So to summarize, the first reason the worship of Baal was so popular was because Israelites married into Canaanite families, and the two traditions intermixed, and the second reason was because Baal as the fertility god was very important in the region due to its arid nature and unpredictable rainfall. Did I get it right?

@@langreeves6419 You're right. Changes normally involve conflict. Probably, what we see here is the conflict caused when seminomadic shepherds started to settle and rely more on agriculture than before. The most conservative could have seen that as a defilement of tradition.
The symbology is pretty telling, you have the ascetic shepherds with their constant references to sheeps and goats, and the more laid-back, because the increase of food yield, farmers with their bull (the beast that is used to plow the fields) god. If that's not enough for you, Abel was a shepherd and a Cain a farmer, and Yahweh clearly stated in their story that he preferred the animal sacrifices of Abel over the agricultural ones of Cain.
Adoring Yahweh/El and adoring Baal was shorthand for keeping the nomadic tradition or embracing the new sedentary lifestyle, with both parties trying to defend their option as the good one.

That story does not specify Yah's preference for animal over agricultural sacrifice. It just specifies his preference of Abel's sacrifice over Cain's. Israel has always been both farmers and shepherd's, they were husbandmen which literally means to care for and cultivate crops and animals.

In college 30 years ago, I was taught that Baal was used as a descriptor for an entire class of gods in that region. Pretty much any pagan idol a particular village came up with became known as its Baal. Some of them may have been more prominent than others, depending on the relative influence of specific villages, but the name is technically applied to them all equally.

Baal is the middle-eastern name of the God of rain. So much so that his very name became the word for 'husband' in Aramic, and then Hebrew. There is even mention of the verb "to baal", as in "he went to baal her", which means to have intercourse as a male with a female.
In those times there was this widespread understanding:
Father sky impregnates mother earth via rain, while the lightning and the thunder are their pleasure moans from their intercourse. And then mother earth gives birth to all the plants that feed everyone.
Thus father sky was worshipped as the principle of "He who impregnates". Even today, there is this understanding among the Shaivites who worship the Shiva Lingam (a.k.a. the penis of God), most of whom live in India. Even the Jehovah Witnesses have this understanding that "this world is controlled by Satan", albeit they seem to lack the understanding that Satan is just one of the names of the penis of the Supreme.

It's related to wealth and power. Back in the day in ancient times your wealth and power is normaly measured with how much goods, food stock, and livestock you have. So back then it much related to fertility stuff (agriculture, farm, something like that). Basically food stocks to survive. Now, a lot of things changed, wealth is measured by how much money, stock market, currency, in the bank and all. Nowadays if you could control stock and currency exchange like Wall Street and stuff, playing hedge funds, you basically has a power to buy or destroy a country, even geo politic.

