. I was doing the original Melbourne shuffle from 98 to 2008 and the first time I ever saw running man was in about 2005. So I’d been shuffling for 7 years by that point.

@@AmosFamos I can only wish I did it. I was way to busy building business to get any free time. Now it’s too late……..although your example probably could be done ok

@@geoffdein2894 you’re right. It used to be the sign of a misspent youth was the ability to play pool, but in my day it was the ability to dance the MelbourneShuffle.
But it’s never too late. I’m relearning after not dancing for 13 years. It’s slow going, but that’s the same as any skill, like skateboarding. I use it as my 20 minutes a day of cardio exercise. It’s full body exercise with good cardio and full body coordination.
