- At the very place where many Christians believe Jesus Christ was crucified and then resurrected, now stands the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Shared by six denominations, it is a church riven by a confusing and complex series of spiritual battles placing it at the very heart of the Middle East.
However, the church's gatekeeper is not a Christian; members of a Muslim family have locked and unlocked the Holy Sepulchre's front door every day for the last 800 years.
In this 2007 film, Al Jazeera explores the background to this unusual story and how it reflects the meeting of a wide range of people despite their religious differences.
February 25, 2018: In a rare move, the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem has been indefinitely closed in protest against what church leaders say is "discriminatory" Israeli policy aimed at weakening Christian presence in the holy city.
Church leaders said Israel was violating the status quo at the site, which is one of the holiest in Christianity, at an "unprecedented level".
Holding The Key was first broadcast on Al Jazeera English in February 2007.

I live in Indonesia.
My country is almost similar to Turkey. Both are Muslim-majority and both the people here are reluctant on Islamic Laws (due to fear of the rise in intolerance between religions). The only difference is that Turkey right now is under the conservative Erdogan's administration while Indonesia is under the left-wing (liberal) Jokowi's government (excluding the Islamic Province of Aceh).

I had a dream that I was in the old time as a boy like 12-15 and I was standing writing in a long white paper supported by the stand and in my mind I could not figure out what it was because the letters was not written in Roman letter like I am typing now but different form of script. It's like I am doubled, the boy writing on the white paper and me in the present and I could not figure out what was I'm writing and what script is that and I heard a voice it's syriac. And I woke up and trying to figure what Syriac is. And I don't know how to spell Syriac either, I just can pronounce it. Then how I can google it if I don't know the spelling until one day when reading I came across about Assyrian in the Internet and they said Syriac and it's like a wake up on my mind, that's it Assyrian and I realize that I was Assyrian in my past life. I even had bought Assyrian docorated ring and that's time I don't know if it is Assyrian design and I did not bother the pawnshop about the design where I bought it. Umar RA was a just judge and hence he did not pray in the church so that others do not claim it as Islamic territory in the future. As a lifelong cradle RC in the process of catechization/conversion into Eastern Orthodox I totally agree. The Coptic and Ethiopian, as well as oriental church due to Chalcedon and other things are unfortunately, but reality nonetheless, not in Communion with the broader communion of Orthodoxy generally speaking. Strives have been made in the last four plus decades, it appears to be mostly based on wording and phraseology. But it hasn't changed yet. I was just elaborating because while I agree being that it appears you are Eastern Rite/Catholic that from already within the Orthodox Church itself there is a different circumstance and division particular to one being within and looking around in regards to communion, as opposed to being without, as in outside of Orthodoxy and looking inward as opposed to already being within the EO church and looking "around" so to speak- such as in the instance of ER Catholicism as yourself (presumably). I am Eastern Orthodox. In the Orthodox world we are known as Eastern Roman Orthodox, because when Saint Constantine built Constantinople it WAS the Roman Empire. Western historian decided in should be called the Byzantine Empire.
There are two very good books about the Roman Empire after rome's fell into the "dark ages";

There is no "Roman Orthodox" since 1054. It is the Christian Orthodox Church or colloquially known as the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Until the 1800`s Christians in the Ottoman empire have been called and called themselves romans/romei/rum. All Orthodox in the Ottoman empire have been members of "Rum Millet" - Roman nation in turkish - the representative head of the millet was the patriarch from Constantinople. The Orthodox in Syria for example are still called "rum" people, the greek dialect spoken by the greeks in Crimea is still called "romeika", and the Vlahs when they unified their principalites called their state Romania, same name that was given in history to the Easter Roman Empire so called Byzantine.
I am fully aware of these facts. However, Serbian Orthodox people for the most part during their Ottoman enslavement period belonged to the Serbian Patriarchate of Pec (1557-1766; and after that under different autonomous dioceses) so this Roman designation did not apply to all Orthodox Christians of the Ottoman Empire, at least not to all the Slavic nations. But the issue here is not how Orthodox Christians called themselves, or how they were perceived by their Ottoman lords. The issue here is to avoid creating confusion in the minds of English speaking audience who otherwise are clueless on the subtle differences between historic designations and would instantly associate the name "Roman Orthodox" to the "Roman Catholics" which would a pretty big mistake. The word Greece only refers to the modern state of Greece. The word "Greek" in "Greek Orthodox" does not refer to the citizens of Greece but rather to the followers of the Byzantine rite which cover a large population who are not ethnically Greek.