Yeshua(Jesus) the Christ loves you! Praise YHWH El Shaddai and may He bless you! Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords!
(YHWH - the LORD) (El Shaddai - God Almighty)
To those who haven’t; Repent of your sins and believe on the Adon Jesus the Christ, believe in your heart that He has died for your sins and rose from the tomb on the third day and you shall receive the Holy Spirit of God and He shall dwell within you. You shall be saved. Be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!
      -
Jesus the Christ loves you, praise YHWH our Elohim
      -
Evidence for Jesus Christ’s existence, crucifixion, and disappearance from the tomb (He rose from it):
The Lord Jesus Christ did exist, gathered disciples, and was crucified and went missing from the tomb. To argue about wether He was taken from the grave or rose from it, is an argument a skeptic can make. Because well if you disregard the eye witness testimony of the disciples and there willingness to die for Christ, and humans won’t die for something they know is a lie, when Peter is pinned upside down to that cross, he could have said that it was a fake, but He didn’t because it wasn’t, what care would he have about death in this world if he knew for a fact he had assurance of a life in another, Jesus Christ did rise from the tomb and is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Now the evidence for the Lord Jesus Christ’s existence really isn’t hard to find a multitude of non-Christian scholars and historians mention Him within 150 years after the time of His life. One such is Tacitus a Roman historian who reported on emperor nero’s decision to blame the Christians for the fire that had destroyed rome in 64 AD. Tacitus wrote:
“Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome…”
In this Tacitus makes reference to not only Christians, but Christ calling Him Christus and confirming the Gospels going on to say that He suffered the extreme penalty (crucifixion) under the reign of Tiberius and by the sentence of Pontius Pilate, which like I said confirms the Gospels narrative.
Another important source of evidence about Jesus and early Christianity can be found in the letters of Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan. Pliny was the Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. In one of his letters, dated around A.D. 112, he asks Trajan's advice about the appropriate way to conduct legal proceedings against those accused of being Christians. Pliny says that he needed to consult the emperor about this issue because a great multitude of every age, class, and sex stood accused of Christianity. At one point in his letter, Pliny relates some of the information he has learned about these Christians:
“They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food - but food of an ordinary and innocent kind.”
This passage provides a number of interesting insights into the beliefs and practices of early Christians. First, we see that Christians regularly met on a certain fixed day for worship. Second, their worship was directed to Christ, demonstrating that they firmly believed in His divinity. Furthermore, one scholar interprets Pliny's statement that hymns were sung to Christ, "as to a god", as a reference to the rather distinctive fact that, "unlike other gods who were worshipped, Christ was a person who had lived on earth." If this interpretation is correct, Pliny understood that Christians were worshipping an actual historical person as God! Of course, this agrees perfectly with the New Testament doctrine that Jesus was both God and man.
You may have heard of the scholar Flavius Josephus who mentioned James as being the brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, which matches what Paul said calling James “The Lord’s brother” and there is another document that Josephus may have written which goes:
“About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he ... wrought surprising feats.... He was the Christ. When Pilate ...condemned him to be crucified, those who had . . . come to love him did not give up their affection for him. On the third day he appeared ... restored to life.... And the tribe of Christians ... has ... not disappeared.”
Now it’s up to debate wether this is the entirely original document of what Josephus wrote, or if a Christian had edited it. But regardless he wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ. Wether it was negative or positive like the possible document is. Anyways there are many other statements, documents, letters, and writings of all sorts from the ancient world talking about the Lord Jesus Christ and there is not one question if He was a real person or if He was crucified and went missing from the grave. That is clear as day, He is a real person, was crucified, and went missing from the grave. And He did rise from the grave. And for more evidence of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s the Bible and you see there is no evidence the Bible is corrupted, a lie, created by the Roman government, folktale. It is the recount of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, now wether you want to believe it is up to you. And what profit was there in spreading Christianity, All the early Christian suffered persecution, beatings, and were killed. Another Scholar reported that James the Lord’s Brother was thrown off a building and then stoned to death for spreading the Gospel in Jerusalem. These people went to great lengths even giving their own lives for the Adon Jesus the Christ.

It is indeed not an accurate representation of the worship of Baal, nor an accurate representation of Jezebel or her beliefs. Because her husband respected her religious beliefs, he is depicted as an evil man who betrayed his own people and performed child sacrifices, although it is not known for sure. History is written by the winners, it is said. It seems like this video has a clear bias towards the Israelites and their beliefs.

    • @sissh5761
      @sissh5761 2 года назад +13

@@Clairevoyante I'd say a large part of bible stories is mostly losses imo. Israelites had a peculiar tendency to accurately record even the most shameful losses - compared to other writings of the time where kings would command their scribes to write favourably. The bible is the only religious text that can be trusted both archeologically and historically down to measurements and detail... so child scrifice and self mutilation (blood letting) can be taken as some of the rituals that baal priests (and adherents) did do, and well, respecting the queens beliefs is one thing but her ordering that all evidence of her husbands previous religion throughout the land (esp the priests) be violently removed can be viewed as a worse evil by some.
Anyway, I must agree though this video is severely biased for those who are earnestly looking for more info beyond biblical records or clearer understanding.
If you're Christian I'd highly recommend Supernatural by Michael S. Heiser - he does a deep dive into the 'gods' of the old testament, the real spirit realm, etc.

The israelites merged all of the gods they used to worship like Baal, Moloch, Shamash, Astarte etc under the Yahweh name, who was the national God of the Israelites. Yahweh then become associated with the excessive child sacrifice and ritual prostitution of Moloch and Astarte that Yahweh's name became too holy to pronounce so it was abbreviated to YHWH(the tetragrammaton) and then later replaced altogether with Elohim, HaShem and other references to God (still Yahweh). Obviously this move had nothing to do with holiness but rather with the bad reputation that Yahweh and it's followers started to have considering that the Israelites were supposed to show other people that worshipping the one true God and rejecting idolatry was the true way. Knowing this makes the degeneracy later recorded in the Talmud more sense considering that the Israelites/Judeans never really stopped being idolators of the Canaanite gods, and their filthy practices where simply passed through the generations by word of mouth or the socalled Oral Tradition that the Talmud/Mishnah is based on. The jewish people never stopped being idolators, they just became experts at hiding it.

