I just got the tall penlight and it’s fantastic. I do like the new tail button over the older pineapples. The seigaiha pattern looks beautiful and is really grippy.

Super helpful video. The main thing that's put me off jumping in on the Pineapple Mini is the battery situation. As a self-confessed amateur, I didn't like that the battery it comes with is unprotected, nor was I sure what charger to get for it given the apparent need to charge them at 0.25a. And the run times were off-putting. The NiMH battery tip in this video is super useful, I confess I hadn't even considered them. Very happy to sacrifice on max outputs to get considerably longer run times, plus easy to source quality NiMH aaa batteries and charger (all safe and protected). That's made my mind up to order one, thanks 👍

I did have one question on the behaviour with NiMH if you don’t mind. Does it last much longer on high mode before starting to step down (of course comparatively lower than with the included battery), or does it step down at a similar rate and then last longer on the lower mode before running out? I guess the crux of my question is what causes the light to start dropping down the lumen scale - is it heat or just a in-built timer? Thanks mate!

I don't have any opinions or anything to add, but I'm leaving a comment for 'interaction' so I keep getting notifications. I'm sure the lights are good; they definitely look very classy.

I wish Rey might consider adding the ability to disable "double tap for shortcut to turbo" in the future. When using H-M-L or L-M-H, the turbo tends to get in the way sometimes.

I have to try some other brands. I've only tried olights so far. Im a knife guy looking to expand my knowledge of flashlights....especially if there are alternatives other than the chinese market. Glad i found you. 😎👊

They look absolutely lovely. Expensive for the spec they offer (same as Olights) but OMG did I mention they are gorgeous?

They are actually really well priced compared to other custom lights. I love these ones

@@flashlightcrazy fair point. different sector for these kind of lights vs eg nitecore I guess

These are leaps and bounds about anything Olight offers in this sector. Olight makes garbage lights that are overpriced for the shit quality they are. 😂

I do have a Brass ReyLight Pineapple Mini and I love it... However, I've noticed a very significant drop down in brightness after 40-50 second when it's on "High" setting, I do use the same mode group as you do: "High->Med->Low", but basically because of the thermal regulation, I'm forced to use "Medium" setting almost exclusively. The button is a bit mushy... But other than that, it's a great light!

    • @flashlightcrazy
      @flashlightcrazy  Год назад +1

Yes there is limited time in the mini. But try out a NiMH battery and see how you go. I will link in the description where to get them

New shielded tailcap design vs older design 🤔
I like the old style for easy access to the button.

I figured I'd do the math to see how much energy these two battery types store:
Nickel metal hydride AAA battery: 1.2 volts * 900 mAh = 1.080 watt hours
    Lithium ion 10440 battery: 3.7 volts * 350 mAh = 1.295 watt hours
Nickel metal hydride AA battery: 1.2 volts * 2450 mAh = 2.94 watt hours
    Lithium ion 14500 battery: 3.7 volts * 800 mAh = 2.96 watt hours
So the AAA sized lithium ion battery stores 20% more energy than the nickel metal hybrid battery, but power consumption is so much higher that this small energy advantage isn't nearly enough to achieve the same run times. And in the AA size, the two batteries store virtually identical amounts of energy.

Mate, try out Lithium Iron Phosphate! Higher lumen output not quite as high as the lithium ion but really not far off and much longer run times in general.

I currently have a eagtac D3a in titanium (very similar to your d25). Are the Rey lights essentially similar in terms of output and quality? Wondering if I should pick one up for his Black Friday sale. Thanks for the video!
