It would be a beast if it had 2 1/4" audio outputs and a Type C instead of a micro usb that breaks over time. You can get Type C connectors on 20$ earbuds. Should i wait for a better designed futur FGDP-70? Will the internal battery be replacable after 2-3 years when it becomes unusable like most cells and tablets? How long does the battery last at max resources being used? Is it good for a 3-4 hour show?
I cant find any info on the "record" function. (not much in the manual either) Does anyone know: Can you play the actual pads and record your performance (without the click ) and have it loop back? If so is there a specific length of bars or time? Can it quantize? If not, what a shame as this could be the perfect device.
Yamaha's FGDP 50 is very nice finger drum, I would like few sugestions like its size is very compact, for stage playing purpose its size should be increased like rolands octapad 20 or 2 feet x 1.5 feet, similarly pad size should also be increased 2x2 inches, sampling memory space should be increased for 500no. Files, also wave editing feature like start point and end point editing should also be incorporated in this instrument,I hope Yamaha will think on my proposal, regards
Hmm would love to see 5 pin midi , multiple outputs for use as a backing track player … and no mini jacks please, it’s only a little gadget with nice sounds. Is there also a song mode?
They're not saying it's the first time they've made a drum machine - they've made plenty of those. But this is something different, with a.layout geared towards better finger drumming to better utilize more than just 2 fingers.
@@RoyMaya @00:30 Enjoy! DD10 came with foot pedals, you could assign all pads and two of the buttons as well as the pedals to any part of the drum kit, and it was even velocity sensitive, and yes it could be played in real time with just your fingers as that was the whole point of it's existence. Very advanced for it's time as a kids toy compared to the RX17 lol. It's all to easy to forget the past, more so when it belongs in the past. 😁
@@MIK_F40 I have plenty of Yamaha equipment from their past so I'm familiar with all their gear. The DD-10 is not the same as the FDGP. Just look at the layout. It's totally different, that's the point.
Handsonic has been around for years, this is not "the first time they've ever done it". That said,, several guys have said this is almost just as good at a fraction of the price (FGDP30 for$200 vs $1200 8sh for the Handsonic.). On my must have list
Moby doesn’t looked that impressed , I do want to know why there is only 50mb sample ram , what is the reason for this ? Memory is cheap as chips I thought. Time and time again manu starve us of memory, there must be a reason ?
is it really that different from just a square grid tho....maybe if you liked some of the kits you get this but i don't see much difference from this and an mpc or maschine etc
Very different from the 4x4 grid. Like I said in the video, slightly weird to start with but when it ‘clicked’ it made so much sense. 4x4 seems very ‘lumpy’ to me now. I’m a drummer who doesn’t usually finger drum but using a simple R/L hand to hand motion makes most patterns easily accessible. The mirroring of the hats and the toms really helps too.
In Switzerland we pride ourselfs with army knifes that have propper 5 Pin Din MIDI connection! Imagine cutting the pattern on your Cervelat with a MIDI converter dangling on, you'd look ridiculous!
No input for kick and hat pedals? Yes, I know "finger drumming"... uh, hmmm. It's amazing that ALL of these type controllers... NONE of them have input for kick/hat triggers ... why do we have to think of these things?
@@PeacelandMusic This thing is supposed to be played by “fingers” that’s why it’s called “finger drum pad” . I have played this thing for quite a while, the closed and opened hi-hat can be controlled by fingers with no problem. 😉
the sound design seems poor sounds from the 80's lol. Yamaha doesn't have enough money to hire sound designers ? Then, all the functionalities already exist in countless samplers or drum machines, I was looking for something new, maybe next year ?
Reminds me of an old Zoom machine!
Pretty cool actually. Good job Yamaha.

I'm sure this will start a one finger drumming revolution.
😄
What about 2 finger?
Thats what she said...
😂
Aye maaaan 😂😂
is that moby in the background? i think it is lol
Yamaha please please please make renewed groovebox/workstation like the awesome rs-7000/rm1x/dx200/an200 😔😔😔 its a dream
Seriously, show up Korg who keeps making worse and worse grooveboxes
Quiet interesting.. thanks a lot, guys! And Yamaha too!
are you deaf ?
Sounds pretty good and the features are amazing, just wish my Yamaha dtx wasn't so outdated and had midi
very nice and nice explanation love it
If I could in any way fingerdrum, I’d probably buy this, seems like a nifty device.
I've been a chronic fingerdrummer since grade school. Now I just need an external trigger for my belly bongos.
You can do amazing things with it.
Even better than a regular drumming.
The best thing is, it doesn't take too much space.
Can you make a video introducing the functions in the setup menu of fgdp 30 and fgdp 50?
Looking forward to pairing this with my Synthstrom Audible Deluge OLED.
Does this have a randomizer for beats and tempo control?

he said it very fast, but i notice that the samples that can be loaded, are up to 50 MEGABYTES, yes, you hear, 50 meg, which is 3 minutes..
Qwerty isn’t actually an ergonomic design; it was geared towards typemachine hammers not interfering with eachother
Sorry, Yamaha, you lost me at "mini-jack"... No connectivity, no sale. :( Cheers!

Get what you pay for. They are looking for the casual player in that price range
Is there a speaker built in ?
First time they have ever done it? Check out the Yamaha DD10, PSS680, PSS790, PSS51, RY8 ect. 😉

Maybe the first time Yamaha have?
The open Hihat in the beginning... didn't that sound a bit RXy?
it sounds shitty as hell
When will this be available in Canada?
My thought is: are the output noisy?... 1 mini trs output is a pain in the butt since it seems that all Y-cables outthere are junky. 😢

It does stream from USB as well....
FGDP? Want one NOW!! Where's my debit card, lol!
Simon!!

it kinda is, in a squaregrid of similar size, playing the pads in the center can be akward.

Is that Moby next to him?

Oh wait, a controller for Cubase Groove Agent 😂😂😂
Hey, Yamaha, was it THAT hard to add a 5-pin MIDI-in, or even a trs MIDI-in? .... wtf
Exactly why I passed.
Explain for the plebs like myself why that’s a dealbreaker if you would please, good sire🙏
@@BonHomie87because not everyone wants to use a full computer when they have separate hardware, sequences, other drum controllers and modules, etc.

1993 plutôt.
Isn't it what it does and sound like what matters? I'd go for 1983 on the looks by the way 🤡
You say that like it’s a bad thing
👍i LoVe !

Does it have velocity layers?
Yes
So you can create an entire drum part for a song and store it in the machine?
No 5 pin MIDI, no TRS outputs and micro USB instead of USB C...
in 2023...
for ~300 pounds...
what the hell are they smoking in the yamaha music HQ?
Be good to have two of these. Then you could play drums with one hand while triggering samples with the other.
USB C and a second set of stereo outs and maybe I’ll consider it….
👍🧡🤗
Cool
.....But can it do PWM?
It would be nice if it did loops, basically if you want a drum machine that creates loops, then this is not for you.
I think he said you can load samples and loop them - or did I mis hear?
The main selling point of this device is supposed to be the layout. This is not a standalone grovebox with sequencer, etc.

no seperate output... ha ha ha ha ha #thatsverycool