When the Sun entered Taurus (the cherubim of the Bible) at the spring equinox, paid divine honors to the BULL, as Baal-peor, or Lord of the opening year. The world (year) by them was thought to be a chaos, but enclosed in an egg. "This egg being observed by the Bull (the Taurus of the Zodiac) was pierced by his horns; thus, it was said, the Bull created the world (year), and by his breath formed the human species." (Rev. G. Oliver, History of Initiation sect. 3.) The Hindus held the idea that this great mundane egg was divided in half; that the lower half corresponding to chaos or winter, was male while the upper half, answering to the Creation or summer, was female. During the winter Brahma or the Sun slept, but awakened on the approach of summer. (Wheeler's India, vol. 2, p. 457.)

So the golden calves were not pedestals for God's altar, but idols. This was another reason why Baal worship bled into the Israelites. All the surrounding people had idols to show who their god was and how others could recognize them. Without something to see, that's why Aaron had made the calves since they were afraid of God speaking to them directly. Jeroboam made the calves because Israel was split into north and south. He wanted the Israelites to stay in North Israel so made the calves so they could "worship" God there instead going down to South Judah where Jerusalem temple was.

Thing like having sex with a 13 year old, for example, disgusts us but it was not uncommon to marry off daughters around that age in that era. Jesus of Bible VS Antichrist
We all know there is no forgiveness of those who speak evil of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 12: 31,32. However, First John chapter four tells us not to believe everyone but to test the spirit a person is influenced by. The only way to test the spirit and know if a person is influenced by God's Holy Spirit is to believe everything Scripture says. And this is the reason a man shall not live by bread alone but by every word of God is to ensure you don't take a verse out of context, Mt 4:4. As an example, when a person tells you Jesus is God. Scripture tells us no one has ever seen God, 1 Jn 1:18, 1 Jn 4:12. Yet people saw Jesus, so how can he be God? Also, Scripture tells us God can’t be tempted, Jms 1:13. Yet Christ went into the desert and was tempted by Satan, Mth 4:11. So again, how can Jesus be God?
Sure Scripture explains God is the Word and the Word became flesh but Geneses explains why this is true. For you see when the world was created it was by God's word. Thereby the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and said let there be light and there was light Gn 1:3. The Spirit of God didn’t become what He said but what He said came into being, Geneses 1:3.
Jesus told us God is a Spirit. in that He is also a ghost, and this is the reason He is invisible Col 1:15, Jn 4:24. So when Christ was born upon the earth; God a Spirit spoke, and what he said impregnated Mary Lk 1:35. Thereby we beheld the glory of the only begotten Son of God. After Christ had grown he was baptized by John the Baptist and went forth to preach the gospel. Receiving the Spirit of God it appeared as a dove lighting upon him, Mt 3:16. For you see God is Holy and God is a Spirit being God is a Holy Spirit.
After Christ received God's Spirit he went forth with the gospel and performed miracles by the Spirit of God in him. Christ going forth with the gospel cast many evil spirits out of people and healed them, Mt 8:16. Yet, many people didn't accept Christ's doctrine. They couldn't comprehend if they didn't follow his teaching how evil spirits were capable of possessing them, Eph 2:2, Mth 10:1. Or that "Whoever was not with Christ was against him, and whoever didn't gather with him scatters, Lk 11:23, Mth 12:30. Many who Christ rebuked were men of scholars and they felt who was Christ to tell them they were on their way to hell.
Hence Christ was crucified and they thought they killed him on the cross. Nonetheless, while Christ was in the grave his body was like a butterfly that goes into a cacoon. Whereas his body went through a metamorphosis and was reborn into a celestial body, 1 Cor 15:40-44. Whereby the Spirit of God raised Jesus up from the dead and after three days Jesus ate with the apostles who touched him, Rom 6:10, Luke 24:39, Rom 8:11.
So I hope you see what I am explaining! When we turn to heaven and develop a relationship with Christ. Christ only will introduce you to God who is a Spirit. Our body is like the eggshell, the white of the egg is like our soul, and the yoke is like the Spirit of God. Hence we become the temple of God, two people in one body. And without a temple (body), we would be separated from God and death.
If they had believed Christ they would have realized when Satan was cast out of heaven he was stripped of his celestial body. And as an evil spirit, he inhabits people and impersonates God promising those whom he possesses, life Gn 3:4, Mth 23:13-39. And those who follow him will use God's Word out of context. And this is the reason a person must test the spirit one is influenced by.
Many people did not believe Christ rose from the grave and by twisting Scripture claim they can lead you to Jesus (a spirit) 1 Cor 15:15-20. We are warned not to follow people who claim they can lead us to him Mth 24: 24-26. People read this and think Jesus meant a person but if the spirit they are leading you to is not real then what or who is it? For you see when the abomination that brought ruin upon the world is revealed. It is because they accepted another spirit and called him God 2 Cor 11:4. As this evil spirit would sit in place of the one who is holy, Mt 24. Hence the worship of the beast as written in Revelation and the end of the world comes.

In some Canaanite mythology, El and Asherah had 70 sons (one being Baal who eventually usurped El and took Asherah as his own wife). In the Bible, after the flood, Noah’s 3 sons repopulate the earth and have 70 sons who go on to make 70 nations with one language. The nations unite to build a tower to Heaven (tower of Babel). God confuses their language into multiple languages and scatters them across the earth. Each of these 70 nations had its own god (fallen angel/son of God). God promised Abraham a nation (Israel) that would serve as his people and as a nation of priests to the rest of the world. From Israel, the Messiah (Jesus) was promised to come. Through Jesus, God would get back the rest of the world. Or at least those that choose to trust and follow Jesus. On His way to Jerusalem, prior to his crucifixion, Jesus sends out 70 disciples to every town He will pass through on His way. They were given the ability to heal and were excited about how even the demons submitted to them in Jesus’s name. It’s like Jesus was sending a message to those fallen angels/demons that the true king and God had arrived and their days were numbered.

Has corollaries all through the Middle East and beyond indicating historical or shared cultural origins. You can find him as Balor in Celtic myth. Very similar 'dark lord' type figure. Personally I believe Tolkien had it right here. Baal is the personification of the corruption that comes from power, specifically political power in this instance. The mantle probably arose around a real antediluvian figure, likely a leader of some evil or invading power, and was spread around by migrating tribes of Semitic and Indoeuropean peoples who survived the flood. More specifically, this whole region was under colonial occupation by an advanced power. Not aliens, but likely a more advanced iron or late bronze age civilization. Baal might arise from that term used by all such powers through out history to designate the one they've placed in charge. A colonial governor if you will. Then the flood comes, erasing all memory and most evidence of this civ, leaving behind only echoes like this and myths of invading gods, demons or giants.

Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better.
And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊
Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄
I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD🙏
    Amen.
You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both ☺ Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol. 🙏🙏

Baal is a hebrew word with several meanings and is subject to context and perspective it translates as 'lord' but can mean a group of arrow heads. largely, Baal is the name given by the israelites to describe the false Idols of the past mostly stemming from the caananite empire for which there were approx 117. In this case Baal is not a name or title attributed to one or a few idols but many and has also be used to name locations and settlements in the old testament times meaning it can be a neutral or positive word. In hebrew Baal is not a word solely to describe evil gods or doings it can be used in a positive context unlike how we see it we associate with false idols and often specifically to one or a few

Well the story of Baal from my understanding is as The son of El he claimed the throne of heaven as his father El stepped aside. The mother Ishtar was spiteful and sent his uncle yaam. To cast down Baal but Baal slays the dragon Yaam.
From there i believe the story of Marduk slaying the dragon and forming the earth and all life from the corpse of this giant Devine monster entity.
Which also parelels the story of Yahweh defeating the leviathan.

@Arthur do you know how am omnipresence works. it is all things and provides all motivation.
in job we hear a discription of gods creation. its a tough sob.
in psalms 74:14 we see how the defeat of gods most awesome of creations can provide.
the symbolism seems to me that through conqouring of monsterous challenge god will provide abundant reward. but that strength from defeating leviathan comes with a dark divinity. as we consume the beast its beastly nature becomes one with us.

There is no "story of Yahweh defeating the leviathan." That does not exist in the Bible.
